Chapter 223 The Pink Diamond Belongs to You

Seeing only Adeline's phone, Amara frowned slightly. "Ms. Smith, you misunderstand. Mr. Williams is not here. I am responsible for the patient."

With Rhiannon ill, Ronald had been on high alert, even stationing bodyguards outside her room, preventing Amara from even conducting an examination. For years, they had been searching for the last pink diamond, convinced that the clue to its whereabouts was with Rhiannon.

All of the Williams family's gems had proper documentation, except for this one. Since Rhiannon and Nancy had found it together, its ownership was ambiguous. If the Jones and Murphy families joined forces, it wasn't impossible for them to get their hands on it.

She looked at Adeline, her tone turning colder. "Since Ms. Smith is so understanding, then for the sake of the patient, I will have to search you."

"I'd like to see who dares! You are not needed here," Ronald said coldly from the doorway.

Remembering Rhiannon's words, Adeline immediately spoke up. "Dr. Phillips wants to search me. Who knows if you don't want to search Ms. Stewart's body as well? I don't know what you're looking for, but I think you should leave. You're no longer the attending physician."

Ronald looked at Adeline, puzzled. She never spoke like this. Seeing her gently shake her head, he went along with it. "She's right. You can't provide the special medication, so you are no longer needed here. I will arrange for another doctor."

"Ronald, I know you're worried about Ms. Stewart, but now is not the time to be petty." Amara said, her voice turning gentle again. "No one knows her condition better than I do."

"The world will keep spinning without you. Since Ronald said you're not needed, please leave," Adeline said, linking her arm with Ronald's, her demeanor suddenly arrogant. "I think you're just staying so Gemma can get back with Ronald. In your dreams!"

Ronald still found it strange, but he didn't say anything, just stared intently at Amara.

Amara looked at Adeline, confused. "Ms. Smith really trusts the Williams family." She emphasized the words "the Williams family," and Adeline understood she was trying to bring up the online rumors. She tightened her grip on Ronald's arm. "The previous generation's grudges are their business. It has nothing to do with Ronald. You don't need to provoke me. You're just trying to get Gemma to marry Ronald, aren't you? I'll say it again: in your dreams. Now, leave!"

Adeline was usually gentle. This was the first time she had been so forceful, her voice even tinged with a sob. But she still looked at Amara defiantly.

After a long moment, Amara finally nodded. "Fine. Since I'm not needed, I hope the Williams family won't come begging me in the future." She left the room in a huff.

Adeline immediately closed the door and ran back to the bedside. "Ms. Stewart, are you still awake?" After calling her name several times with no response, Adeline sat down, disheartened.

"Adeline, I'm sorry." Ronald said, stepping forward hesitantly. Adeline grabbed his hand.

She was about to speak but glanced at Ulysses by the door.

Ulysses immediately raised his hands. "I'll go now. You two talk."

After he left, Adeline lowered her voice and recounted what had just happened. Then she took out Rhiannon's phone. "Ms. Stewart said all the evidence is in here. I haven't had a chance to look yet."

Ronald took the phone, his voice hoarse. "Adeline, you believe me?"

"I do!" Adeline nodded without hesitation. She had had her doubts, but she had thought it through. Her parents hadn't objected when they found out her boyfriend was Ronald; in fact, they were happy. The kindness the Williams family had shown her was real. She could feel it. If her grandmother had been willing to risk her life to protect Rhiannon, it meant they were the closest of friends. Why should she believe online rumors instead of a family like that? Besides, this was Ronald, not some stranger. She should trust him.

Ronald held her hand tightly, unable to speak for a long time.

Adeline nudged him. "Come on, look at the evidence. You didn't know about any of this?"

Ronald shook his head. "I've never heard Grandma mention it. I only know she had a very good friend who passed away a long time ago. She prays for her every year, hoping she's happy in the next world."

"That friend must have been my grandmother." Adeline's voice was also tinged with sadness.

Ronald took a deep breath, then pulled her to sit beside him and quickly opened the phone. Besides the photos, there was evidence of how the Jones and Murphy families had conspired to kill Ronald's grandfather. There was also proof of how the two families had stolen some of the Williams family's business after they broke away, establishing their own companies, and records of their illegal activities over the years.

But what angered Ronald the most was that Amara had been giving Rhiannon conflicting medications for years. Rhiannon's heart had been fine, but after years of such medication, her health had deteriorated.

"Damn it!" Ronald slammed his fist against the wall.

Adeline quickly stopped him. "Don't hurt yourself like this. Those people are the ones who deserve to die! We need to figure out what to do about Ms. Stewart's condition. Without Dr. Phillips's medicine, is there really no other way?"

Ronald looked at Rhiannon on the bed, struggling to breathe, and felt a sharp pain in his chest. But he quickly pulled himself together. "Don't worry. I've already contacted a foreign institution. They have similar medication. It just can't be approved here, so we have to send Grandma abroad. I've already arranged for a helicopter. We'll leave in an hour. Don't worry, everything will be fine this time."

Hearing this, Adeline felt a little relieved. She subconsciously touched the necklace around her neck. It had two pendants: the original diamond pendant and a key. Rhiannon had just told her to get it from her shoe. It was the key to a bank safe deposit box.

Rhiannon had sold two of the pink diamonds. The other one must be with the Smith family. But Adeline's family was so ordinary that no one would believe they had such a large pink diamond. Rhiannon had too many safe deposit boxes in the bank, so they had no chance of getting the diamond. This, in turn, had kept the Smith family from being constantly watched.

But Adeline knew that if the key in her hand were to be exposed, it would cause another uproar. After thinking it over, she placed the key in Ronald's hand. "Your grandmother and my grandmother found three pink diamonds together. The last one is in a bank safe deposit box. This key should be in your keeping."

Just as she finished speaking, there was a knock on the door. "Mr. Williams, the helicopter is ready. The exit procedures are also complete. We can take off now."

Looking at the key in his hand, Ronald placed it back in Adeline's. "Grandma said this diamond belongs to her friend. Now that your grandmother is gone, it belongs to you. My mother will take Grandma abroad. You don't have to worry about the rumors here. I'll handle everything. Don't worry."
