LOVED ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY NINE
"So this does not happen much, does it?" Cael asked as they sat in the coffee shop. Desire had been serious about them getting coffee together and had seen it to the end, which, in all honesty, was weird to him.
"It sure does not," Desire said, taking a sip from her iced coffee. "And to think my mom was bugging me about dating and then I met you."
"You are quite forward," Cael murmured, also taking the cup from hand to mouth. Cael could not tell her that his mom too was just bugging him about getting into a relationship. "I guess all moms are cut from the same clothes.
"They sure are," she said silently. She had thought this would go a bit differently than this bit; she was not complaining about this at all. It was warmer than all of the madness she had been through in the past few months. She had to deal with the divorce, and right after her mom was in jail for fraud.
"You are..." he trailed off.
"Another compliment, or is it an observation?" she murmured as she leaned into her chair.
"Well observations," he said and she nodded for him to go ahead with whatever he wanted to say. "You are forward, confident..."
"Are listing things that I am?" she asked laughing. "Are you saying you've been able to get all of these within these few minutes?" she asked and he shrugged
"I am all of those things but it has always been a good thing that works out for me so..." she said with a shrug.
"I see" he said and they sat there in comfortable silence sipping on their coffee. "You do know that I am a divorcee right?" he asked breaking the silence.
"So am I," she replied, causing him to reel in shock. "Is it that surprising?"
"Well yes, I just find it odd that a man would leave all of this perfection for something else," he said.
"He thought I was too opinionated, and well, I couldn't stop, so we had to leave each other," she explained.
"Oh well," he replied, nodding.
"Is it a problem that we are both divorcees?" she asked, and he lifted his head to meet her eyes. "I mean, who made the rule that because our spouses left us, we cannot find happiness in each other?" she asked.
"Are you sure you can handle my family?" he asked all of a sudden.
"If we are talking family, I don't think you need to worry about me," she said, and he shook his head.
"Why don't we date?" The words flowed from his mouth. He found the situation odd, but with the way things turned out, one could only assume that they were meant to be.
"Are you asking us to date for real?" She asked; she was not entirely shocked he was asking her that; she had just thought it might take a while for him to warm up to her.
"Well yes, but if you don't want to, then you can say no. I won't be angry."
"Let's do it," she said before he could call it off.
"Are you sure?"
"I am"
If anyone had told Cael that he would get into a relationship barely three months after his wife left him and was nowhere to be seen she would have called the person a fat liar but seeing it manifest was kind of funny for him. He would also have never believed that it was possible to find a relationship anywhere.
"I guess I have to get your number now," he said, taking out his phone and giving it to her.
"Of course," she said, tapping on it and then saving it before giving it back to him.
"Soul mate?" he asked, looking down at the phone and then at her with amusement.
"I believe in fate," she whispered.
"Shall we see how far our fate is going to take us?"
