Chapter 42
"You have got to be fucking kidding me!" I shouted over the phone. I didn't care about their reaction at this point, because they were pushing all my last buttons.
"Ma'am, you need to calm down" the person over the phone said in a calm voice. Of course, they could be calm.
"CALM DOWN!?" I shouted once again.
"Don't you fucking dare tell me to calm down?" I snapped angrily.
"We will try to get everything done before the deadline" the person spoke once again. They were trying to reassure me and were failing terribly.
"Try? No, you will not try. You will get this shit fucking sorted out before-" I was cut off when they hang up the phone on me.
"Did they just-" I spoke out loud to no one in particular.
No, no, no. I must be imagining this. There was no way that they just hang up the phone on me.
You know what I think I will just go by the store and give them a piece of my mind.
Who the fuck did they think they are?
I had just heard that they had mistakenly sold my wedding dress to another woman. Like how the fuck do you sell someone else's dress by mistake? The only reason why the dress was still at the store was because they were altering it to fit my body.
But those sorry excuses of human beings had the nerve to call me to let me know that they had sold my dress by mistake and that they would be more than happy to help me pick out another one.
I didn't want a different dress; I wanted that one. Now I was dress-less with only a just a few weeks left before my wedding.
I always thought that women were exaggerating when they would break down whenever something went wrong before the wedding. In this moment I understood what they were going through. And right now, it felt like everything was going wrong.
Very wrong.
I was having a mini meltdown as I slid to the floor and cried out my frustration. I know that I could get the dress if I wanted. I could just go down there and threaten them to give it to me, but at the same time, crying out my frustration was just as good.
"Mama" I heard a small voice call out. My daughter came up to me and wrapped her small arms around me.
A smile graced my face and I brought her closer to me, my problems temporarily vanishing from my mind. I kissed her cheek and she giggled.
"What happened?" Emma said walking up to me and taking a seat on the bed behind me.
"They sold my dress to someone else" I grumbled, as I played with my baby.
"I hope this will make you feel better" she said walking out the room and returning shortly after with a big gift box.
"What is it?" I asked in excitement.
"Just open it" she said with a broad smile.
I gave her Elena as I stood to my feet and looked at the box on the bed. I opened the box slowly and moved away the paper.
Inside was a wedding dress. Not just any wedding dress, but my wedding dress. I looked at her with unshed tears and hugged her.
"You were the one who bought it?" I said squishing her in a tight hug.
"Yes and no. I paid a random woman on the street to buy it"
"I was just arguing with the owner. I can't believe I called her a 'bitch' among some other nasty words. I feel bad now" I said with a pout.
"No need to feel bad. They did sell your dress to a complete stranger so..."
"I guess you're right" I said as what she was saying actually made sense. They did sell my dress anyway so I guess they still deserved everything I said.
"Sweetheart-" Emilio started, but was cut off.
"Don't come inside!" I shrieked.
"Be-be-because" I stuttered as I hurriedly hid the box far away in a hiding spot in the closet.
"You can come in now" I called out.
"We have a meeting in an hour. Wait, what happened to you?" he said walking in.
"Da-da" Elena called out as soon as she saw him, fighting her way out of her auntâs arms.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, she ran over to her father and he picked her up off the ground. He spun her around as her giggles filled the room.
"How is my princess?" he said kissing her cheek.
She giggled and in turn planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek. It was moments like these that made me fall in love with this man all over again. He was always there for the kids and when he was away, he'd video call just to talk to them. It was cute watching him communicating with them, not understanding half the things they were saying.
As for Luciano, he was with Enzo and Stefano. They were having a 'boy's day' as they would have every now and then. I have no idea what they did, but I knew Stefano was more responsible than Enzo so I wasn't too worried.
We were both busy with 'work'. The restaurant was doing well and I have officially started as the leader of the Russian mafia. It wasn't easy, but Emilio was always there for me when everything felt overwhelming.
We always made time for the kids and 'Sundays' were our family day when we'd drop everything to spend a day with our kids. The twins had their nanny who was there when we weren't or couldn't be. So far everything was going great.
We were on our way to the warehouse where the meeting was being held when Emilio put a hand on my exposed thigh.
"Seriously?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"What? We still have thirty minutes before we get to the warehouse" he said releasing my seatbelt and picking me up and placing me on his thighs.
"The driver can see us" I giggled as his stubble tickled my neck.
He pressed the button for the divider and as soon as it was up, my dress went up as well bunching around my waist.
"Emilio" I moaned as he sucked on my neck, which will surely leave a hickey behind.
"We have to make this quick" he spoke in a raspy voice as he got down to business.
Thirty minutes later we pulled up to the warehouse. We got out of the car and I straightened my dress as Emilio gave me a sly smirk.Â
"This is all your fault" I pouted.
He came up to me and planted a sweet kiss on my lips. I smiled back at him and we made our way inside. I put on my poker face and took my seat beside Emilio.
The meeting commenced with everyone listing off their recent issues and how they were able to resolve them. I sat with a bored expression on my face as I listened intently to what they had to say. It was now my turn.
"Human trafficking is officially banned from my organization. From now on we only help those in need of relocation" I declared.
Everyone around the table nodded their heads in agreement. Some of them weren't happy with the way that Boris ran things. Some of them sitting her right now still did human trafficking, but they were also ok with my decision to not take part in it.
"I only had an issue with the shipment last week that was delayed. Someone had informed the cops about the shipment and they were waiting for it as soon as it got here" I said sitting up and eyeing everyone around the table.
These were the high ups in the Italian, Spanish and Russian mafia. I could see a few of them shift uncomfortably under my unwavering gaze.
"Someone tipped them off. My only question is who" I said looking around the table.
To be honest, I already knew who it was, I just wanted to give them a chance to step up and own their shit. I looked at the culprit as he gulped nervously.
I walked around the table and stopped behind him. I slipped out the knife that was strapped to my thigh. I grabbed his hand and held it to the table. Bringing the knife around, I brought it down with full force, chopping off four of his fingers. He screamed in pain as he held his hand to his chest.
"Take him back to the interrogation room. That should serve as a warning to any one of you who even dream about betraying me. You're all dismissed" I said with a sickly-sweet smile on my face.
"Have I ever told you how hot you are when you are in control" Emilio whispered in my ear.
I had blood splattered all over me, but he didn't seem to mind as he bent me over the same bloody table. I wasn't having any of it as I pushed him back and shoved him down on a chair.
"Fuck, you're so hot" he said as I straddled his lap.
Completely forgetting about the fact that my hand was covered in blood and there was blood smeared on my face I brought my lips to his.
"I love you" he whispered as I brushed my lips against his.
"I love you too" I whispered back.
