Chapter 36

I was worried. In fact, I was beyond worried. I couldn't help but sit down and worry. I knew Emilio told me not to worry, but I just couldn't help it. He didn't understand the seriousness of the situation.

I was having a baby in approximately a month and we haven't even prepared a room for the baby, but yet still he wanted me to relax. How could I relax knowing that my baby could come any day and his/her room still wasn't prepared for his/her arrival.

This was bad. This was so bad. I was pacing our room in a panic, running my hands through my hair. I couldn't help but blame the whole thing on Emilio. It was his fault.

Every time I brought it up, he would come up with some bullshit excuse. I have tried to corner him into doing it, but he always seemed to slip out of my grasp.

He always used work as an excuse. I don't know if he thought that I could tell the baby to not come. Like if the baby was ready to come, I could stop him/ her from coming.

He was unbelievable. I wasn't about to just stand around and stress myself out. I'm going get him to prepare the room today. I'm going to use my secret weapon to get him to do it.

My tears. He always got uncomfortable when I cried and always seemed to want to do anything to make me happy. I slipped on some flats on my feet and waddled to his office.

"We need to talk" I said pushing his door open without his permission.

Six pairs of eyes turned their attention to the entrance. Normally I would have been embarrassed and apologize, but not today. I was a woman on a mission.

I glared at them as they all shuffled to their feet and made their way to the door. I'm glad that they got the hint, because I would hate to have to do something I would later regret.

I gave Emilio my meanest glare, but he only gave me a blank stare which really annoyed me. I walked over to his desk and took a seat at one of the seats before his desk. I got comfortable as I cleared my throat to start my rant.

"We need to have a serious talk" I said calmly, even though I was anything but calm.

"Ok" he said wearily, eyeing me suspiciously.

"Emilio, the baby is coming in less than a month and we still don't have the baby's room prepared. You always make up some lame excuse every time I brought it up. I've bought so many stuffs and you still refuse to help me set up a room. All I want is to prepare the room" I said tearing up. I was getting emotional... again.

"I have something I need to show you" he said rising from his seat behind his desk.

"There's nothing that you can do to make me feel better" I said folding my hands, refusing to go anywhere with him.

"How about this? When we get back, I'll start working on the room" he negotiated.

"Fine" I said grumpily, getting up with his help.

"Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise"

"What did you do this time? Buy me an island?" I laughed a little at my own joke.

"That can be arranged, Tesoro" he smirked.

I totally forgot that he was loaded, and when I say loaded, I mean loaded. He had his own legit companies, nightclubs, casinos, among other illegal organization. He could definitely afford it.

"Don't get any ideas buddy" I said waddling out the door, with him following close behind.

"No promises" he said raising his hands in defense.

I rolled my eyes with a smile. He was definitely something else. Ever since we've gotten in a serious relationship, he has been doing everything he could to make me happy, which seemed so out of character for him, but I wasn't complaining.

He opened my door for me and helped me inside. I was finding some of the simplest everyday activities harder to do. My belly was huge and it felt like the baby would pop out anytime now.

"Are you going to at least tell me where we are going?" I asked, even though I knew he won't tell me. There was no harm in trying.

"No. Put this on" he handed me a blindfold.

I took the blindfold and put it on. We were driving for some time, with me not having a clue where we were going. I just sat in my seat pouting.

"You know sweetheart, that pout might be cute but it won't change my mind" he teased.

"Whatever" I grumbled and that earned a laugh from him.

The car came to a stop and I heard a door opening and closing, then after a few moments I heard my door open. He helped me with me seatbelt and also helped me out of the car.

He led me to god knows where, being careful not to let me fall or bump into anything. I heard the familiar ding of what sounded like an elevator, and then I think we went inside. I staggered a bit as it started it's ascended.

Where were we?

The familiar ding was heard again and we exited the elevator. We walked a little further, and then he stopped. He opened a door and led me inside a room.

"Ok, you can take the blindfold off now" he said, rubbing my back gently.

I slowly took the blindfold off and blinked a few times to adjust my vision. I put a hand over my mouth in surprise as I took in the room.

I can't believe that he did this.

I was standing in the middle of the baby's nursery. It was completely furnished and wonderfully decorated. Most things were in neutral colors since we won't know the gender of the baby until I gave birth.

I could see some of the things I bought in the room, but what I didn't understand was why we had to drive to get here.

"Where are we?" I asked, wiping away the few tear drops that had managed to escape.

"We're at the mansion. I had it renovated and I thought that we'd need a house to raise our child" he said rubbing the back of his neck nervously. Every time he did something sweet, he always got uncomfortable.

"I love it" I said hugging him excitedly.

"I'm glad you like it" he said kissing my forehead and sighing in what seemed like relief.

"Oh. Before I forget, I have something else to show you" he said leading me out of the room and into the newly renovated hallway.

Everything looked so different, like I was standing in a completely different house. I didn't really pay attention to that though as we made our way to the elevator.

"Why is there an elevator?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Why not have an elevator? Plus, you always complained about having to walk up the stairs. I don't want anything to happen to you or our baby" he said putting a hand on my bump.

"How sweet?' I teased.

We got in the elevator and made our way to the main floor. We walked in the direction of the infirmary. We got inside and he led me pass the first two open rooms and opened a door.

"So, you brought me in here to show me a room with a bed and medical equipment?" I asked confused.

"This is where you'll have the baby" he said hugging me from behind.

"You always think about everything, don't you?" I smiled leaning back into him.

"That's why I am where I am now. Strategizing and planning keeps me on top" he said kissing my temple.

"I am not looking forward to giving birth. If the videos and the books are anything to go by its going to hurt like a bitch" I said shuddering a bit.

"It'll be ok. I'll be there with you the whole time"

"Promise?"

"I promise" he said kissing my temple, simultaneously rubbing my bump.

The baby kicked the spot where his hand was. The baby always knew when he was around and always got excited when he talked to him/her. It was the cutest thing ever watching him talk to my bump and kissing it. It was even cuter when the baby responded by kicking.

He chuckled a bit, with his arms still rubbing my belly. I leaned even more in his embrace and sighed.

This was perfect.

Everything was perfect.
