Chapter 21
SOPHIA
“What are you doing?” I ask, staying perfectly still as I watch him close the door.
“Hello, sweetheart.” He says, but unlike the word should convey, there’s nothing sweet in his voice or expression. Then he takes a step toward me.
“No.” I try to stop him, but he ignores me and starts taking off his jacket. “What do you think you’re doing? Are you insane?”
“Put this on.” He demands, taking another step with the jacket in his hand.
“What?” I blink in confusion. Besides being a psychopath, he’s crazy too? I try to slip past him to leave, but he blocks my way. “Get out of my way.”
“Stop it. Stop acting like I’d ever hurt you.” His voice is edged with irritation.
“Let me pass.”
“Only when you put this on.”
“What? Why would I do that?”
“Because if I see someone else touching you like that again, things won’t end well.”
“Oh my God… you don’t own me.”
“No. I’m your husband.”
“You really are insane.”
“I tried to be patient with you, sweetheart. But that’s over now.” Closing the distance between us, he grabs my hips and kisses me, pressing his muscular body against mine. His heat and taste are so damn good, but I can’t. I push at his chest, uselessly.
“The more you resist, the crazier you make me.” He whispers against my lips, leaving me breathless.
“No.”
“I want you now, and I won’t take no for an answer.” He lowers his head to kiss my neck, making my reason slip away. No, Sophia. Don’t let him. He’s a possible killer and God knows what else. But my body betrays me. My panties are already soaked. I use every ounce of willpower and physical strength to push him away.
“I said no. What the hell is wrong with you? Are you stalking me?”
“No. I didn’t know you’d be here, sweetheart. But seeing you was enough to make me realize how much I missed you.”
“Sure. You looked like you were missing me a lot while you were chatting with that blonde.”
“Are you jealous?” He steps closer again with a smirk, invading my space.
“Why would I be? You’re nothing to me. Now let me out.”
“No. Don’t say that again. I know you’re scared because some things about me don’t make sense. But that doesn’t change what happened between us.”
“No, that changes everything.”
“No. You’re mine.”
“You’re insane.”
“You belong to me. You agreed to that yourself while you were moaning. Don’t you remember?”
“That was before I found out I have no idea who you really are.”
“I’m your husband.”
“No! You’re not, because that stupid contract is over. And because I signed the papers the second I got back from that damn ship.”
“The marriage couldn’t be annulled, sweetheart, because we consummated it.”
“What?”
“You truly became mine after that night.”
“No! That can’t be. I didn’t… I thought…” My mind spins out of control. I thought I was free after signing those damn documents. Could he be telling the truth?
“Now you can’t run from me anymore. So be a good wife and let me enjoy what belongs to me.”
Before I realize it, his hand is sliding up the inside of my thigh under my dress. His fingers slip beneath my panties. Oh my God… He glides between my folds, brushing my clit, finding my wetness and rubbing back up to my clit. I bite my lip, clutching the fabric of his shirt.
“Say how much you missed me.” He demands as his fingers drive me insane.
“I… didn’t.” I tease with a smile, letting my head fall back. What the hell am I doing? I shouldn’t let him touch me. But it feels so good…
“You should be more careful with those provocations.” He stops moving, leaving me dazed.
His hand wraps around my neck, forcing me to look at him. “You don’t have to say it because I know you did. Every night, every day. And that’s why you’re melting on my fingers right now. So ask me to fuck you.”
He’s right, and I hate it. I hate that my body reacts to a man I don’t even really know. I hate wanting him this much. But I’m not willing to deny myself this now. I need it.
Still gripping his shirt, I lean in, pressing my breasts to his chest, leaving our lips a breath apart. “Please, fuck me.” I whisper, looking into his eyes.
“Yes, I’ll do that.” He pulls his hands away from me, leaving me confused. “When we settle the marriage issue.”
“What?”
“Meet me at our house tomorrow.”
“Our house? You mean the house you forced me to live in to keep up the act for your grandfather?”
“I was only trying to protect you.”
“From yourself?”
“We’ll talk about this tomorrow, sweetheart.”
“No. I won’t.” I shove him back. What was I thinking? He must really be insane if he thinks I’m going along with this. “I’ll have my lawyer file for another divorce.”
“If you don’t come, I’ll come to you. You’re mine now, and there’s nowhere to run. Put this on.” He picks up the jacket from the floor. “And don’t forget what I said about letting someone else touch you.”
When I refuse to take it, he sets it on the marble behind me.
“You have to be kidding me. What kind of psychopath are you?”
“You don’t have to be afraid of me. You’re the only one who doesn’t.” He tries to caress my face, but I don’t let him. “Good night, sweetheart.” He says before walking out, leaving me completely shaken.
