Chapter 42 Cower !

Chapter 42 Cower !
Alex's POV

I stand by the doorway watching him, considering my options on interrogation. Lobby, living room, or private office across the hall.Considering Alessia is in the bedroom and I wouldn’t want to frighten her, I choose the private office. I turn around and call over my back .

“Follow me” As I head back to my private office, switching on the light and leaving the door ajar. I settle on my leather chair behind my cherry wood desk as he settles into a chair on the left and Luca settles on the right. I whirl around and face him, then I hear a loud thud by the door.

I shift my eyes to the hallway , but there is no one there, and I face Marco again, setting my cold eyes on him. Marco’s face pales instantly, and that’s all the answer I needed. His countenance says it all. Merde. The wuss isn’t here alone. He brought backup. Of course he can’t approach me alone. He is a coward. " Bastardo" I mutter under my breath, starting to regret not interrogating him in the lobby like I originally planned.

“ Who did you bring with you,” I bark out. His eyes narrow vividly. It’s obvious he is regretting coming here, which is the aim after all. He opens his mouth but pauses, no words coming out, and I feel my patience wearing thin. I remove my gun from my holster, placing it on the table in front of me as I watch Luca from the side remove his own and place it on his lap.

Marco gulps, shifting nervously, still not saying anything. What a strazza. He can’t even own up to what he did. I stand, pushing my chair back as it hits the back wall with a loud crash.

“Luca, watch him.” My voice low but clear as I get up quickly, walking to the main door. Alessia, I really hope you stay with Sierra as things are about to get messy, I muse to myself. Yanking the door open as two men fall on the ground, scrambling to get away from my grip like gutter rats. Both in dark suits, trying but failing to blend in the background.

The gall of him. I was hoping I could be wrong and they were my extra guards, but no, Marco Vitelli actually brought guards to my floor. Rage fills me up as I clench my hands in tight fists. Before either one of them can make a move, I strike. My fist hits one in his stomach, and he lets out an omph, doubling up. I punch the other in the jaw, watching with satisfaction as there is a resounding crunch and two teeth fall out. Argh. They all fall to the floor in pain. One goes to grab his gun, but he isn’t fast enough. I kick him in the stomach, and he folds like a pretzel. I grab the second by the collar and slam him on the lobby wall hard, the console mirror shaking from the impact.

“Listen to me carefully, bastardi,” I growl, staring into his fear-filled eyes. “You have two mins to get the fuck out of here before I paint this lobby with your blood, capiche?” My hands are itching to end them right here, but I know we have guests, and I wouldn’t want anyone calling the police to meddle in my affairs.

He nods, not even brave enough to speak. As I let him go, he slides down to the ground like dead weight. I dust off my hands and step back into the flat, locking the door and walking back into the office. Luca is standing behind Marco, pointing his gun at his head.

“Alex, Everything okay ?” He watches me settle on my chair again as Marco’s eyes widen with fear.

“I handled them. They should be gone by now,” my voice low and deadly. Marco is frozen, staring at me in disbelief.

“Alexander, I didn’t ask them to hide or eavesdrop,” he blurts, sweat trickling down his forehead.

I face him squarely.

“You came into my hotel without being invited,” I say quietly. “As if that is not enough, you didn’t consider waiting in the reception and having them inform me.” I pause, raising my gun to stare at the safety. “You still had the guts to approach my suite with extra men?”

His lips tremble, raising his hands in defence. “Alejandro, they are here to protect me. I meant no-”

“Your right to protection ended when you stepped into my bloody hotel,” I cut in loudly.

He swallows hard, looking towards Luca for help. Luca remains tight-lipped. “Luca, make sure they are gone.” I don’t like to leave things to chance, especially with Alessia here with me, only a few steps away before they try something sneaky again. He nods his head and leaves. I listen to his footsteps as he opens the door and closes it.

“Now you,” I point my gun at him. “You better start talking.”

Marco’s hand trembles as he gulps loudly. It seems it is finally dawning on him that it was a mistake to come here with hidden guards.

“I am waiting,” I say, voice low and growing impatient by the moment. Leaning back in my chair, I open a side drawer and grab a Cuban sugar, lighter, and ash tray. Cutting the stub expertly, I light it back and watch him fumble in his chair.

Locking my eyes on him I lean back in my chair “ I am giving you just one chance to explain to me why you went to so much length to find me tonight and what La Rosa has got to do with it”

Marco leans back shrugging “Alejandro, I am not here to try and challenge you. I swear it. I just wanted to warn you about her name being spoken in quiet corners. Since she matters to you .If they can’t find her, they might come for you next.”

I raise my eye brows unperturbed not missing the hidden scare tactics, Who ,pray tell will come for me? And Why?
