Chapter 19 Mind Blowing Footage

Chapter 19 Mind Blowing Footage
Alessia's POV
Alex’s eyes land on me briefly before he faces Luca.

“Bring her to my office when she has finished her meal,” he says curtly. Then, without another word, he turns around and leaves.

I lean back in the chair, taking a deep breath. I was so tense when he was in the room, it’s almost as if I could not breathe properly. I stare at the food, no longer hungry, but I force it down anyway. Once I am done, I take a large gulp of water and face Luca.

"Have I done something wrong? " I ask Luca my voice shaky. He gives me a quick assuring glance but says nothing. Right, like the quiet look is enough assurance. I might as well go and meet him. I can't avoid it forever . I think to myself sighing I stand up

“I am done. Let’s go.” I get up, straightening my t-shirt. Luca stands beside me, walking me quietly out of the room. I have a flashback of Alex a moment ago grumpy face as hard as a statue as he ordered Luca to bring me down when I am done and left I mutter to my self "Does he ever smile? " As we descend the stairs I must have been a bit loud because Luca snorts and responds “ Only when his enemies are bleeding.” I say nothing in response but his words make sense after all he is a sadist that will definitely put a smile on his face

Luca pushes open the office door, pushing me gently inside he closes the door softly behind me leaving me alone with the Alex. As I step in, the faint smell of Cuban cigars and leather wafts to my nose. He is seated behind his large wooden desk, smoking a Cuban cigar. He gestures with the cigar for me to take a seat. I do so without saying a word. I rub my sweaty palms on my jeans as I wait for him to talk.

"Alex what is this about? " I ask cautiously as I try to read his face but he has the best poker face I have ever seen and he gives nothing away. He puffs his cigar and reaches for a remote and switches on the television in front of me. The screen starts playing shows the footage of the Sirranos’ residence. Once I recognize what I am watching, I sit upright. My breath hitches in my throat.

“This footage was taken on the day of the robbery,” he tells me quietly.

The video plays on, and I watch the family’s corridor that leads to the glass chamber my seat occupied by Gio. He is seated watching the door. It must be the moment I had him cover for me when I went to eat. I keep watching, and I notice something that looks like a gust of wind with silver eyes rush past Gio, almost pushing him on the ground. He sits up, scans the area, sees nothing, then sits back.

My heart is racing as I face Alex, gasping. “What the hell was that?” I ask, my voice filled with fear.

He leans back in his chair, puffing his cigar.

“Gio described it as a gust of wind and he was right.”

I stare at him as realization dawns. “That means me and my mother are obviously not the only witches around?” I mutter under my breath. I can’t believe what I just watched. Was it a trick of my eyes or special effects? No, Alex wouldn’t tamper with this. Dios, this is even worse than I thought. That’s why they didn’t believe me when I said it wasn’t me they watched the video and concluded since I am the only witch they know of! They probably don’t know my powers are bound or that I know nothing about my heritage. I lean back in my chair, folding my arms and facing Alex as he studies me quietly.

I shiver as fear of the unknown fills me. “So what is the essence of showing me this?”

Before he can answer, the sound of the doorbell breaks the silence.

Kring!!! Kring!!!

Sharp and echoing loudly.

I jump in my seat, my eyes darting to the door and back to Alex.

Alex’s expression becomes alert instantly as he sets his cigar down in his ashtray and opens his side drawer, pulling out his gun.

"Alex you are scaring the heck out of me! Why do you need a gun? " I ask as my stomach twists in knots fear and adrenaline fighting inside me.

Alex fixes his cold eyes on me “ I don't know who is at the door so yes I need a gun and you should be scared, be very scared. At least now perhaps you will start listening when I give you an order” and with that he pulls the safety on his gun which makes a soft click sound and slides his chair back standing in his full 6 inch four height every inch the Cold Mafia kingpin that he is.

I stare at him speechless as fear clogs my throat.

“Wait here,” he orders, and calmly walks out of the door, dragging it shut behind him with a short click.
