Chapter 152 Call
Alessia's POV
Tensing involuntarily,I watch Alex as he reaches into his jacket for his phone and swipes to answer putting it on speaker
“Ferrini here.” Alex barks into the phone. No warm greetings or anything just straight to business.
Unknown: “Signor Ferrini I hope you made it out of the coven today?”
I sigh in relief recognising the voice,It is Padre( the historian helping us with the case)
Alex runs his hands through his hair…
“Yes Padre we are on our way to the safe-house”
There is a brief pause
Padre: “Excellent I have sent you a map of the La Geneva, I know I have Luca a physical one and the safest route tondollow is marked on it.”
Alex nods “Oh yes I still have it on me it's in my luggage, once we arrive I will spread it and take another look”
Slight pause…
Padre: “See that you do Signore is very important for you infiltrate via the route mapped it's the safest way in and Thomas is unaware of it.” Padre lets out a deep breath “It gives you undue advantage.”
Excitement fills my veins for a moment, it feel a awesome to finally be able to win for a change.
“Thank you, Also I need a favour get me a full dosier on a member of La Geneva, High level one that travels a lot we want to use his identity.”
Padre takes a sharp breath: “that will not be easy but give me 24 hours, In the mean time do watch your back” and he hungs up…
Alex turns to me and I remember what I had been about to ask him before his call. Squeezing his thigh once “What happened to our guide? The one that led us to La Casa?”
Alex smiles “You remember Hugh, I am sure he will love that. I roll my eyes at him as he laughs “I didn't forget him he is in the other vehicle.”
I nod “We are going to need him since he knows the route well.”
Alex pulls me closer “Yes we will, the most important thing to do now is to enjoy the scenery and wait for the dossier. Do you miss La Casa?” He asks carefully as if he feels it's a touchy subject.
I actually do miss it and we have so much to do there. I hesitate for a moment thinking of how to answer him. I decide to say my truth.
“La Casa felt good, and I still have lots of unfinished business there.”
Namely Enya and how she is running the coven.
I let out a deep breath “I miss it a lot It wasn't easy to leave.” I gulp hard “But that being said this is equally important and now that we are out of there we have to focus on what matters...” My voice trails
“You have a point, What if your glamour fails?” he asks softly
Turning to him “I will practice until we get it right so it doesn't.”
He exhales slowly and reaches for my hand lacing his fingers with mine. Warmth spread through my body from that one little contact.
“Once we are in their territory.” He says as his voice lowers “Make sure you stay within our sight always, find a way or perhaps keep us in your private chambers.”
I nod that sounds like a good idea “So I will have help when I want to go searching for la Rosa”
“Exactly” he adds
His eyes narrow on me for a moment “Alessia promise me you won't try to play hero and go looking for it alone.”
My lips twitch but I dont smile he knows me too darn well “I will not.” I whisper softly
He studies me for a few minutes to make sure I mean it then he relaxes.
“And if at any moment you feel like your cover is about to be blown” he adds “We escape”
“Alex…”
“Yes Alessia we abort”
“Alex.” I repeat this time more firmly “lets pray for luck because if we abort at the first sign of trouble we may never get another chance.”
He clenches his jaw tight “What if you are caught?”
Fear slices through my chest but I suppress it, of Alex knows just how scared I am he might urge us to abort the mission for now!
This need to be done
Somethings are more important that fear
“We should work fast so I dont get caught” I hold his gaze for a moment.
“Besides if they try to detain me they will regret it” I add darkly as I tighten my fist for a moment. I feel my fire simmering in my stomach
Ever ready
Every willing
Strong and Deadly as ever
“That's my girl” Alex murmurs appreciatively
I lean back on him slightly allowing the tension that has built up to slowly ease from my shoulders
“It's not only about power” I say quietly “it's about fixing a mistake.”
“Yes it is”
“Alex, They stole La Rosa right under my nose”
“That they did”
“It only makes sense that I will be the one to rescue it”
His arms tighten around me…
“We will be there to help you,whatever you need.” He whispers gruffly..I reach for his face tugging him down to my level I drop a kiss on his lips.
He holds me tighter giving me another kiss and another, my body lights up as fire engulfs me. He slips his tongue into my lips as it dances with mine I taste a bit of coffee and orange juice he had at breakfast. Sighing with pleasure “Mmmph!!!” forgetting the driver and where we are presently I melt further into his embrace until we need to break apart to get some air.
Phew! My cheeks warm up instantly as I can't look
at him again I quickly turn my attention to the window and he snickers beside me not saying a word.
The road ahead of us is long full of unfamiliar terrain and sharp twists and turns but one thing is for certain: Now is the time for us to act, no more hesitation and doubts. La Geneva will be expecting a head on confrontation and instead they will get an infiltration wearing a face of authority of one of their inner circle.
