Chapter 146 Last Breakfast
Alessia's POV
Angelica gets up and walks towards me. I take her hand in the crook of mine and we step out together. Luca and Alex are standing in the corridor waiting.
Alex eyes fall on me immediately and I give him a small nod to let him know we are on course. Everything is as it should be. Mara says nothing stepping into the front she leads us away from the corridor, Luca and Alex falling in step behind us.
This time around the walk is not rushed I take my time to admire all the hung hand woven tapestries we pass on the way. Soon enough we reach the closed double door of the hall and a loud buzz of conversation reaches us.
As usual when we step into the hall their conversation reduces to a low hum as they all stare at us as we proceed in. Keeping my chin up my eye meets Enya’s who is seated at the head of the long table discussing something with Orzo. Lucy is also seated a few seats to her right watching our approach with a quizzical smile.
She smiles like she has a secret
And she does
She knows I plan to wreak havoc before leaving and she is here for the tea
We settle on our seats and servants start pouring tea, coffee and juice.
Someone clears their voice And I dont raise my head as I reach for my coffee cup and have a big gulp.
Liquid courage
I am going to need it
“Princess I heard you have packed and requested your transportation back to the cottage where your cars awaits “ Enya says boldly
No beating around the bush today
Okay lets get into it then shall we?
Turning to her I give her a smile “Good morning to you too Enya, Yes we are leaving” I answer evenly
“Why so soon?” Frederic chimes in as he leans into the table “ Are you done with your training?”
My lips tilt into a sardonic smile
I watch Alex as he clenched his jaw
Angelica lets out a sigh close by
Luca remains relaxed leaning back in his chair like he is unbothered by the questions
“I wouldn't say I have finished training” I answer calmly “But Its out on hold for no.”
Indie scoffs and Ignore her
“La Casa Is not a hotel you can just come and leave.”
The other coven members seems to agree with her as there is a murmur of agreement around the table
I fix my yes on her “I never told you I am here permanently.”
Melissa and Frederic give me scathing looks in response as another lady Thano I thinks she is calls buts in “Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to teach you, where are you heading now?”
“Quite unfortunate indeed” I murmur “La Geneve” I answer confidently
“But I heard Thomas Sirrano lost twelve men trying to enter” Orzo presses
Oh so they are in touch with the outside world

“And so?”I ask
He scoffs “Princess whatakes you think you can do better” he challenges
I reach for mycoffee cup taking a deliberate slow sip, trying to bid my time and not quickly retort back. Because if I react too fast he wills words are affecting me. And in this coven -Control is power
“We will not be attempting to enter the way Thomas did” I say quietly
“Can you elaborate and how he approached them?” Frederic asks
“Sloppy with a lot of ego” Alex replies calmly
A few of the coven members turn to him “And you think you can do things differently?” Orzo asks sharply
I sigh
I really want to ask him What exactly is your business with how I approach but I can't of course instead I just say.
“Yes Orzo.”
The dining falls into silence as my food finally materializes on my plate and I pick up my cutlery to start eating and put an end to this interrogation But no such luck, Meliisaa narrows her eyes at us
“Enlighten us in what way will you act differently “
I cut a piece of egg and put it in my mouth chewing slowly then I swallow before meeting her gaze.
“Simple we won't be sending other innocent people to die on the hunt of something they don't understand.”
They pause while they all digest what I said. I can feel Enya’s eyes on me but I dont turn to her. I will have time for her later.
Frederic leans back in his chair “Tell me Princess, what do you know about La Rosa?”
Pfft I can smell condescension a mile off. I give him giving him a cold glare.
“I have guarded La Rosa my entire life. I believe I know enough about it to know ignorance has already cost enough deaths.”
A low murmur of conversation is exchanged between them. “The way you speak of it is as if you feel it belongs to you.”Thano mutters
I dont even hesitate “I believe I more than anyone should know the truth about who La Rosa was actually given to.”
“But what if the truth you are about to learn does not favor you?” Orzo presses his gaze flickering to Alex for a moment.
His point glaringly obvious..
I reach under the table and squeeze Alex’s hands trying to convey with my touch that he should keep cool and not react.
“No matter what the truth will always set us free.”
The air in the room seems to tighten as tension brews slowly until Enya drops her goblet gently
“Lack of fear can sometimes be perceived as arrogance” she says smoothly
I turn to her my eyes widening slightly “And continuing to prolong a matter can seems like avoidance.”
Angelicas takes a deep breath across me while Alex mouth tilts into a small smile
I dont stir as our eyes are still locked in a game of dominance. Enya does not blink and neither do I for a few minutes
Finally she blinks “Princess what do you think I am avoiding?” She asks calmly
I shrug leaning back in my chair “I am certain” I say slowly so one misses a word “There are some parts of La Rosa’s history that was deliberately hidden.”
I sneak a quick glance around the dining noticing the conven members shifting as they exchange uneasy looks between them.
Gotcha
This is definitely one breakfast that will be remembered for a long time
“You think La Geneva will help you with that?”
Melissa scoffs
“I do not” I reply “but I can enforce it at La Geneva.”
The dining is quiet for a moment
Enya watches me once more for a few minutes, then when she can't take it anymore
“When we are done with breakfast.” she says evenly “I will lhave a word with you in my chambers”
This is not said as a request but a command, by Dios I will honour it. And I will enjoy every enlightening second of it.
I incline my head at her a small smile of victory tugging my lips
“Of course Enya”
