Chapter 10 Gilded Cage
Alessia's POV
The car drives through large, majestic iron gates, and we move up a long, winding driveway. I am exhausted, my throat raw from screaming so much earlier.
As the car stops in front of the marble steps, I punch the window with both fists.
Someone.
Anyone.
Please let me out.
I am here against my will.
My heart is beating loudly in my ears and I feel like . Once I enter inside things will never be the same again . Dios free me from this nightmare ..
Alex turns and glares at me.
“Stop doing that. No one will dare to incur my wrath. You’ll only injure yourself for nothing.”
I stare at him.
“I hate you. You are a user and a monster. I will not help you.” They are all the same , you are only useful until they find what they are looking for I think to myself as fear claws at my chest .
He scoffs, calmly turning back to the dashboard. Unbothered
“You talk like you have a choice in the matter. Might I remind you, if it wasn’t for me, you’d already be dead by Sirrano’s hand?”
I huff, folding my arms around myself, breaths short and raspy.
“I would rather be dead than a prisoner in your gilded cage.” My hands tighten into fists on their own accord . One day I will flee this gilded cage . I will not let you break me .
He scowls.
“You are still in denial Cara mia and I don’t have time to entertain you right now. You are mine. Deal with it.”
He steps out of the car, then unlocks my door, pulling me out by the wrist. I twist and kick, doing everything I can to remove his hand.
“Let go of me!”
His grip only tightens, making me wince.
“You can fight until thy kingdom come. I would love to tame a wild red horse.”
“Bastardo!” I scratch his hand hard, drawing blood.
He smirks.
“Well, look at that. Do you bite as well?”
By the time we climb the steps and reach the massive golden doors, my hair is sticking out in a million directions, and I’m running out of steam. His men pretend not to notice, but I catch the amused glances they exchange.
Red are known for their temper I hear one of them mutter and they all laugh
“Stupidi, all of you,” I shout at them . My face grows hot as shame fills me .
“So your men are in on this too?Capturing an innocent woman?”
He snaps back, “All they need to know is that you are mine. That’s all that matters.”
He pulls me through the gold doors.
All the maids and head butler were lined in formation . Docile and watching how everything is playing out as if they are used to this . The mansion is filled with very bright golden orb lights , sleek marble floors, and grand interior furniture .
“Help me , please !” I beseeched his staff to no avail .
His elderly head butler steps forward smiling and bows “ Welcome home Signore Ferrini and Bella ?
Alex growls still struggling with me dragging me further inside the house and stopping on the first step of the stairs , “Don’t mind her she is a little hornets nest ! Her name is Alessia and she will be living here from now on!”
I feel heat rising to my cheeks and I bite back my retort .
“Welcome to Casa Ferrini ,Bella Alessia I am Andre” he adds bowing gracefully .
“Hello Andre,” I whisper
“Lucia come here .” Alex calls
“Yes Signore Ferrini” A short dark haired maid steps forward. You will be Alessia's personal maid , fetch her meals and anything she may need.
“Yes Signore .”she courtesies and adds “Welcome Signora Alessia” as she returns to their line . Alex resumes pulling me up the stair case and I hear Andre telling the staff :
“Nothing left to see here , Go back to the kitchen all of you !”
“Alex, unhand me!” My voice cracks from the strain. “Why are you treating me like..”
“Treating you like what? Like I own you? Like a prisoner? Like you belong to me now?” He pulls me up the staircase.
“Alex, leave me! I belong to no one!”
“You’re still in denial, cara mia.”
He shoves me into the first bed room on the right. It’s decorated in shades of gold and cream, a four-poster bed fit for a princess. He grabs a silk curtain holder and binds my wrists tightly behind my back.
I fight him, crying.
“Please don’t do this to me!”
He pulls me close, eyes cold.
“Once you calm down and stop trying to escape, I’ll unbind you. Until then…” He leaves the sentence unfinished.
I turn away, staring at the bed instead.
“You’re mad,” I whisper.
“Maybe I am,” he mutters.
My wrists burn against the silk as I twist. It’s no use. The room is shining bright like a diamond cage.
Alex sits me on the edge of the bed, then pulls out his ringing phone.
“Si. You still haven’t found him?” He listens, face tightening.
“Find him. He has information about her mother and La Rosa.”
A pause.
“Tony, don’t call me again without something useful.” He hangs up.
My stomach twists into knots as he turns back toward me.
“I do hope Gio is alive…” I whisper. “Not only because I need to know about my mother, but because he was kind to me.” Tears fill my eyes again. “Don’t hurt Gio.”
Alex grabs my chin roughly, eyes cold as usual.
“If he’s alive, I won’t hurt him. I need his information. But if he’s dead…” he shrugs, “then he was too weak to matter.”
I struggle against the binds again.
“Dios, you’re such a maniac.”
Before he can answer -
BANG. BANG. BANG.
The sound of the doorbell echoes through the mansion, followed by heavy pounding on the doors as though someone wants to break them down.
Alex freezes, head turning sharply toward the noise.
The pounding grows louder, more relentless. My whole body starts to shake as the pounding continues. Whoever it is ,
Sounds eager enough to keep knocking until he brings the whole house falling .
