Chapter 68

Third Person’s Point of View

As Selena walked through the forest, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She was still shaken by her encounter with the mysterious figure in the woods and was unsure of what to do next. She walked for a while, trying to clear her mind and figure out her next move.

As she walked, she noticed that the forest was becoming denser and darker. The trees were taller, and the leaves were thicker, blocking out most of the sunlight. She could hear animals in the distance, but they sounded different from the ones she was used to. They were louder and more aggressive.

Selena felt a chill run down her spine. She had a feeling that something was watching her, but she couldn't see anything around her. She quickened her pace, hoping to get out of the forest as soon as possible.

Suddenly, she heard a twig snap behind her. She spun around, her hand going to the knife at her side. She saw a shadow move behind a tree and realized that someone, or something, was following her.

"Who's there?" she called out, her voice trembling slightly.

There was no response.

Selena took a deep breath and started walking again, her senses on high alert. She heard rustling in the bushes ahead of her and saw a large animal slowly emerge. It was a wolf, but it was much larger than any wolf Selena had ever seen. Its fur was black as night, and its eyes glowed red in the darkness.

Selena froze, her hand tightening around her knife. The wolf snarled, revealing sharp teeth that glinted in the moonlight.

Suddenly, a voice spoke in her mind. It was calm and gentle, but it made Selena's heart skip a beat.

"Relax, Selena. It's just a test."

Selena looked around, trying to figure out where the voice had come from. She heard a whisper in the wind, and the trees around her rustled as if in response.

"Do not let fear rule you," the voice said again. "You are stronger than you realize."

Selena closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. She opened her eyes again and saw that the wolf was still there, but it was now sitting calmly, its eyes fixed on her.

"Good," the voice said. "You have passed the first test."

Selena looked around again, trying to find the source of the voice. She saw movement in the bushes, and a figure emerged. It was a woman with long, flowing hair that shimmered in the moonlight. She was dressed in a flowing white gown, and her eyes were a bright, piercing blue.

"I am Ram, the goddess of the moon," the woman said. "I have been watching you, Selena. You have impressed me. You have taken the first steps on a path that will lead you to greatness."

Selena was speechless. She had heard of the goddesses, of course, but she had never thought she would meet one in person.

Ram smiled. "Do not be afraid. I am here to guide you and help you discover your true potential."

Selena nodded slowly, still trying to take in everything that was happening.

"There is a task I need you to complete," Ram said. "Something that will prove your worth and strengthen your connection to the forest."

"What is it?" Selena asked, her curiosity piqued.

"There is a sacred grove deep within the forest. It is a place of great power, and it has been threatened by the darkness that is creeping into the forest. I need you to go there and purify it."

Selena nodded, understanding the gravity of the task. "How do I purify it?"

Ram smiled. "You will know what to do when you get there. Trust in your instincts, and the forest will guide you."

Selena took a deep breath and nodded again. She was ready for this task. She had trained for years, honing her skills and preparing for any challenge that may come her way.

"May the forest be with you," Ram said, and then she disappeared into thin air.

Selena stood there for a moment, taking in everything that had just happened. She felt a sense of excitement and nervousness all at once. This was her chance to prove herself and show the world what she was capable of.

She started walking again, her mind focused on the task ahead. She had a long journey ahead of her, but she was ready for it. She would not let the darkness take the forest, not when she had been given this chance.

As she walked, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She felt connected to the forest in a way she never had before. It was as if the trees were speaking to her, guiding her on her journey.

She walked for hours, the forest becoming thicker and darker as she went deeper. She heard running water and followed it, knowing that it would lead her to the sacred grove.

As she approached the grove, she saw that it was nestled in a small clearing in the center of the forest. The trees were taller here, their branches reaching towards the sky. The ground was covered in soft moss, and the air was thick with the scent of flowers and pine.

But there was something else there too, something dark and malevolent. Selena could feel it in the shadows, creeping along the ground like a serpent.

She took a deep breath and stepped into the grove, her senses on high alert. She saw that the trees here were sickly and twisted; their bark had blackened and cracked. The flowers were wilted and dying, and the air was thick with a foul smell.

Selena felt a sense of anger and sadness wash over her. How could anyone let something so beautiful and sacred be destroyed like this? She clenched her fists, determined to purify the grove and restore it to its former glory.

She closed her eyes and focused, feeling a surge of energy flowing through her body. She opened her eyes and raised her arms, calling on the power of the forest to aid her.

Suddenly, the ground shook, and the trees around her began to glow with a soft, green light. Selena felt a surge of power flowing through her body, and she knew that she was connected to the forest in a way she had never been before.

She raised her arms again and called upon the spirits of the forest to aid her. The ground shook again, and a gust of wind blew through the grove, carrying with it the sounds of an ancient forest language.

Selena closed her eyes and focused, feeling the power of the forest flowing through her. She reached out with her mind and connected with the spirits of the trees, feeling their energy flowing through her veins.

She felt a sense of peace and harmony washing over her, knowing that she was one with the forest. She opened her eyes and saw that the grove had been restored. The flowers were blooming, and the trees were standing tall and proud.

Selena smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. She had done it. She had purified the sacred grove, and she had proven herself worthy of the goddess's trust.

As she walked out of the grove, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that she had been chosen for a reason, and she was determined to fulfill her destiny. She would be the protector of the forest, the guardian of its beauty and purity.

As she walked through the forest, she felt a sense of serenity and peace. She knew that she was not alone, that the forest was with her, and that the goddesses were watching over her.

She smiled to herself, knowing that she had found her true calling. She would be the protector of the forest, the guardian of its beauty and purity.

And she would do it with all her heart and soul.
