Chapter 41

Chapter 41
Roman

I walk ahead of the guys and open the back passenger side door for Jaxon. They help him, and I close the door behind him. When I turn, they are both looking at me.

“What?” I ask.

“This is a stupid idea. You know that, right? Aria shouldn’t be going out there.” Ezra says, sounding a bit more like himself again.

It seemed like his change of opinion about Aria softened him up a bit, but I guess I was wrong.

“It wasn’t my choice. She made her decision.” I say with a shrug.

“A stupid decision,” Ezra grumbles.

“She’s stubborn and acts tough, but she’s scared. You need to keep an eye out for her. I mean it, don’t let her out of your sight. We don’t know each other well, but I'm trusting you with her. If anything happens to her, you’ll have a lot of people to answer to.” Daniel says.

I look between them and nod. “I’ll watch out for her.”

“Good. Keep us posted.” Daniel slaps my shoulder and walks off, but Ezra stays.

“What?”

He runs his fingers through his hair. He’s let it grow out recently.

“Maybe I should go too.”

“Aria already said she doesn’t want anyone else going. I’m not sure she will appreciate you going against her wishes.” I tell him.

He scoffs. “Is this how it’s going to be with you two? She says something, and you just go along with it? You used to be less of a pushover, brother.”

I give him an unamused look. “Aria is our Alpha. She makes a decision, and we follow it; that’s how it works in a pack.”

Ezra shakes his head. “Fuck that. This isn’t a dictatorship. We all get a say.”

“Say about what?” Ezra flinches a little before turning around as Aria walks toward us.

She stops in front of him, crosses her arms, and raises a brow.

“Uh-“ He runs his hand down his neck and shivers when he touches the fresh bite on his neck.

Aria smirks at him and then looks at me. “Ready to go?”

I nod. “Ready.”

She nods back, then walks a little closer to Ezra. She reaches up and pulls his shirt so that she can whisper something in his ear. Then she kisses him on the cheek before letting him go. She walks around him and heads to the other side of the car, opening the other passenger door, and climbs inside. Ezra glances back at us, and I see a light flush on his cheeks before he turns back around and leaves.

What did she say to him?

I’ve never seen Ezra flustered before. I smirk and turn to get into the car as well.

When I close the door, I hear Aria scolding Jaxon.

“Stop moving!” She hisses at him.

“I’m just trying to get comfortable,” Jaxon says with a hint of teasing in his voice.

I start the car and glance at them in the rearview mirror. Jaxon is leaning toward the middle seat and lifting his leg a bit off the ground. In that position, he’s a little closer to Aria. She’s giving him an unimpressed look, but I still catch the small hilt in the corner of her mouth.

“You leaning like that won’t be comfortable for anyone.” She says.

“If you move just a little closer, it would be.” He says back.

She shakes her head. “Nice try.”

They start to bicker back and forth, but I ignore them and pull up behind the two club members waiting for us at the entrance. They hold up a signal, and the large gate opens. The three of us drive through, and immediately my body tenses up. The warning from Buck immediately ring in my mind. Outside of the compound, we are vulnerable. I tried to appear calm about the reminder of the danger we’re in, but inside I’ve been extremely concerned. Clearly, given Jaxon’s current situation, we are not ready for what facing a threat out here could bring.

“Roman.” Aria’s voice has my eyes moving instantly to the rearview mirror.

“Yes?”

“So before we get to the hospital, there is something I need to do.” She says, and I catch her cheeks turning slightly pink before I glance at the road again.

“What?” I ask.

She sighs. “I need to bond with Jaxon.”

I nearly slam on the brakes. She wants to mate…I mean, bond with him now? In the car? With me in it?

“Okay.” That's all I can get out.

“Okay then.” She says and blows out a breath.

“Are you sure you want to do this now? I mean, it’s a bit rushed, don’t you think?” Jaxon says, sounding nervous.

I glance at the rearview mirror and see Aria blow out a breath. She slides her hand along the side of the neck facing away from her, and Jaxon tilts his head toward her hand. His eyes close, and I see Aria lean in. I have to look away as we exit the small road leading to the compound and onto the main road. There is a gasp coming from behind me and then a low groan. I risk glancing in the mirror again and swallow hard when I see Aria’s mouth on Jaxon’s neck. Her eyes lift and meet mine. She releases me, and a small drop of blood runs down her chin.

“Watch the road.” She says, and I quickly look away.

Seeing blood on her chin should disgust me. I mean, it’s a gruesome thing to see, and yet…

Jaxon makes a hissing sound, and I hear some shuffling. When I glance in the mirror again, Aria isn’t sitting next to Jaxon anymore. She’s on his lap. His hands are squeezing her hips, and she’s kissing him. He lets out a moan as she starts moving against his lap. My mouth goes dry.

The sound of someone blowing their horn startles me, and I swerve a little.

“Shit,” I say to myself and turn my blinker on.

I can’t drive like this. Hearing them moaning and seeing Aria on Jaxon’s lap…kissing him…is doing something to me. The front of my pants gets tighter as the sounds coming from the back start to get louder. There is more shuffling, and I try…I mean, I really try not to look, but my eyes drift to the mirror, and I see Jaxon pull Aria’s shirt over her head.

He groans and leans in. Her bare back is all I can see until her head drops back and her red hair falls, covering half of it. She lets out a soft moan as Jaxon…I can only guess what he’s doing since all I see is Aria’s back, but whatever it is, she clearly likes it.

“Jaxon…” She says in a low, soft voice that makes me shiver.

I’ve never heard a sexier sound, and it’s only making my situation worse. I’ve never come in my pants before, but I’m so turned on right now I might do just that. No sound has had as much of an effect on me as Aria in this moment. I don’t think anything ever will.
