Chapter 163
Anna
"What do you mean, Son?" I asked Azeal
Conflicted between watching Duncan who had gone unconscious- I knew he wasn't dead.
I could feel his emotions. He was just unconscious.
"Oh, right. That was the one information I didn't tell you. Levi is the other mole."
My stomach did a back flip.
"Let her go," Azeal said to the man that had me in a choke hold.
I shook my head.
"Levi is your son. So, he was the mole all along?"
"Yes," Azeal nodded.
"You bastard!" I spat.
"Relax, Aviana. I am on your side."
"No, no. You're not on my side!" I yelled. "Did you know it was my pregnancy?" I asked
"Answer me!"
"Yes, I did. I knew about it."
He answered.
"And you were going to let me kill him?"
"That was not my intention as you can see, Aviana. I knew you were unstable. You wouldn't understand what I was trying to do."
"So, you were going to make me hurt the father of my child?" I gritted out.
Goodness, thats sounded so weird.
I was still trying to process everything.
I was pregnant?
How was that even possible.
Okay I know how that was possible but...
I placed my hands against my temple massaging it.
We were just supposed to blackmail Duncan to give up his throne or we'd send all the evidence of his crimes to the police.
I had other plans. I had planned on killing him.
After Azeal showed me the video footage of Dunacn, I was disgusted with myself.
Killing him was the only option.
Azeal's plan was too slow. It would have never been enough for me.But now, I was conflicted.
I was pregnant by the man that apparently killed my mother.
And Levi was the son of Azeal all along.
This looked like it was straight out of a bad telenovela.
"He killed your mother, Aviana."
"Did he? Or are you lying about this too?".
"I never lied, Anna."
"No? Because you've been lying since you even met my mother. You were a werewolf and she didn't even know till it was too late. How can I trust everything you've said?"
"Oh, for goodness sake!" Celia growled, coming out of the shadows.
"He's not lying to you. He's told you the truth ever since he met you. Now, stop being whiny and come with us."
I turned sharply toward the sound of Celia's voice, her irritation slicing through the thick tension in the room like a blade. My fists clenched by my sides.
"Don't tell me to stop being whiny," I hissed.
"You weren't the one who was used, lied to, and impregnated by the man you were supposed to kill!"
Azeal's eyes darkened with something... Regret, guilt, something deeper... But I don't care
"You're still not telling me everything." I turned back to him, stepping close
"There's something else. I can feel it. You're hiding something,"
"I'm not..."
"Don't lie to me!"
I could feel the rage bubbling like acid in my throat. My heart pounding with betrayal, confusion, and grief I hadn't yet unpacked. My eyes darted towards Levi-quiet, tense, eyes unreadable. And suddenly, the final snap happened
Without a second thought, I grabbed the pistol on the floor and pointed it straight at Levi's chest...
"These are silver bullets," I said, my voice low and steady. "I'll fire. I swear I will. Azeal, tell me the truth. Now. What the hell is going on?"
Levi didn't flinch. He didn't move at all. That made it worse
Zeal raised both hands, stepping alright forward.
"Anna, put the gun down,"
"No," I said through my teeth. "You want to protect him? Then talk. Tell me what you're not saying. All of it."
"There is nothing to say, you're getting paranoid."
"Then he dies."
My fingers inched toward the trigger.
Then...
Gunfire.
Loud, deafening, and sudden.
I didn't know where it came from, but it was everywhere. I ducked, but something sharp knocked into me from behind. Pain exploded in my head like shattered glass. The room tilted. Saw blurry figures and I fainted
l cake slowly, the throb in my head pounding with each heartbeat.
I tried to move, but my arms were bound tightly behind me, wrists aching against thick, knotted rope. My mouth was gagged with duct tape.
Where was I?
My vision cleared slowly, and when I turned my head, my breath caught in my throat.
Beside me, only about four feet away sat Duncan.
He was also bound and gagged. Jid black hair was messy, face bruised but his eyes locked on mine.
Tears spelled in my eyes, not because I was happy. I didn't know what I was feeling anymore. Confusion? Relief? Despair?
He tried to say something behind the gag, but all I heard were muffled sounds. His eyes searched mine urgently, trying to ask if I was okay.
I began to kick the duct tape ,trying to get it off my lips.
Duncan found a way around his by tearing the tape with his wolf canine.
"Anna, are you okay?" Duncan asked with urgency.
Finally able to get mine from my lips.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I murmured.
"Where are we?" I asked Duncan.
"Somewhere underground,"
"How do you know?" I questioned.
"No windows," he answered.
I nodded.
I didn't recognize this room from the time I was with Azeal.
Maybe there was somewhere else he was hiding from me.
"Why am I tied up with you?" I asked.
"You still don't trust me?" He stared at me in disbelief.
"I don't know what to believe,"
"Azeal put you here. How could you use trusted him?"
He asked. To my surprise, he didn't look angry. Just curious.
I looked awsh from him.
"I didn't. I did this to find out the connection my mother had with you and your family," i admitted.
There was a moment of silence before he spoke again.
"I didn't kill your mother. I wasn't there. I swear,"
"Prove it,"
"How would I do that , Anna. In case you didn't notice, My most trusted friend and Beta just betrayed me and I am bound and gagged in a dark room. There's no way to prove it but have you ever known me as a liar,"
"No matter how passionate your words her, I can't blindly trust you."
"If there's anyone that shouldn't trust anyone here, it's me. You have been lying to me since the very first day. I should kill you."
He was right but I didn't care.
"I had reasons to lie,"
Duncan sighed.
'Tell me this, Anna. Did you kill Viktor?" He suddenly asked out of nowhere.
"No. Azeal did."
"Do you know he has an eleven year old daughter mourning him right now?"
I froze. Somehow the thought that he might have a daughter or someone that would miss him didn't occur to me. I felt an overwhelming sharp pain in my chest. It was gone almost as soon as it came and it hurt like a bitch.
"No."
I shook my head.
"I'm sorry for the little girl but I was a little girl too and he killed my mother after she pleaded for her life. I was right years old. I was alone and scared. Everything was taken from me. I deserved a chance too!"
"And I'm sorry but I didn't kill your mother, Anna,"
"If you didn't, your father gave the order and it makes you just as guilty."
"So, what's your plan? Kill me? That's going to be hard seeing as Azeal has you tied up here too."
Duncan eyed me.
"Maybe, I'll just kill you."
"And leave our baby an orphan? Is that not you repeating history but with a worst twist?"
"And what makes you think I'm keeping it?"
Duncan stiffened, his face going instantly pale.
"What? You'd kill an innocent child."
"It's a clump of cells, barely a child." I retorted.
"By the goddess Selene, How can you say this?"
"Say what? The truth?"
"You will not abort my child, Anna. I won't let you, I forbid it,"
I didn't respond to him. I was too weak to besides, I was trying to think of some kind of plan to get us out of here.
"Did you even love me?" Duncan asked after several minutes of total silence.
I glanced at him and sighed.
"Does it matter?"
"it does," he whispered. The demanding and authoritative man I used to know, nowhere to be found.
I didn't say anything for so long. Probably because I still loved him and I hated myself for it.
"Unfortunately, I did. You're a simple man to love,"
"I'm glad," he murmured.
Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps and then the jingling of keys.
The door opened and Celia walked in.
"Hello, sister,"
