Duncan
As soon as I was done with my speech and done pretending I gave a fuck about these people and not just their money and information and connection, I scanned the hall, looking for Anna. She'd just been here a minute ago and then she'd gone to the bathroom but she was still not out which had been fifteen minutes ago.
What was she still doing there and what was she about to tell me that was so urgent?
I walked past the crowd, ignoring everything in the crowd trying to get my attention.
I went straight for Troy, her bodyguard who was standing just outside the bathroom, checking his watch and glancing at the door every second.
"Where is Anna?" I questioned.
"In the bathroom, Boss,"
"How long has she been in there?" I demanded, worried, crowding my mind.
My wolf growled, already smelling that something was wrong.
"A couple of minutes,"
Something was wrong. I could actually feel it.
After about ten seconds, I grabbed the door knob and turned it, but it wouldn't budge.
Troy and I glanced at each other in shock.
"Anna?" I called out, pressing my ear against the door as I called out for her.
When there was no answer, I knocked again, shaking the door open.
The weird feeling in my chest grew.
"Break the door down," I said to Troy. Without missing a bit he pushed them door with controlled force, the door immediately caved in. I walked through the rubble and found that the bathroom was empty and also that the vent had been screwed open.
"Anna..."
I ran through the party, ignoring the party goers who were more than enjoying their casino night.
The bathroom led to a garden that led to the back...
As I made my way past the crowd, a pair of strong hands grabbed my arms and when I looked back to see it was, I found it was doctor Harrison, smiling brightly at me.
"Boss, hey, congratulations," he smiled wide.
I paused with furrowed brows...
What are you talking about... you know what? Nevermind," and continued walk towards the entrance.
"Wait. We need to celebrate, Boss," he said again but I completely ignored him and power walked to the entrance of the great hall and then found my way to the garden out back.
As I made my way, I heard voices.
"You don't want to kill her, Anna."
"What?"
I frowned as I ran to the scene. I stopped in my tracks as I took in the scene before me
Anna had a gun pointed at a girl's head and there was a tall middle aged man standing just a couple of tests away, backing me.
"Anna, put the gun down. You don't want to kill her,"
"And why the hell wouldn't I want to? She's done nothing but tried to destroy me ever since we met?" I spat.
"Killing her is the only thing I want to do,"
I heard Anna say in her voice I didn't recognize.
"Anna, What's going on here?" I snapped, my eyes darting between thr three people.
Anna's eyes darted towards me and her eyes widened.
The man that had been backing me without blinking, sped up towards Anna, grabbed her by the neck and pointed a knife to her throat.
"Come any closer, kid and I'll kill your woman!"
I glared at him, my hands clenched to my fists.
"Get your hands off her or I swear to everything you believe in, I'll tear you limbs from limb..."
I was breathing hard, my body Rufus and stiff with distress. Who the fuck was this anyway?
I didn't recognize him. How had he gotten past the guards or into the hell for that matter.
"Kill me? I don't think she'll like that,"
"What the hell are you talking about!"
"Don't listen to him, Duncan. He's a liar,"
"What? You don't want your precious boyfriend to know that you're working for me?"
I frowned.
"Who are you?" I asked again, this tim, anger taking over me.
"Take a wide guess," the man bared his teeth.
Suddenly everything clicked and I saw my world shatter before my eyes.
"Azeal,"i whispered.
"Exactly,"
"Anna?" I offered the love of my life an opportunity to explain.
"I'm sorry, Duncan," she whispered, shame in her voice.
"Let go of her," I warned as I watched one of my men stealthily walk towards the girl that was with Azeal.
He captured her in a chokehold before Azeal realized. "Let go of me," the girl yelled
I took the opportunity to speed up towards him.
slamming into him with everything I had. The force knocked him off balance, and Anna stumbled backward, gasping for air as the knife grazed her skin.
"Run!" I yelled at her.
"You don't want to do that, Anna?" Azeal said, rising as if kicking me directly in the face.
"You run, Duncan's secrets are exposed , not to mention that there are bombs everywhere in this hall. Anna will be coming with me or yit guest dies,"
"Then I'll kill her,"
"Oh, I assure you, Anna will not like that,"
"And why wouldn't she?" I seethed.
"Because that young woman right there is Ànna's biological sister."
"What?" Both Anna and I said simultaneously.
I glanced at Anna who was staring at Azeal in disbelief.
"You're lying!" She spat. "I don't have a sister,"
"You don't remember, your mother his her from you,"
Anna shook her head as she backed away.
"No, no, no, that's not true," she pointed an accusing finger at him.
"Have I ever lied to you?"
Azeal asked...
"My mother had only one child, that's it and I am that child."
"Your mother lied to you, Anna about so much. Then again maybe she thought you were too young to understand these things.
"What the hell is going on?"
I demanded, I was two seconds away from tearing everyone apart.
"I'm sorry, Duncan but I am the mole you were looking for."
My blood froze on my veins. I knew it but hearing her say it was a slap to my face
"But I'm not the only one. Whoever else is involved, I don't know. But I thought you should know the truth before I leave with them and yes, I love you."
I whispered...
I stood there, my heart in my chest. Another betrayal yet I couldn't believe it.
"I don't believe you, " I spat.
It's the truth. I came here to destroy you Duncan,"
"Why? I gave out everything," I whispered,.my voice breaking. I could feel my chest being destroyed
"Yes but a long time ago, your father took my mother's life."
