Chapter 124
Anna
"Alright, let's go over the plan one more time just to be sure." I said two hours before my date with Viktor AkA OKV-operstion Kill Viktor.
Alice had been the one to name the operation for some reason. I had tried ignoring at first but I had to admit the abbreviated version made a lot of sense.l and was kind of stylish.
"We have a sniper waiting across the street.
Once you press the pager, it means something has gone wrong, we fire at Viktor and if we can't kill him, Alice will do one of her magic things and get you out of there." Tim was the one to speak. We'd gone over this plan for the last two hours and 50 times.
"Perfect. You understand." I sighed in relief"Alright, I gotta go. I need to dress up and meet Viktor at the Rose velvet."
"Alright, Anna. Good luck," Alice saidz hugging me all of a sudden. She was such a hugger and a big softie.
"Thank you,"
I smiled, patting her on the back and actually savoring a hug.
I left for Rose velvet minutes late.
As I got into the usually bubbly and carnal club, I was surprised to find the place quiet and somewhat empty. It's was 6pm. It was never empty at this time.
As I walked past the reception to the bar, I found Estonia and a couple of people gathered in one spot at the bar whispering about something. The atmosphere carried a tense energy and so did they.
"Everything okay?"
I asked, as I approached them.
Five pair of eyes glanced at me, assessing me.
Some I recognized as bouncers and security detail and two administrative staffs
I held my breath at their scrutiny. It was only two seconds but I felt it. Did something happen?
"Um..." Estonia excused herself from the bunch and took three steps towards me.
"Well, something happened. A client ran mad last night and died..."
"Oh my God. Who?" I questioned. I had a pretty good idea who it was but at the same time- I wanted nothing to down with them.
"The Client from room 28. The one I sent you up to yesterday,"
I stiffened. Ran mad?
How was that possible?
"Really?" I asked. I didn't have to act surprised because I was shocked in more ways than I cared to admit to Estonia. From her perceptive, I looked shocked and upset.
The drug didn't do that did it?
It wasn't supposed to... then again, Tim had said it contained some type of hallucinogenics.
"Yes. It's a tragedy. Dr. Donald was one of our finest customers," she said with remorse. "Apparently he was hallucinating or something like that and didn't know he was falling from a twelve storey building.
I blinked. Not exactly the greatest consolation wishes but I'm sure the business will miss him.
"Does anyone know what happened?" I asked.
"Not yet but we plan to check the footage for last night just in case he'd eaten or drank something he shouldn't have."
I stiffened again.
Shit.
I didn't need this right now.
"You went in here, right? Did you notice anything strange or unusual?" Estonia question, folding her arms.
"No, why?" I asked a little too quickly.
Shit!
Estonia's gave me a look...
"I mean...no, nothing at all. They seemed snoued by my visit and eager to get to business."
"I figured, it must have been something he ate before coming over."
"Damn. What about Emily? Is she okay?" I asked, trying to sound as sympathetic possible without arousing any suspicions.
"Yes, thank Goddess." Estonia exhaled. She looked really worried about this and I didn't blame her. She was more of less in charge of the affairs of the club.
Okay, that was good. Emily was fine. That's all I cared about. I'd have to root back to Tim if the new development.
"But she's a bit disorients but we think she'll be fine."
"Ah, okay."
So, maybe Emily was an Alpha.
"Anyway, what are you doing here? You looked good enough to eat," she grinned, her eyes darkening in lust.
"Oh, I'm Just going out tonight."
"On a date of some sort?"
"Er... yes."
She raised a brow. "Is that a good idea?"
"Going out on a date? I'd hope so." I quipped.
"No, going out with someone that's not Duncan. He's not very... accommodating with arrangements like that." she pointed out, her siren eyes shining with concern.
"Well, I think his opinion kind of flew out the window when he lied to me about being a monster.. Besides, he is out of town and I have needs."
"I can provide you with the needs you need you know. I don't think Duncan would mind." She winked.
I chuckled. "Thanks Estonia but as tempting as your offer, I don't swing that way,"
"A crying shame," she smirked before going back to her people.
I had an hour till I had to meet Viktor. I had to get those footage before they did.
I found my way to the I found my way to the back office where the security room was stationed. I'd been here a couple times with Duncan, mostly during his night rounds or when he felt like showing off the inner workings of the Rose Velvet. It paid to have a sharp memory.
The hallway was dim, the scent of rosewood and aged liquor lingering in the air. I walked casually, like I belonged there, nodding to one of the staff as I passed.
The door to the surveillance room was locked. Of course.
His bedroom was wide open for anyone to go in but he drew the line at the surveillance door in his club.
Typical.
I glanced around. No one.
I pulled out the master pin card I'd swiped from Duncan's drawer two nights ago, just in case. He shouldn't have left it lying around if he didn't want me getting ideas.
Click.
I slipped inside and shut the door softly behind me.
Monitors lit up the room, showing various camera angles. There, camera 5, hallway to Room 28. Camera 8, door entrance. I scanned the labels, found the time stamp for last night, and began to scrub through the footage.
There I was walking towards room 28, then door closed.
I exited with my briefcsse and hours later, I went in again and then came out after a few minutes and met Emily in the hallway.
Few minutes after, the man had arrived.
Yeah, I looked entirely too suspicious.
I didn't wait to finish. I took out the tapes, shoved it in my bag including the tape of me coming in here. I'd have to replace it soon with blank tapes.
Shit, I should have thought of this before now.
Now, I had less than thirty minutes to meet Viktor's driver outside Red velvet.
I stepped out of the surveillance room, making sure to disable the cameras before leaving.
Thirty minutes later, I received a call from Viktor that his driver was waiting outside.
A black SUV was parked across the street. I crossed over and the driver opened the backseat door and I slipped into the plush car seat. It smelled like Viktor.
Hot, masculine and a fucking bastard.
In my small purse contained everything I needed for my operation.
Let's get this party on the road.
I grinned wode as the city lights blurred as we sped up to Viktor's
