Chapter 84 Let You Feel What Is Called Fear of Death
In the dark room, Amelia's voice cut through the air like a blade of ice, sending chills down Rachel's spine.
Rachel's hair stood on end as terror gripped her. Was that Amelia's voice? She was sure she had smothered Amelia to death with her own hands. How could she be here now?
The grip on her neck tightened, and Rachel's brain screamed for oxygen. Her vision blurred, and she could barely think, only able to struggle instinctively.
But it was no use. She couldn't break free. Within seconds, her vision went black, and her body began to convulse uncontrollably.
She was going to die! Amelia was going to strangle her to death!
For the first time, Rachel truly felt the fear of death. Her eyes bulged, almost bursting from the pressure.
Then, without warning, the grip on her neck was released.
Gasping for air, Rachel clutched her neck and coughed violently. Before she could catch her breath, she was yanked up by her arm from the bed.
Amelia's eyes were cold as ice as she tossed Rachel against the wall with a loud thud, like she was nothing more than trash.
Rachel felt like her bones were breaking. She tried to scream, but her voice was hoarse from being strangled.
Her head, neck, and entire body ached, but she had no time to care because the terrifying Amelia was walking toward her, standing right in front of her.
Rachel was on the verge of tears. Ignoring the pain, she instinctively backed away, pressing herself against the cold wall, trembling like a leaf, looking at Amelia with sheer terror.
Could a human possess such strength? And those eyes!
The cold moonlight through the window cast a pale glow on Amelia's face, her eyes fierce and icy like a lioness in the jungle, making Rachel's heart skip a beat.
She felt as if the person in front of her wasn't human at all!
Amelia crouched down in front of Rachel.
"Failed to kill me the first time, and you dared to try again. I underestimated how ugly and jealous humans can be."
"You should be grateful I can't kill right now, or you'd be a pile of minced meat."
Amelia's expression was emotionless, but her words were chilling.
Rachel took a deep breath and then realized, in horror, that Amelia's eyes had turned red!
Amelia's pupils glowed a bloodthirsty red, with a rose mark appearing deep within, both beautiful and eerie.
Is this a human? Rachel's eyes widened, her heart stopping for a moment, and she fainted on the spot.
Seeing Rachel pass out, Amelia stood up straight.
A shadow emerged from the darkness, jumping into her arms, nuzzling her collarbone, looking slightly rejuvenated.
"Stupid human."
Amelia glanced coldly at the unconscious Rachel by the wall.
Holding Shadow in one hand, Amelia picked Rachel up with the other and tossed her back onto the bed like a rag doll.
She frowned, realizing she had lost control of her anger and exposed her true form. Explaining Rachel's condition to the Martinez family was going to be tricky.
With a look of disdain, Amelia pressed Rachel's head, erasing the strangulation marks on her neck and the memory of what had just happened.
Then she carried Shadow back to her room on the first floor.
---
The next morning, Rachel woke up feeling like she had been run over by a truck. Every muscle in her body ached as if she were about to die.
Then it hit her. She had smothered Amelia in the wine cellar with a towel last night and called the "cleaners" to take the body to the dump before going to bed.
But she vaguely remembered Amelia appearing by her bed in the middle of the night, strangling her and throwing her to the ground.
Then nothing. Was it a dream or reality?
If it was real, why were there no marks on her neck or body? And Amelia was dead, so how could she appear in her room?
But if it was a dream, why did her neck and body hurt as if she'd been strangled and thrown? Was it sleep paralysis?
Rachel took a deep breath. Forget it, she thought!
Today was the piano competition, and with that annoying Amelia gone, tonight would be her moment to shine.
Thinking of the competition, Rachel got excited, ignoring the pain, and hurried to get ready and head downstairs for school.
But when she reached the living room, she froze.
At the entrance, Tobias was kneeling, tying Amelia's black leather shoes, asking if they were too tight.
Kevin, tall in his pinstripe suit, stood beside Amelia, adjusting her bow tie with a satisfied look.
"Tonight's the national piano competition, broadcast worldwide. Are you sure you want to wear your school uniform? Should Kevin get you a gown?" he asked.
Amelia shook her head, her voice soft, "No need, Kevin. It's a piano competition, not a beauty contest. What I wear doesn't matter."
"Exactly," Tobias stood up, hugging Amelia and nuzzling her, "Our Amelia is so beautiful, even in a school uniform, she'll outshine those girls in gowns."
Was this Amelia? Rachel couldn't believe what she was seeing.
She had watched Amelia die last night and seen her body taken away.
Why was she standing in the living room now, as if nothing had happened?
Could it be that last night's strangling wasn't a dream but real?
Just then, Amelia seemed to notice someone watching her.
She looked over and said lightly, "Rachel, you're up."
Amelia's eyes held a smile that didn't reach her eyes, only coldness.
"I didn't expect to compete with you in the piano competition. What an honor."
"Don't worry, Rachel. I'll give it my all tonight and won't let you down."
