Chapter 119 The Rashness of Youth
"This can't be, it's absolutely not true!" Lennox, propping himself up on the conference table, managed to stand, "You're just an ordinary soldier, you can't possibly be the person in charge of the North State Group!"
"Whether you recognize it or not doesn't matter," said Henry indifferently. "You're no longer the chairman of the White Group, and if there is nothing else, please leave our company. We do not welcome irrelevant people here."
Lennox's eyes flamed with anger, "This is the property of the White family, and as long as I am the master of the White family, I am the person in charge of the company!"
A smile flickered at the corner of Henry's mouth, "Then I might as well tell you that soon, this company will have nothing to do with you."
He looked around at all the board members gathered around the conference table, and said leisurely, "I'll just lay it out - this company will henceforth lead with Miss Alessia at the forefront, under the North State Group. We will leverage our controlling shares to soon push out all rights, properties, and investments, including the shares, of the White family. In the future, this group will no longer be called the White Group."
"I'll fight you for it!" Lennox, staggering, lunged at Henry to seize him.
But as he passed Stefano, Stefano stretched out a leg and tripped him, causing Lennox to fall to the ground, his head bleeding from the impact.
No one went to help him up.
His favorite grandson Anthony was caught in a daze and despair, having thought that he had driven Alessia away and reclaimed his position as general manager, with the chairmanship in sight once Lennox retired. But Henry, in a swift move, became the largest investor in the White Group, and even supported Alessia, kicking Lennox out of the board!
The other board members also sensed their future difficulties in the company amid Henry's bold proclamations.
"Henry!" Lennox suddenly raised his head, his figure trembling, as he rebuked, "Do not underestimate the foundation of a century-old family!"
"Even if you are the person in charge of the North State Group, upon arriving in Freton City, you should keep a low profile! You think you've won just because you seized control over the White Group? You believe you've defeated the White family? Even Nicholas wouldn't dare entertain such a thought!"
Henry responded calmly, "Heritage? Are you referring to the way you reprimanded me as a cover, stealthily placing your hand in your pocket to press the communicator?"
"How did you know?" Lennox was taken aback.
When Henry arrived, the security did not stop him, and the board was filled with incompetents, utterly unreliable.
Fortunately, Lennox was naturally cautious, carrying a compact one-touch communicator. A single touch would link him with the White family's security personnel.
Location, live-recorded audio, and messages would all be synchronized and sent out.
Just now, he had feigned anger to covertly press the communicator, fearing to provoke Henry. Yet, Henry had directly discovered it.
"Do as you please; I won't hinder you," Henry said with a smile, walking over to the conference table. He grabbed a person from the White family, who looked alarmed, and tossed him out before sitting down. "I can wait and see what this so-called 'heritage' you speak of is all about."
Alessia thought about what she knew and grew worried. "Henry, the White family has always had a dark force behind it. I've heard they exclusively recruit some criminals who help the White family handle illegal activities. These people were originally death-row inmates in jail, but Lennox managed to get them out and keeps them at a secret base. Having escaped the fate of firing squads and provided with such treatment, they are fiercely loyal to Lennox. It's very likely them that Lennox has notified!"
Alessia's face turned pale, regretting her hasty agreement to take the position of chairperson without careful thought.
The White family had always stood atop the hierarchy of Freton City's many families, with countless dark and bloody schemes beneath the surface, even an offshoot like her had heard about it.
But in the past, the White family had dealt with outsiders, and she hadn't felt it.
Now that she herself had become the target...
Seeing Lennox's sinister and vicious gaze, Alessia retreated to Henry's side.
"You're the chairman of the North State, and with me, we have the majority of shares. We should leave; there's no need to stick around here and be at a standoff with them."
Henry didn't budge and just smiled, "Don't worry so much. Come, have a seat. You've been standing for so long; you must be tired."
He turned his head to gaze at the White family members sitting beside him, "You, get lost."
With a sudden bound, the person leapt up and scrambled to a safe distance.
Even the chairman had been overthrown by Henry; of course, he was afraid to make a move.
But as he hid away, his eyes shimmered with hatred and a faint sense of anticipation.
Did he really think seizing power was like something out of a TV show, achieved by just moving the lips?
Just wait until the White family's sinister powers arrive, all this talk of shares will be meaningless.
What use are shares to a dead man?
In the wake of the shock, Anthony regained his composure, aware of his grandfather's actions. His face lit up with joy, and it was only then that he remembered to hastily help Lennox, whose face was smeared with blood.
Unable to contain his smugness, Anthony snickered coldly, "Henry, even if you become the chairman of North State, so what? Here in Freton City, we, the four great families, are the kings. Even the old emperor from Ravinia City wouldn't have more sway than the four great families here in Freton City! You're doomed, and you too, Alessia, you're going to die!"
"Previously, out of respect for your status as a member of the White family, I merely intended to lock you away for life. I didn't expect such ingratitude." Anthony grew more and more elated as he spoke, culminating in uncontrollable laughter.
Lennox glared at him, clearly dissatisfied.
With Henry here, it was time to flee if he was truly afraid!
No matter where he ran in Freton City, he couldn't escape the grasp of the White family, but Lennox couldn't wait any longer. He wanted to see Henry tormented and writhing in agony right now!
Maybe, offer a glimmer of hope?
Don't let him actually escape.
With narrowed eyes and a forced calm, Lennox said, "Henry, considering your young age, you're unaware of the White family's methods. Bow down and apologize to me now, and hand over all your White family shares, even those of North State, and I promise I'll spare your life!"
The mere thought of how effortlessly North State had brought in funding made him envious of the North State Corporation.
He didn't care about the reasons behind Henry's position as the chairman of North State. That didn't matter!
After all, he had no intention of truly sparing Henry!
He wanted the shares.
And he wanted Henry's life!
