Chapter 117 I Will Remember You
"Henry?"
Many recognized this young man and cried out in surprise.
"Didn't expect everyone to be so delighted to see me," Henry said with a smile. "But don't get too excited."
"What are you doing here? Where is the company's security? Are they all useless?!" Fabio stood up and roared before pulling out his phone to make a call.
In the lobby downstairs, about twenty or thirty security guards lay unconscious on the floor, piled up, with Antonio sitting on top, feeling restless.
"It's a pity we can't kill anyone."
Remembering Henry's status, Antonio felt uncomfortable all over. The gaze sweeping over the lobby caught everyone who had just seen him act out in fear, crouching, and trembling.
The ring of a phone suddenly pierced the silence. Annoyed, Antonio searched under the security guards, carelessly tossing them aside.
"It's this phone that's ringing."
Antonio glanced at the phone's owner, recognizing him as the team leader who was shouting most furiously, or at least it looked like him by build. The face was too mangled to be sure.
He picked up the phone in bad spirits, unable to kill. Over the line, he heard someone bellow, "What are you useless fools doing?!"
Someone shouting?
Antonio narrowed his eyes, held the phone away a bit, and looked at the display of the caller's name.
"I remember you; my name is Antonio."
Anthony's grip on his phone failed, and it plummeted to the ground.
Fabio felt a chill blanket cover his entire body, his face rigid with shock.
He didn't know who Antonio was, yet the moment he heard the words that he was remembered, his heart raced with panic, as if disaster loomed.
"Crazy!" Anthony cursed after a startled moment, then turned to Henry.
"This isn't a place for someone of your low standing; I advise you to scram immediately!"
"You've got it wrong; this isn't a place for anyone," Henry surveyed the room, pausing briefly on the face of each board member of the White family, "not a single decent human being is present."
"Stop it, Henry," Alessia was terrified; his coming along was bad enough, but showing such audacity within the White Group's territory was incredibly bold.
If a scene was caused, she was certain she couldn't protect Henry.
"You wretch, did you bring him here? Looks like this whole security team no longer wishes to work!" The moment Alessia spoke, Anthony snapped to a realization. Henry's presence implied Alessia had instructed the security to let him in, despite Anthony's explicit orders that no one in the company was to follow Alessia's directives.
"And you dare insult me?!" Alessia retorted, clutching at a folder ready to hurl it.
"Haven't you caused enough trouble, Alessia?" Lennox had been shocked at the sight of Henry but had since been coolly observing Henry's behavior.
He knew Henry was Nicholas's man; through Henry, he could ascertain Nicholas' intentions.
But now, Henry seemed a bit too calm.
Regardless, with the influx of capital, the White family no longer feared oppression from the Russo family.
With sufficient funds, they could easily maintain operations for a year and a half, and well before then, the four major families could join forces to drive the Russo family's influence away.
The first step was to get rid of that wretch, Alessia!
"Alessia, I hereby announce the termination of your position as General Manager. Once the meeting is over, hand over the company seal and return the shares you hold to the company."
In addition to a fixed dividend, upon their appointment, the General Manager of the White Group also received roughly two percent of the company's original shares as an incentive, driving each successive manager to strive and enhance the company's performance.
Alessia was no exception.
"What are we waiting for? Surely the meeting should come to end now, Grandfather? Kick Alessia out now so she can hurry up and get things done. Right now, just seeing her makes me want to vomit!" Anthony ranted.
Alessia had braced herself, but when Lennox truly showed no mercy and kicked her away, it was still more than she could bear.
"Fine, I won't wait for the meeting to end. I'll go take care of the paperwork now!"
"Anthony, you have the nerve to say you feel like throwing up when you see me?"
"I feel sick when I see you both!" Alessia retorted angrily, turning to leave.
"Hold on a second." Lennox called out, and when Alessia looked at him, he said coolly, "What makes you think everything will be over just because you leave? Did you think that walking out means it's all settled?"
He slammed his hand on the conference table and declared, "Alessia has colluded with outsiders, attempting to manipulate the White Group's assets. I hereby propose that Alessia be expelled from the White family!"
Almost all the board members, who were from the White family, quieted down after the chairman's statement, then broke into applause.
"Good!"
"I agree, I've been sick of that woman for a long time."
"Me too! The White family doesn't need such a person!"
Alessia felt her head spin violently, and she started to lose her balance, falling backwards. Henry reached out to steady her.
"Why would you do this to me?"
She murmured incredulously; her eyes filled with disbelief.
She had never done anything to deserve such treatment.
But Lennox wasn't done yet, he looked down coldly at Alessia, who was slumped beside Henry, with not a trace of pity in his eyes.
"Furthermore, due to such conduct, which has severely infringed upon the group's interests, it essentially amounts to criminal behavior. I've notified the public security bureau, and Alessia will be arrested for economic crimes."
"The White family's direct loss is around five hundred million dollars. With such an amount, Alessia, you'll spend the rest of your life in prison. I suggest you abandon any hope, Alessia, your father Joshua is no longer in a position to intervene."
Lennox's tone was icy, "I will personally hand this matter over to the mayor."
He had lost all hope in Joshua's collateral branch and was planning to ally with Jasper to take Joshua down and promote Jasper's line.
Although this matter had caused some losses to the White family, Lennox thought it over and decided that for the sake of his lineage's future, it had to be done.
Expelled from the White family.
Condemned to life imprisonment!
Lennox's words completely shattered Alessia's last thread of hope for her family, for her master.
Now, she had no more doubts about what Henry had said.
If Lennox could do such a thing now, so ruthlessly, then seven years ago, he could have just as easily had the heart to mastermind the harm that came to Henry and her.
"Henry, you should go," said Alessia sadly. "Thank you for coming up with me, and for all the help you've given me before. I don't want to drag you any further through this mess."
Once the Public Security Bureau got involved, the White family would surely take the opportunity to have Henry arrested as well. Then, both of them would end up in prison.
Henry shook his head with a confident smile.
"Don't worry," he reassured her. "Just know that however they are making you despair now, soon you'll see them despair in the same way!"
