Chapter 42
I thought that sitting by the window was going to take all of my pain and worries away but it didn't; it rather brought back memories of the pain I had to go through in the past. My mom was my piller and my strength; she walked multiple jobs just to make sure I had a better life but she was suddenly struck down by an ailment that ate deep into the little finances she had left.
It was heartbreaking to see my mom struggle with her illness. She was so strong and resilient, but this was something she couldn't fight alone. She needed medical help, but we couldn't afford it. I felt helpless and hopeless, and I didn't know what to do. I was too little to do anything; it felt like my hands were tired and I was just passing with time; my mom was dying slowly and I couldn't help; she was still caring for me even till the day she took her last breath; it was like my world was over; I was alone; there was no one to take care of me; I cried; my heart was heavy; I have been through a lot in life, and I didn't want Tyler and his mother to give me any more troubles. That is the last thing I would want. Nancy came into the room when she heard me crying. I tried my best to control the tears that flowed but I couldn't do much; I was stuck, stuck in my feelings and in my pains.
“Stop doing this to yourself, Andrea; this is not good for you. You are supposed to be resting and not crying; you will develop a bad fever if you continue to cry like this. What is the issue, dear? Is this still about Tyler?
“I’m just tired of everything, Nancy; it is just overwhelming. I've been through a lot, and I feel like I shouldn't be going through it with Tyler and his mom again.
“Do you really love Tyler as much as you claim you do?
“Of course, you know I love him with every fiber in me. I feel like I'm choking whenever we have issues or whenever we are apart. I have never loved anyone the way I loved him. The feeling is different. Tyler makes my heart skip a beat whenever he is close to me. It was like nothing I had ever felt before. I had never been so completely enamored with someone. He was different than anyone I had ever met. When he was around, it was like the world had faded away. Everything else melted away, and it was just the two of us. He made me feel special, like I was the only person in the world who mattered. I couldn't help but fall in love with him. It was a feeling I never wanted to let go of.
I tried to tell myself that I was being ridiculous and that it was just a silly crush. But I knew deep down that it was something more. It was as if my whole world had shifted, and I was seeing things from a new perspective. I could feel my heart racing when he looked at me, and I felt like I could fly when he touched me. It was like nothing I had ever experienced, and I was completely powerless to resist it.
I knew that this wasn't a normal crush. This was something deeper, something I couldn't deny. I was in love, and it was the most wonderful feeling in the world. But I also knew that it could end badly. I am terrified of losing him. I am scared of having my heart broken by him.
“Love is never a smooth journey, Andrea. I have told you this countless times: you will keep hurting yourself if you allow your emotions to control you. Love is also about letting go and trusting that even if things don't work out, you'll be okay. You can't control how someone else feels, but you can control how you react to it.
Nancy’s words were wise and true, but I didn't want to hear them; I was already too comfortable sulking.
“Thank you, Nancy. I think I want to be alone now.
“No, I won't let you do that to yourself again. I left you for only a few minutes and you already cried your eyes out. I will not do that to you; I will stay here in this room with you.
“I promise I won't cry again.
“I do not believe your words. I was able to convince Alice not to come here and disturb you. I came to know how you were doing and here you were crying. Look how red your eyes are.
I know it was no use talking to Nancy because she was determined to stay. My phone beeped and when I checked, i saw that Tyler sent me $50,000. All the anger I was feeling faded away with the speed of light. Money lightens up any kind of mood, truly. Nancy started dancing around the room when I showed her the message from my bank. She was too dramatic; she was dancing in a very funny way.
“You mean Tyler sent you this money just like that, just to wish you a quick recovery?
“Yes..!!!!
"Please, does he have any cousins that behave just like him? Someone who would give me money for just breathing close to him.
“Haha!!! No, he doesn't.
"Girl, you are lucky! I think Tyler is another breed entirely, because in my entire life I have not seen any man that would give a woman money like this just for nothing. All the men in New York are just different. I think Tyler grew up on another planet; you cannot convince me otherwise.
“Quit saying rubbish, Nancy; you have Steve; isn't he generous? Yes, he is but you cannot compare his generosity to Tyler’s. Tyler is loaded with enough cash to throw around; even if you choose not to work for the rest of your life again, he has you covered.
“No matter how much money he gives me, I will always work for mine; I cannt be a full-time girlfriend.
“That is you. As for me, my kind of job does not even require me to work every day; I can always pick up from where I stop. If my man is loaded like this, I won't even think of working a day in my life.
My phone beeped; I thought it was a message from Tyler but my eyes widened when I saw the content of the tweet and the sender.
