Chapter 40

Andrea’s  POV.

I was discharged that day and Steve came to pick me up from the hospital. He went on a short trip, which is why he didn't visit all these while. Nancy told him everything that happened and  he came straight to the hospital as soon as he got to New York. Nancy helped me pack my things and we headed home. I was looking out of the window throughout my trip home. I was trying not to cry but I couldn't help it. Tears rolled down my face effortlessly. My heart was heavy. It felt like a rock was on it. I tried to distract, but it was impossible because everything that was happening in my life at that moment was evolving around me and Tyler.

This was what I was avoiding all along. I didn't want any of these to happen because I knew it  was going to hurt my feelings, I knew it was going to break me down, and now it is happening. I know how fragile my heart can be. The only thing I wanted at that moment was to hold my daughter and feel the warmth of her body. She is the only blood-related relative I have here on earth. I missed her so much. Nancy couldn't bring her to the hospital so  Ami and Tyler wouldn't see her. Those few days were horrible for me. All I could do was facetime her and see her cute and pretty little face.

We were stuck in traffic and I felt my patience level dropping by each passing second. I wish I had the superpowers to teleport myself so I could hug her and hold her tightly to my chest. I thought about Jackson and I instantly felt bad. I wish that ugly incident didn't happen  to him. Jackson is a good guy and he didn't deserve anything that had happened to him at Tom’s place. They went there to get revenge for me and now Jackson has to pay the heavy price. Tyler would be a coward if he allowed his mom to influence his decision on this matter. After that happened and how this issue has escalated, he would be a coward to keep quiet about it.

I hate women like that. Tyler’s family is wealthy and even for generations to come, they will never lack or have a need for anything again with the kind of money Tyler and his father have; their companies are worth billions of dollars. I wonder what else Tyler’s mother needs; she is just trying to find favor from Amber’s family just because of a contract.

I will have my revenge on Amber one way or another if Tyler refuses to give the evidence to the police. I will find myself around the whole situation, even if it means getting my hands dirty. I was doing anything to teach that girl a lesson. I was still looking outside the window physically but mentally, I was far gone. I wasn't even seeing anything. My mind was wandering around and I came back to reality when Nancy spoke to me.

“Are you going to keep looking around like that forever? Are you looking for something outside the window?

"Yes, I am.

“And what is that? What could that be?

“Peace, I'm looking for peace, Nancy. My heart is troubled, my mind is wandering in outer space, I am not settled and I am really worried.

"You know the doctor asked you to get enough rest. It is not a good thing for your mind to be wandering like that. You need to relax your nerves. I know you were really upset with Tyler, but I didn't like the fact that you hit him. It is not ideal for a woman to hit a man. Maybe you should try walking a male in his shoes so you would understand the kind of pressure that guy is under. His mom is hell bent on destroying his life. She will stop at nothing until he agrees to marry Amber. Can you see that he has been through alot? He loves you and you know it but you chose to ignore that part and focus on the negative part of the relationship.

I saw his eyes today, Andrea. He would give his wealth in exchange for his sanity and peace of mind. You shouldn't push him away at this point but pull him closer to you and reason with him. That is how to win a man’s heart. Most times, it is not all about the high-pitched voices that fill the room that make a man listen to you; sometimes soul talks tame his soul.

“Maybe I overreacted today but his words hurt me, and he was beginning to sound stupid when he was telling me about how his mother doesn't want him to send the tape to the police. Think about it, Nancy; someone poisoned me, the woman he claims to love and he doesn't want to do anything about it because his mother said this and said that.

“I’m sorry to interrupt your conversation, Andrea but I didn't know that Tyler was the son of Mr. Williams. I know him; he was on Forbes cover page last year; he is very wealthy and influential; he is kind too; but I cannot say the same thing about his wife, who is Tyler’s mother; her fired more than five personal assistants this year alone; some resigned; words on the streets have it that she is very controlling; she likes to control her husband and her son. I didn't know Tyler was her son until I heard you mention it. If that is the case, you have a lot more to worry about because that woman is a handful; she will stop at nothing to bend and twist anyone to do her bidding.

“I was silent for a moment. I was tired of all the drama happening in my life. I didn't sign up for this. I just want to live a normal and peaceful life, but that is not going to happen. Tyler in the picture is Tyler. I love him, but his mother will trouble my life. She was going to give me a double dose of trouble. I'm sure she will continue doing the same thing if me and Tyler eventually get married. My eyes were focused on the trees that were outside the window. The wind was blowing, and they were dancing to the tune and rhythm of it.
