Chapter 37

I felt a sense of peace and calm, and I knew that whatever happened, I would be able to handle it. I took another sip of coffee and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day. I reflected on the events of the past few days. It had been a difficult time, but I had made it through. I felt grateful for life, and I know that I was strong enough to face whatever came my way. I found peace and comfort as I looked out of the window to hear the birds singing. As I looked out the window, I watched as a small bird perched on a nearby branch and began to sing. Its song was sweet and melodic, and I found myself lost in the moment. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, allowing myself to fully experience the beauty of the moment. As I listened to the bird's song, I felt my worries and cares melt away. I was in a state of pure bliss, and I felt like I could stay like this forever.

I finished my coffee and washed the mug; I picked up my car keys and left Ami’s house; I headed to mine; I got home and walked straight upstairs; Tony wasn't up yet; it was still very early in the morning; I got to my room and took off my tan top; I didn't realize I was putting on just a tan top because my main shirt was stained with blood.

I got into the shower and turned on the hot bath. The weather was too cold for a cold bath. The hot water felt amazing as it streamed down my back, and I allowed myself to relax and enjoy the moment. I let the water run for a few minutes until the bathroom was filled with steam. I inhaled the warm, humid air, and it felt like I was in a tropical paradise. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to sink into the moment, letting all of my worries and concerns fade away.

I reached for the shampoo, and I began to wash my hair, enjoying the scent of the sweet-smelling suds. I scrubbed my body, exfoliating away the stress of the past few days.

I stood under the hot water for what seemed like an eternity, and when I finally turned off the shower, I felt refreshed and rejuvenated. I dried off with a fluffy towel, and I put on my robe. I felt like I could go through anything that came my way that day. Tony came to knock on my room door and asked what I wanted for breakfast and I told him to prepare something for Andrea. I changed into my casual wear, a jogger and a shirt, put on my easy-wear slides and brushed my hair. I was already done with my skincare routine so my face would not be dry during the cause of the day.

I went downstairs shortly after and the food park was ready. Tony insisted on helping me to the car and he took the food pack to the car. I was so grateful he did and he wished Andrea a quick recovery. I couldn't concentrate on my driving. The aroma of the food was appealing to my nose. The savoury aroma of the food filled the air, and it was making my mouth water. I was suddenly feeling ravenous, and I found myself craving the delicious smells that were wafting from the food pack. I couldn't stop thinking about the meal, and I knew I had to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

I pushed down on the accelerator, and I felt the car pick up speed. I tried to focus on the road ahead, but my mind kept drifting back to the food.

As I neared the hospital premises, my stomach growled loudly, and I felt a sudden rush of adrenaline. I went to the parking lot and turned back to take a park for myself. I was really hungry. I munched on the cheese bread roll my chef made; it was heavenly and divine. I ate quickly and disposed of the plate. I took water to aid my digestion, and I let out a loud belch before I came down from my car. I opened the door to the back seat. I took the food packs and walked into Andrea’s ward. She was so happy to see me. I handed the food over to Nancy, and I proceeded to give Andrea a hug. She was looking better and healthier. She looked like her normal self, and she was sitting up by the time I got to the hospital.

“Good morning, babe, How are you feeling today?

“I’m fine and strong; the doctor said I can eat anything.

“Well, that is good because I brought you enough food to stuff that belly of yours.

“Ha-ha! Thanks. Why are you here so early?

“I missed you; I couldn't spend another minute apart.

“Aww!! I missed you too; it felt like I was not going to make it through the night without you. Where is Jackson? How is he doing?

I was quiet for a few seconds and Andrea almost noticed the awkward silence. I was contemplating whether I should tell her about the incident or now, but if I tell her about Jackson’s health status, it will unveil the truth about her poisoning. I wasn't sure if I was ready to tell her; I just gave her a fine look. I was smiling but I wasn't smiling from my heart. I was in a confused state. I was in a dilemma. I needed to think and act fast. Should I just tell her that Jackson travelled? Or should I tell her the truth? Will she be able to handle it? Will she forgive me for allowing my mother to influence my discussion? She will hate me forever when she finds out that I don't want to press charges against Amber.
