Chapter 29

Tyler’s POV.

The table was looking glorious, different varieties of food were placed on the table, my mum sure knows how to do too much, she gave Amber’s family a big smile as she approached the table. Jaxson was already seated and he acted like nothing concerned him with all we were doing, my dad gave Amber’s father a side hug and they tried to catch Up, two old men trying to talk about life and investments in general, that wasn't the right time for them to do that because my mum was eager for everyone to sit so we would eat.

“Let’s eat before the food gets cold.

We all took our seats and everyone was dishing his or her food. I loved the way Amber’s mother portioned her food. I loved the way she acted all posh and elegant. From her charisma to her table etiquette one would be able to tell that she is a proper English woman.

Mr Matthew started the conversation there by breaking the awkward silence that filled the dining area.

“How is Sweden Mr Williams, you almost didn't want to come back , you do not look a day older than your Son Tyler.

“Ha-ha!! Sweden is a good place to stay. It turned me into a coffee drinker because of the Fika break. I love the lakes and the forest. It is a cool place to stay. I tried their meatballs and Lingonberries and I fell in love with it ever since. I will soon round up my project there and retire to New York.

“That is awesome, you deserve to retire and rest, you haven't rested since your 30s. You were busy working and trying to build a name for your family and I respect you for that.

How about you Tyler? How is your company? I hear you are Thriving well.

“Yes sir, I recently launched a new app and I am currently working on another one.

“That is awesome, I like it when I see young people thriving and dominating the world. You are following your father’s footsteps, he is retiring soon, how do you intend to head over his company since yours is thriving and time consuming.

“That is not an issue, I will work towards it and come up with a strong team to make sure both businesses don't suffer.

“brilliant!

“You won't believe how supportive Amber has been to his career, they are made for each other and you can hardly see them apart.

My Mum made the annoying comment that turned my stomach, she was obviously doing too much and she sees nothing wrong with it. Mrs Matthew finally spoke after being silent since she started eating, she wiped her mouth with a napkin before she spoke.

“Tyler, I'm glad you and my daughter have something going on but I want to know your level of interest in working with M&M Space.

“Your first is a prestigious firm across the globe, not Just network alone and it would really be a pleasure to collaborate with whichever projects you are working on.

“Is this your cousin, Tyler?

“No, he is my friend, he is the one friend that is closer than a brother.

“I love that, keep up the friendship. I used to have a friend like that back in the days but life happened and we separated. That incident taught me a lot, it taught me to value friendships. I’ve never been able to bond with anyone like that again.

“Same thing happened to me years back, at the early stage of my business, I started it with an old friend of mine, a lot of things happened but I wish I didn't make some of the choices I made back then.

The dining was quiet for a moment after my father spoke, my mom gave me and eye signal to make the announcement but I ignored her and acted like I didn't notice it, it made her upset but she put up a fake smile when Mrs Matthew looked at her, I continued eating my food without minding my mother, I was paying close attention to what my father was discussing with Mr Matthew. They were talking about the new project. As soon as they were done, the room became quiet again we were already having dessert at this time.

“Tyler, don't you have something to say to us?

My mother’s voice was starting to annoy me, i hated the fact that I was an only child. I wish I had a sibling. Maybe the pressure will not be so much on me, my mum just wants me to marry Amber by all means to keep the family name and standard of living.

“Yes mum, but I already mentioned it, I was going to talk about my new App.

My Mum and Amber’s faces turned red. They were already waiting for me to make my announcement, a message popped up on my phone and when I checked, it was a message from Ami. I opened it and the message I saw brought life to my soul.

“Ami: Tyler, she is awake.

Joy filled my heart, my tummy suddenly became full.

“I have to run along, something came up, Jackson, let's go please.

“What is so important that cannot wait, Tyler, we are in the middle of dinner with your future in-laws.

“In-laws? Mum, I love Mr Matthew’s family but I have to tell them the truth.

My mother gave me a long stare that should have prevented me from talking any further but it didn't work.

“Mr Matthew, Mrs Marilyn, I’m sorry but you have to know the truth, I and Amber isn't in a relationship, she is abusive and toxic, I am seeing someone else and I would appreciate it if you respect my decision, I would understand if you do not award the contract to my company and my father’s company but I and Amber have no future together. Thank you and I would like to leave now.

“Come back here Tyler, I'm talking to you. How dare you walk out on me, come back here!!!
