Chapter 4: I Don’t Love Him Now

What Yanis said was a mockery of both Zane and Neve.

However, Neve was not as inoffensive as Yanis thought.

Just as Yanis finished his words, Neve, who was sitting in the back seat, said, "Zane, you said you were going to divorce Miss Thompson after this dinner, right?"

Yanis looked up at Zane, who was driving, when she heard this.

It seemed Zane was irritated by Yanis' mockery of Neve.

Therefore, he looked livid.

But even so, Zane's tone was gentle when he said to Neve, "Tomorrow."

It was a brief answer, but Yanis knew what he meant.

After the dinner, the divorce will be finalized tomorrow.

The car was silent.

In a few minutes, it pulled up in front of the Lawrence's Mansion.

Yanis didn't expect Zane to open the door for her, so after the car stopped, she unbuckled her seat belt and got out.

To Yanis' surprise, Zane didn't open the door for Neve but walked towards Yanis. "You'd better hold your tongue before Grandma."

"Did you tell her about the divorce?"

Zane frowned. "You don't have to worry about this."

Yanis nodded. "Got it."

"Zane!"

Neve's voice came from behind them.

Yanis glanced at Zane and walked to the door.

But Zane grabbed her wrist, "Don't forget you are still my wife, so just be careful about what you say or do."

Yanis was just about to speak when Neve came over. "Zane, I'm a little uncomfortable."

Zane didn't let go of Yanis but said in a gentle tone, "You can go inside, and I'll take you to rest later."

Neve nodded. "All right."

After ringing the doorbell, Yanis, as before, took Zane's arm.

When the door opened, Sophia, who was the nurserymaid of the Lawrence family, greeted Zane and Yanis respectfully.

"Good night, Master Zane and Lady Yanis."

"Good night, Sophia."

Sophia made way for them and said, "Please come on in, the Old Mrs. Lawrence has been waiting for you for a long time."

After Zane entered with Yanis, Sophia froze when she saw Neve standing in the doorway, "Miss Bennett?"

Neve smiled sweetly at Sophia. "Sophia, long time no see."

Sophia nodded somewhat bewilderedly. "Long time no see."

As an experienced nurserymaid, Sophia calmed down at once and welcomed Neve.

Just as Yanis and Zane walked in, a taunting voice came over. "I thought you wouldn't attend our dinner this time."

The speaker was Phoebe Lawrence, Zane's cousin.

Yanis still wore a smile. "Zane is to blame. He was unwilling to come without me."

Phoebe grunted, and when she saw Neve, she looked at Yanis with a sneer. "You're really subservient. Your husband even brings his lover here."

Yanis let go of Zane's hand and looked at Phoebe. "Whoever he brings, I'm his only legal wife."

"Shut up. It's rude of you to quarrel here!"

Lucia, who was Zane's mother, came over and glanced at Yanis, saying, "Yanis, it's normal for men to hook up with other women. As Zane's wife, you should be tolerant."

Yanis smiled and nodded. "Of course."

Lucia then nodded in satisfaction. "Your grandma is waiting for you in her room. Just get to her."

Lucia then looked at Neve with a smile on her face. "Neve, I haven't seen you for a long time."

Neve walked closer, reached out, and hugged Lucia. "Auntie Lucia, I've missed you so much."

Lucia was always satisfied with Neve, but Catherine looked down on her.

In Catherine's mind, Neve was far less elegant than Yanis.

That's why she was always against Zane being with Neve.

Zane went to the study to talk to Edison Lawrence, who was Zane's grandfather, first whenever he came back.

Therefore, while Lucia was talking to Neve, Zane went to the study.

There were some other relatives in the living room.

When they saw Neve, they kept praising her.

Neve walked into Catherine's room.

"I heard Zane brought Neve here?" Catherine looked at Yanis and asked.

Yanis nodded. "Yes, Grandma. Actually Neve..."

"Seriously? Are you going to put in a good word for her? Do you want me to agree on her relationship with Zane?"

Before Yanis could finish her sentence, Catherine interrupted her.

Yanis shook her head. "Grandma, I'm not that tolerant."

Catherine looked at Yanis with some pity in her eyes. "You are too soft-hearted. If you were a little more dominant, Zane wouldn't dare to go too far. Back then, if it weren't for you, he..."

"Grandma." Yanis softly interrupted Catherine. "I was willing to marry him. It has nothing to do with him, and later, it was I who set him up. He's innocent."

Speaking of which, Yanis looked Catherine in the eye and said softly, "Grandma, I'm here to say goodbye to you today. I may not be able to come back to see you often in the future. After all, I should leave."

As soon as Catherine heard this, her face changed. "What? Are you really going to give way to Neve?"

Yanis gave a bitter smile, moved closer to Catherine, rested her chin on Catherine's knee, and said softly, "Grandma, I'm tired and I'm ready to give up."

Hearing this, Catherine raised her hand to Yanis' head and patted it gently. "As long as your grandfather and I don't agree, he won't dare to do anything."

"You don't have to do that, Grandma. I can't always count on you. I fail to win his heart in five years. It means he really dislikes me."

"He is too blind and stupid."

Yanis was amused. "Grandma, for my sake, please don't put Zane on the spot tonight."

Catherine sighed. "You are too lenient with that bastard."

"I couldn't help it. I like him."

"Then why do you plan to give up?"

Yanis held back the tears in her eyes and smiled at Catherine. "I used to like him, but now I don't."

"Really?"

Yanis nodded. "I liked him until midnight yesterday."

Last night, after Yanis asked that question, Zane left without any hesitation.

Not after Zane open the door and left Yanis alone in the bedroom, Yanis embraced the realities.

She stopped loving him.

Catherine patted Yanis' head gently. "Zane doesn't deserve you."

Meanwhile, Edison sighed in the study.

Edison hit Zane on the shoulder with a cane and said, "You don't deserve Yanis!"
