Chapter 60 EPILOGUE
‘The famous Styles’ duo called EZME called it quits after five years of singing together to their millions of fans due to personal issues, scandals and health conditions needed to be taken more seriously. Ezekiel Styles has been suffering from Muscle Tension Dysphonia which causes the sound and feel of his voice to change due to extreme muscle tension in and around his voice box. As a result, it causes his voice to regularly stop performing more efficiently. The 21-year-old heartthrob and crooner recently lost his voice due to stress, tense, overuse and overwork and is now going through therapy doing various exercises.
On the other hand, Emerald Styles, who is no longer new to scandals and issues, has gotten some pretty bad press every now and then. The 21-year-old pop star and other half of the duo called EZME has been known for her diva behavior since her rise in popularity. It has always been rumored that she always uses her last name and her mom and dad’s power as VIP access to everything. There was one time when she canceled a show because she demanded a higher salary. Just recently, she was rumored to arrive late in a photo shoot and repeatedly complained about her hair, her awful outfit and was rude to the staff working on the shoot while--’
Harry turns off the television before he faced his daughter, “What was that all about Emerald?” His angered eyes staring at her.
“Dad, I’m not longer sixteen. I can do what I want!”
“Do what you want?” He gapes and was completely stunned to hear his own daughter’s answer. “Being rude to people is something you want?!”
“People always say bad things about me anyways! They only always see Ezi as the good son! And now the entire world feels sympathy for him because of his condition while they always see the bad things in what I do.” Emerald whines.
“Ezekiel is going on through something. You know he loves singing and he can no longer do it as much as he wants.” Harry explains.
“I know but people are always so unfair. They don’t deserve to be treated nicely if they aren’t even nice to me.”
“Your mother and I taught you well when you were growing up and reminded you to always be humble. Where did we go wrong? You should remember that having your last name is not a golden ticket to anything!” Harry scolds.
She didn’t answer while she glances at her mom who is just massaging her temples. Emerald is well aware that she has always been giving problems to her parents and she feels bad about it but then she just can’t stop with her diva behavior because she has grown up having all people respecting her and since she was Harry Styles’ kid.
“You leave us with no choice Em.” Lindy finally speaks.
Harry glances at his wife, “Your mother is right. We’re sending you to Aidenwoods , New Zealand because you need to know how it feels like to be a regular person. You need to know how it feels like to have no money and to teach you a lesson that not all people are going to serve you because you are a Styles.”
“Dad!” Emerald stands firmly. “Are you punishing me by forcing me to go to some random place?! I cannot and I won’t do that! I have a career and a life here!”
“Well, I can young lady.” Harry responds.
Emerald glances at her older brother who is just mouthing to her the words, “Stop and just apologize.” while he sits right across where she was actually standing, She was nowhere near apologizing because she always think of herself as high above everyone because of the VIP treatments she has been getting since she was a little girl.
Emerald knows that she is the total opposite of her perfect brother who took up Business Administration and double majored in Audio Recording and Production. She had always wanted to pursue law just like her mother because she has the brain and the guts to be one but then her passion had always been singing and performing. Even though she graduated with honors in law school, she never practices as one.
“As your father…” Harry says firmly. “I have the right to reprimand you and punish you for all the diva behaviors and bad reputation you have been having since then. Your head is getting thicker and you’re letting fame get into your head.”
Emerald shakes her head, “I am not going to New Zealand dad!”
“Oh you’re not just going to go to the main city of New Zealand but to the most rural part of New Zealand.” Harry clarifies.
Emerald gapes, “But dad! Mom, you cannot let dad do this to me!”
“I’m sorry honey.” Lindy answers. “But this is going to teach you a lesson that life is not all about being famous and getting VIP treatments.”
“And how long will I have to be there?” Emerald asks worriedly.
“A year or two.” Harry answers.
“What?! Dad you cannot do that to me!”
“I can because I am your father and your manager. You do what I say because this is for your own good!”
Ezekiel pulled up his pad as soon as he finished writing the words, “Cheer up Em. It’s not so bad.” with a smiley face next to the sentence.
“Not so bad for you!!” She screams at her brother before she groans. “You can’t do this to me!!” Emerald screams like the drama queen she is.
Days passed, Emerald found herself arriving in Aidenwoods, New Zealand with two big luggage and only a hundred pounds in her wallet and the other hundred pounds that Ezekiel lent her in secret before she left London. Since she has always been used to using her black credit cards which were temporarily confiscated by Harry and Lindy, she was only allowed to withdraw hundred pounds.
She hated her parents’ decision but then she had always loved them for being such good educators and disciplinarian. Yet she still hates their decision for sending her in a place where it’s far from home.
“It’s impossible that no one knows me here.” She says to herself as she stands in an inclined path as soon as the driver who gave her a ride dropped her off.
She had two luggage, heavy and filled with dresses, dashing outfits, heels and even knee-high heeled boots. Struggling with the inclined rocky pathway because of her red high heels, skintight jeans and body-hugging top, she was trying to balance with one luggage leaning against her other dominant knee.
She pulls out her phone and there was literally only one signal on her network. Right away, she felt hate towards the place already. “You cannot be actually fucking--”
She caught herself off guard as soon as she heard something rolling over, falling and hitting the rocks. The next second she turned around, she sees her other luggage sliding down the rocky pathway and was beginning to open into two exposing all of her clothes and underwear out.
“Fuck! Are you freaking serious?!” She chases it which causes the other luggage to start sliding down the pathway too, chasing the one which is now opened.
She gapes, “My clothes! My shoes! You have got to be fucking kidding me!!” She exclaims loudly and angrily.
She groans, “Not with these heels!”
She chases both of her luggage and struggling in her heels while curses of different sorts were coming out of her mouth. She sees a blue Ford pick-up which was going up and accidentally ran over a small part of her luggage while the other one hit the car’s headlight and broke it. She gasped with what she witnessed and stops chasing it as she was trying to catch her breath.
“Bloody hell.” She mutters to herself but her eyes were glued on her subtly dented and ran over opened luggage.
The driver finally steps out from the driver’s seat and an old man came and ranted about his ruined headlight. “You have got to pay me for this! You ruined my ute!” He says.
Emerald gapes and gestured to her ruined luggage, “I ruined your what?! How about my things huh? You ran over my luggage and see how you cracked it?!”
“That’s a hundred and ninety-four New Zealand dollars for you!”
“Excuse me?! You ruined my luggage!”
“You munted my ute! Not unless you want to end up in jail tonight. I can call the sheriff.”
Emerald groans in anger thinking that it is already too much trouble, “Fine! Jesus freaking Lord!” She pulls her money and handed it the old man.
“You dag!” He spats before he enters his car and continues to drive further.
Emerald instantly knew that was a bad word. “You fucker.” She curses back even though the old man couldn’t hear it anymore.
She begins to pick her clothes up and tries to stop her luggage from sliding away again. As soon as she hears another car stopping, she pulls her head up right away and found a dashing jet-black haired man in blue plaid top, worn out jeans and dark brown boots on his feet.
“Are you okay?” He asks her as he begins to help her.
Handsome, the word that enters her head in a split second.
She sighs and shakes the thought out of her head, “I am. Can you pick all stuff for me because my heels are killing me and I need to find a signal.” She stands and commands the unidentified man.
She pulls out her phone and looks for a signal when she looks back at the man, he was just standing there and not doing anything to what she ordered him. “I told you to pick them up.” She instructs.
“Are you lost?”
Her brows creasing, “Do I look like I’m lost?” She acted highly, again.
He stares at her from head to toe, “Well… Yes. You are not the type we usually get around here wearing…. that.”
Emerald chuckles while nodding, “Yeah because I am a city girl and I am famous. I am the daughter of Harry Styles.”
The man just nods, “That’s not what I was trying to say. I meant, we’re more of a work boots type of town around here.”
Emerald stares at her heels, “Italian leather are my work boots.”
“Sadly, your work boots will not last here for more than ten minutes in the wop-wops.” He says disinterestedly.
She laughs and raised her hands but she noticed that he was not laughing. That impassive and cold face seemed stoic. Too stoic, “In the what-whats?” She mocked.
“Countryside.”
She stares at the well-built man standing right in front of her and she was most definitely attracted to the lean body he was exuding and his light blue eyes which were to die for, she thought.
“You need a lift?” He offers. “I can take you to the place where you need to be.”
“I don’t take rides from strangers.” She gazes at her luggage which was still undone and she was irritated that he didn’t follow her order, “You can help me grab all my stuff though.”
He laughs under his throat.
“Come on now, chop chop.” She encourages her with gestured hands.
“I am not an errand boy and you can order someone around next time but more politely maybe. Best advice.” He begins to leave Emerald and she was left astounded at how he turned her down.
The man left her and drives away while Emerald had no choice but to pick all her clothes from the dirty and rocky pathway. After asking around and riding the bus, she was finally able to reach the place where her father told her to be…
Hartlon Valley Farm.
She was welcomed by an old woman who introduced herself as June and she showed Emerald around to her room and every where else. June gave Emerald more comfortable and casual clothes with a pair of boots too. She led the 21-year-old diva to the stables and Emerald had no idea what she was going to do.
“Am I going to be riding horses today?” Emerald seemed excited.
“Well, not quite.” June responds with a rueful smile.
“Then what will I be doing here?” Emerald asks.
“Cleaning and picking up horse poop.”
Emerald turned her head to where the voice was coming from and it was the same tall and handsome man from earlier who rejected her command. The same black-haired, thick-brow and blue-eyed man who caught her attention due to his cold attitude.
“Excuse me?” Emerald gapes.
“Ta, June.” The man says to the other woman before she excused herself and leaves the both of them. “It’s good you are finally wearing proper work boots, eh?”
Emerald rolls her eyes at him, “I am here for vacation.”
“No, you are most definitely not.” The man gets a shovel and hands it to Emerald who was not accepting it. “You are here to work your ass off in this farm and all over the stables.”
“What?!”
He placed the shovel on her hands and she struggles with the weight, “You pick up horse poop and gather all them there.” He commands and pointing.
“I am not doing that!”
“Yes you are, heaps.” He faces her. “Come on now, chop chop.” He imitates her hand gesture from earlier with a grin on his face that annoyed Emerald.
She scoffs and drags the heavy shovel behind her while she approaches the man who was ordering her around. “You listen here, heaps.” She mocks, using the same word which she assumed was a bad word in New Zealand.
“Name’s Beau, heaps.” He mocks back with that dimpled grin.
She shakes her head at the smug, “I am not going to stay here being ordered by likes of you! So go pick up those damned horse poop!” She shoves the shovel to his chest and walks closer to the horse which were on the stables.
“Then how will you be paying rent in here and food?” Beau asks.
“I’m rich and famous.” She sounded arrogant.
She stands in front a huge black horse and without hesitation, she reached out to it as Beau calls out, “Belle does not like being--”
The horse started pulling herself up, hovering a few feet over Emerald and started kicking her front legs which gave Emerald a complete fright. She jumps back in shock and lost her balance from the horse’s rash movement and loud neighing. She falls on her butt with her hands holding onto something slimy and soft.
Emerald screamed in horror as soon as she realized that she actually sat on horse poop and had a lot of stain on her hands.
Beau was laughing, “Oh this is going to be a lot of fun, heaps.”
