Chapter 50

L I N D Y

What happened?

Those were the words that I first thought of as soon as I slowly opened my eyes.

Right after I gained my consciousness back, there was pain on my cheek, my ear and my temple on the left side of my face. It was that heavy numbing feeling but just on the left part. I feel a little lightheaded as my eyes adjust to the blurry vision I have. As soon as my eyesight were adjusted, I found myself sitting on a kitchen chair.

What is happening?

My thoughts were foggy and I don’t know how the hell I got on this damned chair. I realized that my hands were tied behind my back because I can’t move them but my feet were free.

What was going on?

I tried to calm myself and tried to recall what happened to me before all this as my eyes staring at my feet. As memories begin to return in my head, I realized that I passed out after Bailey slapped me with a chopping board.

I gasped at that thought as soon as I remembered it clearly.

Bailey!

I pulled my head up right away and found a smiling Bailey standing right across me. She wore a plain white shirt, a pair of skinny jeans and some sneakers. Her facial expression looked bewildered and her eyes seemingly dilated. She looked as if she was high on drugs and her adrenaline was rushing through her veins.

“Good morning Miss Sunshine.” She says evilly with that wicked smile on her face. I looked over to the window and realized that it was still dark outside so it’s probably still night time.

My lips tremble in fear and my mind was indescribably confused.

She continues, “It is good to finally see you joining me. You were out for about an hour I thought I killed you.”

Kill, a word that I have been frightened about ever since all the terrible things started happening to me.

I tried to wiggle my arms but I was tied too tight. “Bailey what’s going on?!”

She laughs, “What’s going on?” She mocks me then laughs again. “Oh don’t worry Lindy. You won’t be able to get out from that.”

My breathing is heavy as my heart was beginning to pound against my chest.

“What the hell is going on here?!” I screamed at her.

“You see…” She begins to walk back and forth. “You are my victim.”

My tears were quick to form behind my eyelids, “What?”

“It was so easy you know. You never even suspected a thing about me from the beginning. And it was so fucking good!” She smiles blissfully and looks so damned happy with her own words.

I was too stunned to say anything while my entire body was shaking in fear.

“You thought it was all Griffin’s fault. And, I should get a reward for my best acting career.” She laughs maniacally. “I should give a thank you speech for that, in front of you and everyone else who I fooled. I mean, all this time you thought Griffin was the one after you.”

I was so wrong. I had no idea it was her all along. She was the one who was after me and I never had a slightest clue that it was her.

She gestured her hands back to herself, “It was me.”

“You.” I say angrily, still surprised that it was her.

“Yes dear Lindy. I manipulated Griffin, used his petty feelings and obsession for you and viola, here I am.” She shakes her head still laughing under her throat, “You were the one who even showed me where you live and I should thank you for that.”

She groans, “God knows how I have been dreadfully wanting to know where your house is. The security was so tight outside this neighborhood when I was following you. But you invited me and thank you for the easy access.”

I shake my head, not wanting to believe this. This has got to be a lie. But my mind goes blank and all that’s left inside is fear.

“Why?” I cried as I asked her. That was the only word that came out of my mouth because I was too shocked to think all this through. “W-Why are you doing this?”

She laughs at me.

“I thought you were nice and… And you were kind to me. Why?” I continued to ask.

“Why, you asked?” She begins to pull a knife from the counter, the same knife that Griffin held before. “Because you don’t deserve happiness.”

“What?” I asked confusedly.

“You and Harry don’t deserve happiness. That man doesn’t deserve to be happy at all!”

“Who are you to say that?!” I fought back.

“Oh, feisty. I didn’t know you had that in you. But dear Lindy, you know I wont allow you to be feeling all happy and living the perfect life you want with that asshole. How dare you get all of Harry’s good side?! How dare you get the better version of him?! After what he did to Jolene? She got the bad side of Harry and she doesn’t deserve it! You don’t deserve to be treated this way! It is unfair for Jolene!”

Jolene.

I gasped after hearing her name. , “I thought Griffin was…”

“You were all wrong.” She grins evilly with widened eyes. “Everyone assumed he was the one who orchestrated all this but you were all wrong.”

“You were the mastermind.” I muttered breathless.

“Ding! Ding! Ding!” She chimes happily like the one on those TV shows where contestants get the right answer. “You are absolutely correct!”

“So that means Griffin is the accomplice.”

“Smart, Lindy. You do deserve to be a lawyer. All hail Lindy!” She smirks while whopping her hands up. “If you make it out here alive, that is.”

“Let me out!!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.

Bailey had no fear plastered on her eyes, she looked as if she was ready to kill me here tonight. She didn’t even bother if someone would hear me. All she wanted to do was to kill me. “You all assumed it was him because I made sure the attention was on him, well to send that asshole to prison of course!”

“How dare you do that to a friend?!”

“Friend?” Her high-pitched voice echoes throughout the house. “That psycho is not my friend. I used him, that’s all.” She spats.

“How ungrateful are you? After using Griffin?!” I don’t even know why I was defending him but then this woman is much worst than anyone I have ever met.

“I have always been ungrateful my entire life, Lindy. That’s nothing new.” She grits on her teeth and continues, “That bastard was in the way of my original plans. Can you believe it? He didn’t want you to get hurt nor he didn’t want you dead.”

She laughs, “It was so easy to provoke him.”

Oh Griffin. All this time he was threatening me because this sick woman was provoking him to do so.

“But!” She chimes loudly while pulling one forefinger out. “I have a whole lot of other plans for you which are more fun and involves a lot of pain and blood splatter.”

“No.” I tremble.

“We can paint this lovely house of yours with your blood! Isn’t it exciting?!” Her happy voice sounded cynical and her imagination frightens me a lot. “I know he wouldn’t like my own plans so I had to dispose him as soon as possible.”

“How could you?!” I screamed.

“I had to put him where he needs to be.” She says.

I gaped, “You were the one who put him in jail?”

She flips her hair, “It was easy.”

“What about Martha?! Why did you put her in prison?! Why?!” I yelled at her angrily as I feel my anger raising to the roof. “She had nothing to do with you!”

“What are you talking about? She played the big part!” She exclaims and sounded so happy that it’s annoying. “I had to follow her everywhere to get that damned fingerprint and it was so easy transferring it on the box. Can you believe it? The police actually did believe it!”

“How dare you?! How could you involve innocent people?!” I feel my tears streaming all over my face as my heart was pounding hard inside my chest.

“I get what I want the way I want it.” She answers so calmly that it’s frightening.

“How could you do this to me?!” I cried as I clenched my fists behind me. “I haven’t done anything to you!!”

“You do not deserve the better version of Harry and no one else should. He’s a fucking user and only gets the good stuff out from you because he benefits from it. Once the bad things start to happen, he leaves you like nothing happened.” Her eyes widened as she stares at the floor.

I can feel her raging anger from where I am sitting and this kind of hatred and vengeance is highly dangerous. She is now enveloped with a lot of negative emotions and she is taking that anger out on me.

“I didn’t do anything to you…” I cried as I shake my head sideways. “I didn’t do anything to Jolene. Why are you threatening me? Why can’t you just accept the fact that she has passed on?!”

Her bewildered eyes travelled back to me, “Accept the fact that she has passed on?! You never lost someone in your life the way I lost her! Harry is the reason why my sister got killed. He is the reason why Jolene is not with me anymore! He killed my older sister!! He is a killer! He’s a fucking killer!!”

I trembled in fear as her scary and taunting voice echoes in the house which makes me even more frightened. There was no stain of pity in her eyes and the only thing left for me to do is plead for her to release me which is highly impossible.

“Harry didn’t want Jolene to die!” I cried and tried to sound like I was pleading for my life. I had to save myself and my babies inside me. I cannot die in here. I have to save my babies because this is what she is after.

“Ah! So he told you.” She smiles while her eyes were staring at the knife she is playing with her hands. “I bet that asshole asked for sympathy.”

“He wanted to help her. He did.” I sobbed as I tried to speak bravely. “He wanted to find her… but Leo… he… he took her somewhere else that Harry didn’t know. Harry didn’t want your sister to die!”

“I don’t fucking care!!” She yells at me as she covers her ears. “I don’t care. I don’t care! I don’t care!!” She repeats again and again before she looks back at me. “He knew my sister was married. If he didn’t have an affair with her, she won’t be gone now! Harry Styles is a murderer!”

“Leo and Jolene were already fighting before Harry got involved! Your sister wanted the affair too!” I defended Harry. “It was a mutual understanding!!”

She laughs so loud but humorlessly, “How can you defend Harry after you found out about his sinful acts!? You are a martyr girlfriend! Just like Jolene, he is just going to use you!!”

I shake my head sideways, “There’s one thing that’s different between my relationship with Harry and his with Jolene.” I spat angrily. “Harry loves me but he never loved your sister.”

She leaps towards me so fast and lands her hand right over my face slapping me on my left cheek. I grunted at the strong slap before she grabs my face abruptly while she points the knife right on my throat. Her pupils were dilated as she grabbed my face

“I will kill you first.” She adds with an evil smile. “Then, Harry will feel remorseful and will have more guilt building inside him. When he is vulnerable to pain, I will come and hunt him down and he will plead for me to kill him.” She laughs.

“Don’t do that… please.” I wept.

“And I will kill him with my own hands.” She looked crazy.

She laughs humorlessly. “Let’s play a game of hide and seek.”

“No!”

“You hide and if I find you, I kill you and your babies.” She smiles with widened eyes.

She grabs me abruptly, “Get up!!” She commands.

I tried to wiggle away, “No!! I don’t want to join you!! Let me go!!”

“Get up!!” She pulls me and I began to oblige before she could do anything to harm my twins. “You know how to play hide and seek right?”

“Untie me.” I commanded.

“Oh no no no.” She says. “That’s the fun part.” She nods vigorously with her wide eyes. “Go and hide. If I find you, I stab you to death. Fun right?”

“Please... don’t do this to me.” I pleaded as she begins to count.

“50 seconds left.” She chimes as she reminds me about the time I have left to hide.

I began to run upstairs as I hear her running the knife against the kitchen counter which makes the annoying sound. My heart keeps pounding harder inside my chest as I struggle in opening the door because my hands were tied. She planned for this. She is really planning to kill me with no way out and she is trying to have fun with it by making a fool out of myself.

“Here I come!!” Her voice from downstairs echoes through the whole second floor.
