Epilogue.-2

I shrugged. “I’ve talked with a Fallen and they said I had no special treatment despite the fact that I am apparently a highly ranked angel. I don’t want Leo and Axel knowing about me going up there. There isn’t a secret way-in anymore; I blocked that when I made my Decision.” “So what’s your plan, Alex? Why leave now if you're not going to the Angelic World yet?” Jay asked. “Have you looked at the news lately? The world isn’t a safe place anymore. Regardless of the fact that I chose right, I chose just a bit too late. There are too many Demons in this world and I need to get rid of them until I can get into the Angelic World to find Gabriel.” Maryanne watched me with narrowed eyes and a smile. “You’re really going to try aren’t you?” I nodded. “If it’s the last thing I do, I want to get him out of that place. I can either speed up the damn process before the Tribunal or take him.” “Elders won’t allow it,” Mary said as she rested her back against the lockers. “Sure you're royalty but honey if you take him that’ll only put you on the hit list too.” I shook my head as I slipped my gown off. I’d put on a black shorts and a white t-shirt with two slices where my wings would be instead of the usual dress or skirts that most of the girls were wearing. Bonnie went into her bag to hand me my white low top chucks and I changed from my heels. “I don’t care.” I said. “I’m getting him back…” My eyes strayed to the male at the end of the hallway. I watched him walk down the hall and stop next to Mary. I hadn’t seen him in six months for crying out loud what was he doing here? After my Decision he disappeared. I’d tried looking for him but nothing. I was in a depressed state for the first few months and I’m just about getting out of it now. I needed someone I trusted and knew but he’d disappeared. I Called him multiple of times but nothing. Bonnie said forget about him so I did. I stared past him as I said, “Cameron, why are you here.” “I came to see you graduate.” His voice triggering a number of memories. “I guess I’m late?” I gritted my teeth and opened my mouth to screw at him but Mary did it for me. “And where have you been while Alex here has been dying inside for the past six months?” Cam looked down at me and I turned away. “I’ve wanted to come back but--” “Cameron, I think… you should just go.” He sighed and I finally looked at him. His facial features had hardened some over the months; his hair which was usually a brighter blonde had turned ashy and his body in a defensive stance. “What have you been doing?” I looked at him from head to toe again shocked at his new appearance. “Getting rid of the Damned and the Fallen. What most Angels seem to be doing with their time now days.” He crossed his arms over his chest. That felt like a jibe… I waved it away mentally. “I think you’ve been bingeing.” I mumbled. “He doesn’t deserve your time, Alex. Let’s get going.” Mary said. I looked down at my mark as I said, “Wait outside for me.” She growled at Cam before walking out of the fire exit with Bonnie and Jay in tow. His defensive position had disappeared completely and now he seemed to have grown more relaxed. “I am truly sorry I haven’t been here for you. I wanted to so badly come back and be here for you but…” He let out an exasperated breath and looked down at my attire. “Why are you dressed like that?” I stared at him with blank eyes. “I’m leaving.” His jaw clenched briefly. “To go where?” “That is none of your business is it? You haven’t been here for me so why should I tell you anything?” He advanced forward. “Alexis--” I put my hand on his chest to stop him. I shook my head and stepped around him. “Keep in mind I’ll be gone a while. If you need me I will come. Unlike you, I can keep in contact with a friend. See you around Cameron. And try not to go too far with this killing Demons thing. I know it’s my fault that all of this has happened like everything else but it could have been worse. And I’m going to try my best to help.” I stopped beside him, tiptoed and kissed his cheek. He let out a deep breath as I pulled away. I made my way to the exit and met everyone outside. Bonnie smiled sympathetically. I only scowled at her. That’s all the looks I’d been receiving. Sympathy was a belittling thing. It made me feel small every time someone gave me that look or thought the word, “That poor girl,” or “I wonder what she does in her spare time NOW.” I usually flew away to think; to get away from everything. It took me a while to get used to flying long distances but Joe taught me to pace myself a glide. I liked to fly. I felt closer to Gabriel when I was in the sky… “Ready?” I turned to Jay and gave him a long hug. I didn’t like the fact that I was leaving but I had to do it. I did what Gabriel wanted me to do. I tried living a human, normal life but it’s hard. I kissed his cheek and said, “Please stay out of trouble. Look out for the guys. Bonnie and I will come straight away if you need help, okay?” He nodded and squeezed before moving on to Bonnie. Maryanne and I moved toward the dark football field. The air was electrically charged with tonight’s unfortunate riots. Mary looked around the sky too feeling what I was feeling. I just hoped someone was handling it. “We’ll find him, Alexis.” She surprised me by taking my hand in hers. I ignored the sting of my wings ripping from my back and turned my blue eyes onto her. “I hope so.” Bonnie joined us on the field with tears in her eyes. I stroked her cheek with a smile. “I said you don’t have to come,” She shook her head. “I’ll keep you and Mary company for a while. I can survive a bit without seeing Jay.” Her white wings came out of her baby blue shirt. “Ready when you are.” I glanced at the girls beside me and then off to the sideline where Cameron was watching beside Jay. “Alex.” I looked to Maryanne. “Promise me we’re not going to go on a rampage.” Her lip twitched upwards. I smiled at her mischievously. “You never know with me.”
