Chapter 66. Palabras

Chapter 66. Palabras
Lilly, upon hearing my last words, seemed frozen in time, not blinking or making a sound. I tensed up at the thought that I had said something too soon in such a short time. But is there really a space between moments to say it? It just felt natural to say it. Now I felt like an idiot. She finally fluttered her long eyelashes and smiled without taking her eyes off mine.

"Jackson..." she cupped my face and leaned in to kiss my lips. It was a tender and shy kiss at the same time. Had I messed up? When she pulled away, she caressed my cheeks with the tips of her fingers. "Me too."

"Really?" I asked without thinking, and she smiled more at my reaction. "Do you feel it?" She nodded.

"I feel you, Jackson." And so we stayed for a few moments, looking at each other in total silence until I remembered where we were.

"We have to go," I whispered, stroking the bump that stood out against the lace fabric of her bra.

"Yes…" she nodded. We straightened ourselves up, and when we finished, we got out of the car to get some air, especially to let the air inside the car disperse our scent. Just imagining Richard and the team figuring out what we had done made me embarrassed, but a smile appeared on my lips. A part of me didn't regret what we did; on the contrary, the adrenaline and desire had made a good match. And I wanted to do it again. Many more times. "Wait," Lilly said, approaching me subtly and adjusting my shirt. I noticed her fingers hurriedly fastening my buttons properly; I hadn't realized two buttons were undone.

"Oh, I didn't notice." I quickly glanced at her to make sure she was okay, that everything was in place, and then we heard footsteps approaching. I turned to see Richard, who looked at me with an amused, secretive expression. I just nodded. "Hmm," I cleared my throat immediately. "We have to leave now." He nodded and opened the back door, the one with the window down. I noticed his confusion, knowing I usually didn't roll down the window, so I hurried Lilly into the car.

Almost an hour later, the car stopped at the curb in front of Lilly's building. My heart raced at the thought of her leaving, so I decided to get out after her to spend a little more time together.

"Good night, Jackson," she said, about to close the door to stop me from getting out.

"Wait," I said, finishing opening the door and stepping out. I walked beside her to the building entrance. She turned to me and smiled, seeming to expect something from me. Then, I realized something. "I loved this second date…" she nodded and licked her lips. "Seriously, it was…" Lilly grabbed my coat and pulled me closer to her abruptly, a kind of impulsiveness that surprised and pleased me.

"It was the best second date I've ever had." I raised my eyebrows, surprised by her words, which touched something deep inside me. "And what you said at the end," her cheeks turned very red, her chest pressed against mine, and she looked up at me while I looked down at her. Those brown eyes were changing my perspective on life, and I liked it. "I loved it…" I captured her lips, and we lost ourselves in a passionate kiss that left us breathless until we had to pull away. I rested my forehead against hers while trying to control my emotions. "Rest well, Jackson." I stepped back and noticed something in her gaze. "I love you…" Hearing those two words now, each letter stole the little breath I had in my chest. She enjoyed that reaction, entered, and climbed the steps, pausing on one to look back at me, waving her hand in farewell. My heart raced faster. I closed my eyes and vividly imagined what had happened inside the car. When I opened them, I couldn't help but smile.

"What are you doing to me in such a short time, Lilly?" I thought about those words, the ones that kept stirring every corner of me. I let out a long sigh and then left, already anxious for our third date and the ones to follow, knowing they had to happen before the annual event. That sixth date would be my night.
