Fifty-four
Finn
“Drive faster, you fucking pussy!” I yelled at Sean, punching into the back seat.
“Y-yes, sir,” The pussy trembled, picking up the pace.
Mother couldn't have possibly arranged that ‘accident’, I mean, she's not that fucking stupid! Killing off Charles now will make us the first suspects.
She's smart. She knows that. She fucking knows that.
Unless this is really an accident and not something she had arranged.
Sean pulled the car to an abrupt halt in front of the hotel Mom had bought secretly.
Alighting from the car, I stormed into the lobby.
“Welcome to…” The words died in the mouth of the fucking receptionist as she recognized me.
“Which room is she in?”
“Uh… I… uh… sir…” She stuttered.
I slammed my fist on the fucking desk, “Don't make me fucking ask you again.”
“Y-yes s-sir! She's in s-suite 305. Tenth floor.” She answered, trembling from head to toe like a fucking idiot.
I stretched out my hand, “Spare key card.”
“Y-yes s-sir,” She handed it to me without hesitation.
I made my way into the elevator, which dropped me off on the tenth floor. I slid the key card on the device, which unlocked the door.
Mother was lounging on the bed, a cigarette clenched between her fingers, her leg on top of the other.
The look on her face told me she wasn't surprised to see me.
“Finn, what the hell…”
“Where is he?” I demanded, searching all over the place, “Where is that fucker?”
“Where is who?” She enquired.
“Oh, cut the bullshit!” I snarled, “Where is that bastard you were screwing just now?! I told you to stop screwing him, didn't I?!”
“And I told you to mind your own fucking business!” She clapped back, blowing smoke into the air.
“If I get that fucker, I'm gonna kill him. I swear.”
“Oh, good luck with that?”
“Charles got into an accident, did you hear?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest.
“Oh? Is that so?” She asked, “That's so sad then?”
“Did you do it?”
She glanced at me without saying anything, then took another pull of her cigarette and blew smoke into the air.
“Mother, I asked you a fucking question!” I snapped, my irritation simmering just beneath the surface. “Did you arrange Charles’ accident?!”
“Does it matter?”
“Does it matter, you say?” I asked in disbelief, “Mother!”
“What?!”
“You said you'd kidnap Lopez and make him talk! But you just went back on your word and arranged an ‘accident’ to kill him!”
“I did what I should have done a long time ago!” She yelled, “I got nothing on Lopez! There was nothing to use as leverage against him!”
“So then you planned to have them killed?! You should have told me! I could have planned something out!”
“Oh, yeah, right, like you'd let him live if he doesn't answer your questions. You, Finn, who doesn't know how to keep your emotions in check. Oh, puh-lease!” She waved me off and took another pull from her cigarette.
I hurried to the bed and snatched the cigarette away from him, threw it on the floor and crushed it with my feet.
“Do you have any idea what you've done?” I demanded, “If Charles ends up dead…”
“Then he ends up dead!” She gritted, pointing her sharp chin at me, “Don't stand there and act like a fucking saint, Finn, you've killed many people more than I have, and you also want Charles dead as much as I do. Deep down, you are basking in happiness that…”
“Oh, you think I haven't thought of killing that bastard?!” I bellowed, “I've thought of killing him over a million times, but we will be the first people the police…”
“The police don't know who Charles is!” She cut me off, “Charles hasn't made an appearance to the public as a son of the Herman family ever since he was born. Everyone knows that the Herman family has another son, sure, but he could be as good as dead for all they know. Even the name on his birth certificate is Charles Richards, not Charles Herman, so you're being a fucking worrywart right now.”
I clenched my teeth, glaring at the old bitch, resisting the urge to grab her by the fucking neck and smack the hoe and stupidity out of her, “I never thought that you of all people would be this so fucking stupid!”
Her eyes widened, “What did you just say?”
“Did I stutter?” I sneered, “Grandpa and that pussy Uncle Ian love that bastard. You think they'd just let this go? The first person they will suspect is you, the stepmother of the illegitimate son. Oh, you never thought of that?”
“They can do all the investigation they want, they won't find anything on me.” She stated, “The driver who hit Charles’ car is a fucking drunk, and I've gotten rid of every evidence of our crimes that Charles had. You should even be thanking me! He has the bodies of the two men you murdered recently, he had detailed proof of the illegal trafficking club you opened from the money you stole from the company, he also had detailed proof of how you've been smuggling money out of the company… God, that bastard…”
“You think I don't fucking know all that?” I snarled.
“Yes!” She sprang to her feet, her eyes glistening with fury, “So you should be thanking me, not being a fucking ingrate! I cleaned up your mess, and this is what I get?”
I exhaled, then ran my hand through my hair.
She's right. Maybe I should be fucking grateful. She's gotten rid of all the evidence Charles has on us, and Charles’ death is just the icing on the cake.
“Alright, Mother, I'm sorry.”
“You better be!” She snapped.
“I was just worked up…”
“Yeah, no shit! Charles is now dead, and we have nothing else to worry about. No fucking maggot will…”
The bang on the door cut off her words.
“Ma'am! Ma'am, it's me, open the door!”
Mother walked towards the door and opened it. Trent stood there, looking as terrified as a fucking deer caught in headlights.
“What is it?” Mother demanded, her tone raspy.
“The bodies, ma'am… they're missing.”
“What bodies?”
“The bodies of Charles and Lopez… they're… they're no longer at the scene of the accident!”
What?
“What?”
“What do you mean they're no longer fucking there?!” I roared, my heartbeat palpitating. I turned to Mother. “I thought you had this handled!”
“I did!”
“Then how did he suddenly go missing? Did he suddenly rise from the dead?” I demanded, my voice dripping with anger, venom and sarcasm.
“I don't know!”
“Charles and Lopez were dead at the time,” Trent cut in, “It gave us access to unlock both their phones, which had all the details of every piece of evidence and people he worked with.”
“Then what? How did they suddenly disappear?”
“At the time, they weren't breathing and our guy had to leave the scene at the time to avoid being caught because other cars were coming.”
“Ugh!” I groaned, covering my face with my palm.
“Someone must have called an ambulance, but we've searched every hospital and morgues near and far, and none of them has him as a patient or a corpse.”
“And what about the wrecked car?”
“Gone too.”
Ugh! Incompetence! Incompetent fools!
Gritting my teeth, I swung my fist and connected my it with his jaw, throwing him to the floor.
“Where are their phones?” I turned to Mother, who had now gone silent, “Give it to me. Now!”
Mother opened the drawer and handed me the two phones.
“If you want to kill someone, do it right! You'd better pray that bastard is dead.”
I turned and stormed out of the suite.
Charles had better be dead. That bastard better be dead!
