Chapter 137 Truly a Sweet Burden

The specific functions weren't developed yet, but I figured if we came up with a solid plan, used the tech we had, and hired a couple of game planners to brainstorm, we could totally pull it off.

Daniel asked, "Are you really planning to help Finn?"

"No way, I'm just telling you that. Until I find out the truth about my parents, I'm not lifting a finger for Finn. Helping him is like helping Mason." Who'd want to help the son of their dad's killer start a business?

"You're pretty clear-headed."

"I have to be, or I'd get all mixed up," I said seriously.

"Opportunities are limited. Why not start a company and talk collaboration with Ryder?"

"No chance! Ryder's dad is Nolan! He's a prime suspect, there's no way I'm helping Ryder!" I said, crossing my arms and puffing out my cheeks in frustration.

"Legally, if Ryder doesn't know anything, he's innocent. This kind of mutually beneficial money-making thing isn't actually bad," Daniel analyzed from a guy's perspective.

But I couldn't accept it.

I could accept Isabella because she raised me and once led the Smith Group to mess with Mason's company and cause trouble for Nolan.

Those actions made me feel like she had a plan to avenge my parents.

"I can't do it anyway, and I'm not going into business. But I might need to learn to drive again soon. Otherwise, if I run into an electric bike with no power, I'll be stuck," I said, sighing.

"Alright. Luckily, your shared electric bike ran out of power. If you'd recklessly turned back today, you might've ended up like Ryan."

"That makeup artist Tyler also fainted there. Wonder how he's getting down the mountain."

"Probably by police car or ambulance."

I laughed, thinking Tyler was somewhat lucky in his misfortune.

"I don't know how Isabella managed to bring Tyler along to Crystal Haven Estate," I remarked.

Although I knew Isabella did this to protect us and to have an outsider as a witness, I couldn't imagine what kind of scenario she was in when she hurriedly found a makeup artist.

"If it wasn't him, it would've been someone else. Just spend some money," Daniel said.

I nodded. Back home, I still felt a bit hungry and said, "Daniel, I'm hungry again. Can you make me a bowl of pasta?"

"Aren't you on a diet?"

"Fine, I'll just have an apple," I touched my stomach and sighed.

"Go to bed early later. You must've been scared!"

"No, I'm fine. At first, I didn't know Ryan was dead. When I saw Hayden was alive, I instinctively thought Ryan might be okay too. I was so focused on Hayden that I even forgot about Ryan."

So later, I felt a bit guilty. Everyone was only concerned about Hayden. What if it delayed Ryan's treatment?

Fortunately, Samuel said Ryan was dead, so everyone tacitly didn't touch him, afraid of disturbing the crime scene.

"You've got quite the guts," Daniel praised.

I pursed my lips. I did have some guts. I also thought that this time Nolan and his people might realize that I discovered my parents' death wasn't an accident.

If they come after me, I should be ready to fight back.

"We need to sleep together tonight. I thought about it, and I'm still afraid of having nightmares." I hugged Daniel's arm and acted all cute.

"When have I not slept with you?" He tapped my nose, helplessly.

"I remember sometimes you sneak off to the guest room in the middle of the night!"

"I just want you to sleep well. I'm afraid I can't control myself."

"You're in great shape!" I said, squeezing the muscles on his arm.

"Of course, I make love to you every day." With that, he picked me up horizontally.

"What are you doing! I'm still eating an apple!" I was munching on a fairly large apple, and I hadn't taken many bites yet.

"Hurry up and finish it. Soon it'll be my turn to enjoy you."

"Why are you in such a hurry? Stop it!" I pushed him with one hand, still holding the apple with the other, and chewed faster.

He carried me to the bathroom door and set me down, then brought a stool inside.

"You even prepared so many props?" I teased.

"Is it a lot? It's just some everyday furniture. I didn't buy any props. Or do you want me to bring in our toy?"

At his words, I thought of the dildo and couldn't help but cough, quickly shaking my head and refusing. "No, I don't want to use it."

I really didn't want to use it. Dealing with Daniel alone at night was already more than enough. It was truly a sweet burden.

"Looks like you still love me, just me alone," he said meaningfully.
