Chapter 47 Levi And The Haters
Levi sighed after hearing Jean's information about the problems at the academy, with Nami strongly suspected to be one of the causes. Jean, Violet, and Adam looked annoyed, but Levi remained calm, further exasperating the three of them.
Every now and then, they wanted to see Levi's angry reaction when they heard that Nami had caused trouble again. But just like before, Levi never overreacted, as if the trouble Nami had caused wasn't a big deal worth making a fuss about.
"I expected her to cause trouble again. After only a week away, she'd already destroyed the dormitory hall, fought with Prince Jacob, injured the daughter of a high-ranking left-wing party official, and worst of all, the librarian witnessed her attack on Prince Jacob, injuring him. She's truly gone mad." Violet cursed in annoyance as she discussed the series of problems Nami had caused during her week of military training.
Jean shook his head slowly, and Adam laughed sarcastically. They still couldn't understand why Levi would recommend someone with such destructive power.
"How is Nami?" Levi asked calmly. He was still thinking about Nami after everything that had happened.
"Professor Levi, the injured person is the daughter of a high-ranking member of the left-wing party and also Prince Jacob Konstantinides, the king's second son. They are the sons and daughters of the most important and influential people in this kingdom!" Adam still couldn't fathom how Levi could still be concerned about the condition of someone who always caused him trouble.
"I asked you, how is Nami? Just answer me!" Levi said firmly. He didn't like it when others tried to dictate his priorities.
"She seems fine, Professor. You know her best, don't you? She's very strong," Jean said. He didn't dare contradict Levi like Violet and Adam did.
"Do I have any schedule today?"
"You're free until four in the afternoon today, Professor!"
"Okay, Jean, get the car ready, we're going to the academy now!"
"B-but Professor, what do you want to do? At a time like this, wouldn't it be better if you stayed away for a while? Your appearance as the person who recommended Nami Ziegler would surely cause even more trouble."
"What's the name of that high-ranking party official's daughter?"
"Mariah Brown, daughter of Mr. Joseph Brown, vice chairman of the Red Wing Party."
"Joseph Brown, huh? How bad are his injuries?"
"Three broken ribs, and the condition is exactly like a high-speed collision."
"Oh my, what did she do? Can't she just go one day without causing trouble?" Violet grumbled in annoyance, because to her, the trouble Nami caused wasn't a small one that could be solved with money. Moreover, the victim was Joseph Brown's daughter, who had been very vocal in her criticism of the prime minister's policies and performance.
Levi remained silent, choosing not to respond to their angry reactions to the incident. He knew Nami well, he knew she never attacked others first, and she tried her best to be patient with others' behavior toward her, knowing that if she reacted, others would be hurt.
"Let's go now, Jean!" He said as he left.
"Okay, Professor!"
This morning was also very difficult for her. She couldn't sleep at all, even though her eyes were very sleepy. The burden of her thoughts and the emotional pressure being placed on her was starting to make her unsure of herself.
"What should I do? Should I just run away from this place? Has this problem reached Levi? What will he say if we meet? I'm dead, Levi definitely won't want to help me anymore," she thought to herself. Nami felt so frustrated that she couldn't focus on anything at the moment. She didn't even realize that Ethan was standing nearby, reading her chaotic thoughts.
"So a fool like you can get frustrated too, huh?" Ethan said sarcastically. Hearing his voice, Nami immediately turned to him.
"Don't bother me!"
"I didn't mean to bother you at all. I'm sorry if it bothers you, but I regret to inform you that you're being summoned to see Corporal Joan Hugner now!"
"That's right, I forgot I was supposed to meet him this morning with Prince Jacob. I really don't want to see that guy again!" She said, remembering what Jacob did to her yesterday. The prince had kissed her on the lips so suddenly, which made her very upset because it was her first kiss, supposedly with someone she truly liked.
"Is that so? So Prince Jacob kissed you?"
"W-what?" Nami's face immediately turned red when she realized Ethan had read her mind.
Seeing her reaction, Ethan smiled sarcastically, finally understanding why Prince Jacob had been thrown against the wall and bleeding.
"So you're scary, huh?"
"H-hey, it's not what you think! Look, I don't—"
"I don't have time to think about your kissing scene with him, I don't care. I was just asked to pick you up because I have something important to discuss."
