Chapter 793 Reconciliation and Renewed Friendship

Chapter 793 Reconciliation and Renewed Friendship

Just then, Electra called.

Margaret gave her directions and told her to come over.

Everyone quickly hid. Kevin held the flowers ready and stood in the middle of the room. All the lights went out at once.

Electra looked around at the darkness, feeling uneasy, but pushed herself forward anyway. The door let out a creak when she pushed it open, nearly making her jump.

"Margaret? Are you there? Margaret?" Electra called out, but got no answer.

She tried calling Margaret's phone. No answer. Just as she turned to leave, every light in the room suddenly blazed on, flooding the place with brightness.

Kevin stood right in the center, holding her favorite sunflowers. The whole room had been decorated with flowers and plants, like a garden in full bloom.

Electra's eyes instantly welled up. She stared at the person standing there, barely able to believe what she was seeing.

"You... what are you doing?"

Kevin stepped toward her and gently drew her to the center of the room. "You told me sunflowers are your favorite because they stand for quiet devotion — just like the way you've always been there for me. Even just watching from a distance was enough to make you happy."

"Why are you bringing this up?" Electra kept her emotions in check. She didn't want to dig up the past.

"I'm standing here today because I want to tell you —"

Kevin took a deep breath and looked straight into her eyes. "Can you forgive me?" he said softly. "For everything I've done wrong. I want us to start over. I don't know if you're willing to give me that chance."

He had rehearsed those words countless times. Today, he finally said them out loud.

Electra started to speak, but Kevin gently pressed his hand over her mouth.

"Don't say no just yet. Let me finish." He was afraid he might never get another moment like this.

"When I tried to push you away and cut things off between us, it was because I wanted to protect you. I knew there were too many people in this industry who had it out for me, and I didn't want any of that to land on you."

"After the drug scandal broke, and then everything that happened with the kidnapping — that's when I realized you're the last person I could ever stand to lose."

"You went up against my fans, my manager — all for me. I've never forgotten that."

Electra tried to speak again, but he cut her off.

"I know sunflowers are your favorite. From now on, they'll be mine too. You've always been the one looking out for me. Starting today, I want that to be my job. Will you stay? Give me one more chance?"

Kevin dropped to one knee, flowers in hand, asking only for her forgiveness.

Electra had imagined this moment so many times before.

Now that it was right in front of her, she felt strangely lost — like she couldn't quite trust that it was real.

"You really want me to..." The words died in her throat. She wasn't sure how to finish the sentence.

"I really want us to start over. I've been dreaming about this." Kevin's face was open and sincere.

Electra looked at him — that honest, hopeful face — and after a long silence, finally spoke. "I'm sorry... I don't know how to answer you. I've played this moment out in my head so many times. But from the very beginning, you never really gave me anything certain. It felt like I was the only one all in, just waiting for you to come around."

"And now that you have... I'm scared to believe it." The pain was sharp, like something pressing against her chest. Every part of her wanted to say yes — this was the person she had chosen without hesitation, once upon a time.

But her head won out. She didn't want to go through all of that again.

"I know I've hurt you. I'm not asking you to forgive me. I'm just asking for a chance to be there for you." Kevin was still on one knee, showing no sign of getting up.

Margaret could see things weren't going as smoothly as hoped. She stepped over and pulled Electra aside, while William helped Kevin to his feet.

"Are you still unsure?" Margaret asked, resting a hand on Electra's shoulder.

"Margaret... I'm scared. I can support him from a distance, I can do anything for him behind the scenes — but standing here and saying yes to his face? I can't do it." You'd have to be truly broken to push happiness away when it's right there within reach.

Margaret understood. "I didn't bring you here to force an answer, and I'm not rushing you into anything. I just wanted you to see how serious he is. Whether or not someone ends up being your partner, you first need to know if their heart is actually with you."

That landed.

"Margaret, I trust you."

"Then can you try trusting him, just once? I promise you — if Kevin ever goes back on a single word he said today, I'll be the first one to deal with him, before you even get the chance." Margaret wanted to give Kevin the chance to make things right. She also didn't want Electra to let fear cost her the person she loved.

Things went more smoothly on William's end.

"Hold on, don't give up. You can tell Electra's torn." William sat in a chair while Kevin's eyes stayed fixed on her.

"I know... I'll keep trying."

Then Kevin walked over to Electra and gave Margaret a small nod.

"Give me three months to prove myself. If I do anything wrong in that time, you can do whatever you want with me."

The old Kevin never could have said something like that.

Electra was quiet for a long moment. Then finally: "...Okay. I will."

Smiles broke out across the room. Kevin and Electra held each other tight.

"I'm going to post about us right now and tell everyone." Kevin could barely wait to announce it to the world.

Electra shook her head. "The three-month trial isn't over yet. Every decision you make during that time has to go through me first."

Kevin laughed helplessly.

The two of them had finally found their way back to each other. Margaret felt genuinely happy for them.

Back home, Margaret — worn out from the past few days — was asleep the moment she hit the pillow.

William, on the other hand, stayed up all night in the study working through the backlog at his company. It wasn't until early the next morning that he finally leaned back and stretched.

He went back to the bedroom to find Margaret still fast asleep. The housekeeper downstairs had already set out breakfast.

He wanted to wake her up for a bite before she went back to sleep, so he lay down beside her and called out softly, "Honey... time to get up..."

His voice was as gentle as a cat's purr.

Margaret didn't move.

"Come on, breakfast is ready..."

No matter how many times William called, she didn't so much as stir.
