Chapter 788: Find Kevin

Chapter 788: Find Kevin

Electra was completely fed up. She glared at the reporter with pure hatred. "You're disgusting."

"Thanks for the compliment." Without waiting for Electra's response, the reporter reached into her bag and pulled out her phone and recorder.

He examined the recorder carefully, then suddenly smashed it on the floor.

"What are you doing?" Electra snapped.

"You're practically a household name. Why are you using a fake recorder?"

Electra was stunned. She had bought that recorder at a nearby store. Had someone been playing her from the very beginning?

Now the recorder was gone, and the recordings and videos on her phone had been deleted too.

She had walked away with nothing — and worse, she'd blown her cover.

She was so furious she lost count of how many times she cursed the reporter under her breath.

"Alright, I think I've got everything I need. Feel free to look me up if you ever need anything." The reporter left looking perfectly satisfied.

Electra slammed her fist on the table, then downed the rest of her coffee in one go. The bitter, sour taste spread through her throat.

Meanwhile.

Margaret and William headed straight to the security department when they arrived at the company.

They had a lead on the license plate of the black sedan they'd been investigating. As long as they followed that thread, they were sure they'd find Kevin.

"Any updates?" Margaret asked the moment she walked in.

"We've identified the owner of the black sedan and tracked down her address." The people at Margaret's company were as efficient as ever, which put her mind at ease.

"Since we have the address, can we just go there ourselves?" She wanted to handle it personally — handing it off to someone else always seemed to create more problems.

"Hold on. Let me go check it out first. I'll call you once I know more." William tried to calm her down.

Around the same time, Electra arrived at the company and went straight to Margaret's office.

She pushed open the door, found it empty, and waited outside.

A short while later, both Margaret and William showed up. Electra quickly filled Margaret in on what had just happened.

"These people are out of control. We need to teach them a real lesson this time." She couldn't believe the reporters had zero sense of ethics.

Margaret had always maintained decent relationships with the various entertainment companies — her firm represented so many artists, after all, and keeping those doors open mattered. But there were always a few people who had to stir things up and make everything more complicated.

"You two wait here. I'll be right back."

William got them settled, then headed down to the parking garage on his own.

Margaret was still uneasy. She grabbed Electra and followed William down to the garage, then got in the car.

"Why did you two follow me?" William said, visibly annoyed.

"Finding Kevin comes first."

So all three of them drove off together toward the address they had tracked down.

It led to an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. Logically, no one should be out there — which meant Kevin had almost certainly been taken there.

The more Margaret thought about it, the angrier she got. A well-known artist, just kidnapped like that?

They pulled up outside the factory. From the outside, it looked like a complete wreck — like no one had set foot inside in years.

"There are no cars nearby. They probably just left. We need to move fast. Stay behind me, and if their people spot us, you two run." William was trying to keep the risk as low as possible.

The three of them moved low and made their way inside. The factory had three floors, all of them in rough shape — clearly abandoned for a long time.

They checked the first floor. Nothing. Then moved up to the second. Also empty.

The third floor was their last shot. Just as they were about to head up, they heard something on the second floor.

"Wait — I think I heard something." Margaret held up her hand and stopped them.

They went back to the second floor and followed the sound until they spotted a small, beat-up door ahead.

William moved the other two behind him, stepped up to the door alone, and kicked it open in one hard blow.

There was Kevin — tied up, mouth gagged, rope wrapped around his whole body.

"Get him untied, quick!"

Margaret and Electra rushed in and started working on the ropes.

Electra was so relieved she couldn't hold back her tears.

"You're finally here. Let's go — someone comes every day." Kevin urged them the moment he could speak.

"Stop crying, stop crying — we need to move now."

William kept watch at the door, glancing back inside every few seconds. "Hurry up. I can see their car."

None of them lingered. There was no time to catch up. Margaret and Electra helped Kevin along while William led the way. They made it back down the stairwell to the first floor.

William stopped and whispered sharply, "Get down."

The kidnappers had arrived.

Kevin pointed toward the back. "There's a side door back there. That's how they came in."

Which meant the front entrance was still clear.

They exchanged a quick look. Margaret pointed toward the direction of their car and listened as the voices gradually faded.

They grabbed Kevin and made a run for William's car.

They had barely cleared the open ground when someone shouted from behind, "They're gone! They're getting away! Stop them!"

"Get in the car!" William shouted as he ran, the men behind them closing in fast.

They all piled in. William leaped into the driver's seat. Margaret took the front passenger seat while Electra and Kevin sat in the back.

The men were nearly on them. William hit the ignition immediately.

"These people are not the kind you want to mess with. We need to get out of here now — if they catch us, it won't be good." Kevin warned them from the back seat.

He wasn't wrong. These guys looked serious and aggressive. No idea who was behind it, but whoever hired them clearly meant business.

Margaret kept checking the rear window. "They're following us."

The city limits were almost in sight when William's expression tightened. Something felt off. He jerked the wheel and shot onto a highway, pushing the car to a speed most people couldn't match.

"When we get to the toll booth, make sure no one sees you. This highway runs close to their territory — they might have people waiting there." Margaret was thinking through every angle, making sure nothing caught them off guard.
