Chapter 776: Scandal Breaks Out

Chapter 776: Scandal Breaks Out

Margaret had no choice but to comfort him, saying, "It's okay, it's okay, as long as you're alright."

William stood quietly to the side. When he saw Philip's hand about to rest on Margaret's shoulder, his eyes immediately snapped open in alert.

Philip realized he had overreacted. He cleared his throat a couple of times and forced himself to calm down.

"Thank you both."

Margaret thanked their hosts again. Fortunately, the family was very kind and brought out food to share with them.

Soon, Philip noticed something was off.

"Hey, where's Fiona?"

At the mention of Fiona, Margaret's heart gave a sudden jolt.

Her hands were still bandaged — all because of Fiona.

But Fiona was Philip's first love, and it was clear he trusted her deeply.

Still, things had gone this far, and Margaret had no choice but to tell him the truth.

"Philip, look."

Margaret held up her heavily bandaged arm in front of him.

Philip looked confused. He pointed at her injured arm. "What happened?"

"Mr. Mitchell, Fiona did this."

The officer answered. Luckily, Philip could understand the local language — otherwise, communicating with the family the night before would have been a real problem.

Hearing that, Philip froze.

"Fiona? How could she..."

Philip couldn't bring himself to believe it, but the facts were right there. Margaret felt just as helpless.

"Yes, it was her."

Margaret nodded. "She was working with Calla too. If William hadn't shown up in time to save me, I might not have made it."

Listening to Margaret, Philip was both shocked and hesitant.

He frowned. "Fiona has always been so sweet around me. I can't believe she would do something like this..."

At the mention of Calla, Philip raised an eyebrow.

"Is that the same person who tried to hurt you before?"

"Yes."

Margaret nodded, then looked at the officers. "Thankfully, they've both been taken to the police station. Philip, if you don't believe me, you can go check for yourself."

At this point, Margaret had no choice but to tell Philip everything.

"But she has no reason to go after you."

Philip frowned, struggling to accept what he was hearing.

"I don't know why either."

Margaret shook her head. "And last night, Fiona... she really did try to seduce William..."

Margaret said quietly. That kind of betrayal would be hard for anyone to take.

Hearing that, Philip's eyes darkened.

"Really?"

He still couldn't quite accept it.

"Officer, I'm Fiona's boyfriend. Can I ask what exactly she did wrong?"

Philip turned to the officer nearby, looking a little embarrassed.

"Sir, this young lady is the victim. What she said is true."

The officer confirmed Margaret's account. Philip lowered his head.

He could only blame himself for misjudging someone. With everything that had happened, Philip had no choice but to accept the truth.

Soon, after everyone had rested, they gave the family some money as thanks and said their goodbyes.

With Margaret injured, it wasn't safe to stay any longer. They needed to get back home for treatment as soon as possible.

In the end, Margaret and the others had no choice but to cut the trip short and head back.

Philip, shaken by what Fiona had done, had no desire to keep traveling either, so he went back with them.

Fortunately, Margaret's wounds had been treated in time. By the time they got home, the cuts had already started to scab over, though her back was still bruised.

Every day, William helped Margaret apply her medicine with a gentle touch. Within a few days, her wounds were healing well.

The Bishop Villa.

Her belly felt tight and ached dully. Juniper had no idea what was going on, only that it seemed to be getting worse.

She lay on the bed and shifted to her side, but the cramping didn't go away. If anything, the heavy, sinking feeling in her lower abdomen grew stronger.

"How can this be happening..."

Juniper murmured weakly, worn out in body and mind as she thought about everything that had happened recently.

"Ah, it hurts!"

Suddenly, Juniper's brow creased tight. The pain that hadn't even eased yet came back even harder.

Something's wrong...

A wave of unease washed over her. Worried about the baby, she thought it over and decided to call Samuel.

She picked up her phone, found his number, and was about to call — then hesitated.

Was he busy right now? Would she be bothering him?

Juniper went back and forth about whether to tell him she was in pain.

Cold sweat beaded on her forehead, and she felt oddly cold.

Hoping to get through it, she tried to relax and took some slow, deep breaths.

After a while, the pain gradually faded, and the tightness in her belly eased back to normal.

Juniper let out a breath of relief. Still worried about the baby's health, she decided to call Samuel and ask when he'd be back so they could talk about going to the hospital for a checkup.

At that same moment, Samuel was on set, busy reshooting a few long takes.

His phone buzzed on the table in the break room, went quiet for a moment, then buzzed again.

Rainey happened to be walking past the break room just then. She heard the vibrating inside and stopped without really meaning to.

She followed the sound and spotted Samuel's phone sitting on the table.

Curiosity got the better of her. She walked over and saw it was Juniper calling.

"Disgusting."

The moment she saw Juniper's name, Rainey's expression turned to contempt.

She shut the break room door and, just to get under Juniper's skin, picked up the call.

"Hello, Samuel, are you still on set?"

The call connected, and Juniper's voice came through.

Rainey narrowed her eyes and immediately snapped back in a haughty tone, "What do you want with Samuel? He doesn't have time to talk to you right now."

Juniper's mind went blank for a second. She hadn't expected Rainey to be the one who answered.

She steadied herself and replied calmly, "I'm calling for Samuel. Put him on."

But Rainey wasn't having it. She shot back in a sharp, shrill voice, "Why should I? Who do you think you are?"

Juniper had no idea why Samuel would be with Rainey, or why his phone wasn't with him.

Could it be that he had lied to her and never went to the set at all?

Her thoughts churned, but she told herself not to panic.

At the very least, she wasn't going to let Rainey see her fall apart.

She took a breath and kept her voice steady. "I'm Samuel's fiancée. I'm carrying his baby. He's the father."

Hearing Juniper use the baby to pull rank on her, Rainey was momentarily at a loss for words.

That was the one thing she couldn't stay calm about — the deepest wound she had.

Samuel was already so devoted to Juniper, and now with a child in the picture, the two of them would be tied together for life.

A jealousy she couldn't put into words slammed into Rainey's chest. Her face flushed red, anger spreading fast across her features.

If she could, she would have loved nothing more than to kick Juniper right in the stomach.
