Chapter 81

Chapter 81
Guilia POV:

It had been three weeks of making goo-goo eyes at this doctor. I thought doctors were supposed to be hot, but this guy is balding, overbite, glasses. No wonder he worked in a nuthouse.

I had to think, Daddy dearest, for my imprisonment here. But I was this close to getting out, and when I did, you better believe that he was going to pay. I batted my lashes at the doctor, and he came running over.

“ How are you today, Guilia?” He looked at his clipboard to make it seem like he was working.

“I’m really lonely,” I pouted and touched the tip of my toe to his leg, and he practically flinched. Poor, poor Doctor Herbert. He really needed some affection.

I mean, not from me like ew, but if he wasn’t so desperate, it wouldn’t be this easy. I had him eating out of my hand for just a smile. I was worried I’d have to kiss him or something when I first started flirting with him, but now it takes the smallest smile, and he’s panting like a hound dog.

I suppose I should feel bad about that, but like what the point he was trying to take advantage of a mentally unstable young woman from his perspective. He’s a creep, so he totally deserves it.

“I’d love some company at night, any chance of a roommate?” I asked.

“Yes, it looks like they’ll be arriving tonight,” he mumbled, blushing.

I gave him a grand smile before running off. All this hard work was about to pay off. Our little coded message at the start of the day was to see if it was my day to check out.

He had to find someone who looked enough like me to take my place, and then, out the window I went! I was practically skipping down the hallway to my room. Of course, I hadn’t thought this up; I had just used Dr. Herbert’s brains for me. Like I used the brawn of my father's men, I know I had everything I wanted.

I was going to have to sneak back into my house to get stuff, but once I had my phone and some cash, I was going to make Daddy pay for putting me here. So what if I was going to turn him in he deserved it, constantly putting me on house arrest, and favoring that bitch over me. He had to learn his lesson.

It took every ounce of patience I had, which wasn’t a lot, but finally, nighttime came. I almost hugged him when he brought in this smelly little homeless girl who stared awkwardly between us.

“Do I still get the bed?” She asked. “And food?”

“You get it all,” I nodded, and she looked around the room with awe.

I didn’t even bother as I grabbed Dr. Herbert’s hand. “Are we ready?” I asked, and he nodded.

We left the room, ducking down dark hallways and up the stairs. So many stairs. I whined, but he just raised a finger to his lips as a security guard passed the stairwell door. Up and up and up we went until we made it to the roof. From there was apparently the hard part. He thought I was going to climb down a rope to get out of here. Was he crazy?

“I cannot believe that is your idea, that is like the oldest trick in the book,” I scoffed, crossing my arms.

“For good reason, no security on the roof, and nobody is in the east wing, so we have easy access out.”

“So why don’t we just go out the east wing?” I shrieked.

“There are still the bottom three floors full of security, doctors, and patients,” he smiled at me.

I was going to smack him if he looked at me like that while I was upset with him; it was so gross. He shouldn’t look down on me. I was so sick of everybody looking down on me.

“Oh, before we go,” he grabbed my hand. I felt my stomach turn with disgust. He knelt down and pulled out a ring.

I totally hope he couldn’t see my face because what the actual fuck! This wasn’t in the plan. He was supposed to leave me alone after we escaped, not want to marry me. Just how starved for affection was this man?

I had no choice. I put on a bright smile and took the ring. It was way too small a diamond for a doctor like me to care if it was his mother's.

“We can start a new life,” he began talking to me as we headed closer to the edge. “I have a long-standing offer in Minnesota, at the Mayo, you can take the kids to ice skate,” he chuckled.

Ugh! Do I look like a hockey mom? I growled, clenching my fists. I was so tired of everybody deciding my fate for me. Telling me what to do and how to do it, never again.

He handed me a harness and hooked me u to the rope. Okay, at least he’d thought this out more.

“You’ll go down first and wait in the bushes, okay?” he smiled, bringing his hand up to my face as if he was going to kiss me.

I should have thought about it more, but he was becoming a real problem in a short span of time. I pushed him as hard as I could, and oops, down he went.

I looked over the edge of the building as he screamed down and then. That was one loud thud, I sighed as I yanked off the harness and propelled down the building.

I got down in one piece, shocked at how easy that was. I walked over to him, checking if he was still around. He lay there motionless with no breath. I patted his head before walking off. Thank you, doctor.

Just as he promised, his beat-up Buick was on the other side of the woods. It was still so rude that I’d had to walk through the woods. If he were smarter, maybe he’d still be alive. I raised a hand to my mouth to stop a chuckle from sneaking out.

It took a minute after getting in the car to figure out where I was, but eventually I saw a shopping district I went to with Marco one time to find some wedding shoes. Marco…

He was my fiancé, and he just let them take me. What a total loser. He would have to be punished for that. I had put so much effort into wrapping him around my finger, and for what, to be thrown in the loony bin on his watch. I don’t think so.

I turned on the radio, trying to find some good music,  the news,  ew.

“Domenic Caputo losing his cool in court the other day still seeming to affect the trial as Giovanni Riscis testimony was damning today,” the words crackle do the speakers and I slammed on the breaks.

No. Way.

She’d done it. My sister had actually done it. She’d put him on trial, I don’t know what for, but they’re actually gonna put him away?

What do I do now?
