Chapter 60

I sat in the corner of my room, trying to calm my frantic heartbeat. Today was the day I had been waiting for all this time. I had planned everything carefully, making sure every detail went perfectly. The past few days, I prepared myself, holding back the hatred and resentment that kept bubbling up in my chest. Today, it would all be over.

The door to my room opened, and Zask's figure appeared there. His gaze was calm, but there was something intimidating about the way he looked at me. "Lana," he said in a soft tone that made me sick. "You look better today."

I forced a smile, even though in my heart I wanted to scream all my hatred at him. "Yeah, I feel a little better," I replied, my voice as soft as possible.

I wanted to kick him in the face right now, but I couldn't do that before I managed to embed the Bitfrox crystal into this alien's body.

Zask walked over, sitting next to me. I could feel the warmth of his body as he looked at me more closely. "I want you to know, I want you to feel comfortable here, Lana. I want us to be... closer," he said as he gently stroked my hair.

I refrained from overreacting. "Closer?" I asked, pretending not to understand.

He smiled faintly. "Yes. You know what I mean, Lana. We've kept our distance for too long. I want us to go back... like we used to."

Like old times? Since when did he and I get close? All the pseudo-romance that was created before this turned out to be just temporary entertainment for me, I had already realised that my relationship with Zask was not something. It's not important at all.

I knew what he meant. He wanted to dominate my life again, treating me like a puppet that he could control at will. But today, I was going to prove to him that I was no puppet.

"I'm not sure," I replied, feigning doubt. "I still feel... not ready for it. Especially after I lost my baby-to-be."

Zask looked troubled, of course, because I had been the fulfilment of his lust all along. I've memorised the nature of men, before his biological desires are fulfilled he will become a dazed figure.

"Lana, losing a foetus is painful, but you don't have to regret it forever," Zask said.

I was getting sick of hearing his words, there was no empathy in them at all. I wanted to leave him right now.

Zask brought his face closer to mine, his voice becoming softer. "Lana, I know you still feel something for me. I can see it in the way you look at me."

What the hell? Does he have no shame? It turns out that not only humans can have NPD, but even aliens can have the disease. She was so confident that she didn't realise that I didn't like her at all.

I held back my disgust. She was so confident, as if I really still had feelings for her. In fact, all I felt was deep hatred. "Alright," I finally replied, my voice trembling slightly. "But... don't rush things."

He smiled smugly, as if he had won something. "Of course," he said as he gently rubbed my cheek.

When he started to approach, I prepared myself. The Bitfrox crystal I had tucked under my clothes was cold, almost as if it reminded me of the great task I had to accomplish. I thought to myself, It's time.

Zask began to wrap his arms around my body, pulling me closer. I was disgusted, but I had to keep role-playing. Slowly, I let my hands touch his shoulders, pretending to respond to his embrace.

"I knew you would come back to me," he whispered in my ear.

Those were the last words I heard before I acted. With a swift movement, I grabbed the Bitfrox crystal from under my clothes and plunged it into his side.

Zask was startled, his eyes widening as pain spread through his body. "Lana... what are you doing?" his voice trembled, full of disbelief.

I stepped back, watching him fall to the floor, his body shaking violently. The crystal emitted an eerie blue-green light, spreading around his body. I couldn't help the satisfied smile that appeared on my face.

"This is my reward, Zask," I said, my voice cold. "For all the pain you gave me."

He tried to move, but his body was too weak to resist the crystal's effects. "Lana... you..." his voice faded, but his eyes still looked at me with an intensity that was hard to ignore.

I stood there, watching his body slowly lose its strength. A sense of satisfaction filled my heart, but behind it was a slight empty feeling that I couldn't explain.

However, before I could fully savour my victory, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door. I turned my head, and my heart stopped when I saw Zerg standing in the doorway.

"Well done, Lana," he said as he stepped inside. His gaze was full of satisfaction, but there was something strange in his expression.

"Zerg," I called, trying to understand what was going on. "What are you doing here?"

He approached, his eyes looking down at Zask's body lying on the floor. "I came to make sure you completed your task," he replied.

"I already did," I said firmly. "Zask is incapacitated. You can take over after this."

However, instead of being satisfied, Zerg looked at me with a sly smile. "You think this is about taking power?" he asked, his voice full of sarcasm.

I sensed something was wrong. "What do you mean, Zerg?"

He approached with slow steps, but there was something intimidating about the way he moved. "Lana, you're really naive. I never intended to let you go so easily."

His words made my blood run cold. "What did you say?" I asked, my voice filled with fear.

Zerg stood right in front of me, looking at me with a cold gaze. "You were merely a tool to avenge me on Zask. And now that he's fallen, you're no longer of any use to me."

I backed away slowly, trying to keep my distance from him. "Zerg, I helped you... you can't do this to me!"

He laughed softly, filled with satisfaction. "Sorry, Lana. But I never cared about you. You were just a pawn in this game."
