Chapter 58

Holding my head, I tried to think of the next step. That Bitfrox crystal was the key to everything, but I couldn't afford the slightest mistake. If I failed, not only would I be jeopardised, but also everything I had planned all this time.

I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself down. Today was going to be a long day, and I needed to stay focused.

I sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the blank wall in front of me. Anxious thoughts kept overtaking me. I knew that today was an important day, but somehow I felt like something bad was going to happen. I tried to catch my breath, taking in a deep breath of air to ease the agitation that kept haunting my mind.

Zerg had said that the Bitfrox crystal had already arrived on earth, and his team was making sure the shipment was safe. However, until now, I hadn't heard anything from him. Time seemed to be passing very slowly, and I felt like I was on the verge of collapse.

I turned my gaze towards the door, hoping that someone would come with good news. But there was only silence, which made my chest tighten even more. I started pacing back and forth in the room, trying to calm myself down.

Just then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw an alien pass in front of the room. His appearance seemed ordinary, like any other servant in this base. However, there was something strange about her movements.

I stopped my steps and watched her closely. The alien paused for a moment, looked back at me, then gestured with his hand. Its movements were quick, but I could see there was a certain pattern in the way it moved.

"What is it doing?" I thought.

The alien resumed its steps, but not as usual. He walked slowly, as if he was deliberately giving me time to observe the direction he was heading. I felt my heart beat faster. Who was he? What did he want?

My mind immediately jumped to various possibilities. Was he part of the Zerg team who wanted to give me information? Or, even worse, was he working for Zask and spying on me?

I hesitated to act. But at the same time, I knew that I couldn't throw away this opportunity. If that alien was really carrying information about the Bitfrox crystal, I had to take the risk.

With slow steps, I walked out of the room, making sure that no one saw me. The alien had almost disappeared down the hall, but I could still follow its footsteps. I held my breath every time I heard the sound of another footstep, afraid that someone would catch me.

The alien led me through passageways that I had rarely travelled before. I tried to remember every twist and turn, but my nerves made it hard to concentrate.

When we finally stopped, I saw the alien standing in front of a door with a sign that read "Broken." It was the servants' loo, a place that didn't seem to get many visitors.

'Perhaps this is the toilet the alien was referring to earlier. I need to go in right away so I can find the stone,' I said inwardly.

He waved his hand once more, giving one last gesture before turning around and disappearing around the corner.

I stood in front of the door, trying to make sense of what had just happened. Was this a trap? Or was this really the place Zerg was referring to?

My hand trembled as I reached for the doorknob. I tried to take a deep breath, but the nervousness wouldn't go away.

"Calm down, Lana. You have to believe in yourself," I whispered softly.

I glanced around me to make sure no one was watching me. The hallway was empty, but I still felt wary. If someone saw me here, they would definitely get suspicious. Plus this toilet had been marked as a broken toilet, so if anyone entered here, it would definitely look suspicious.

Finally, carefully, I opened the door and stepped inside the toilet. The room was dark and quiet, with only a little light coming in through the crack above the door. A musty odour filled the air, indicating that this room had not been used for a long time.

I stepped deeper, trying to find clues about the Bitfrox crystal. My heart was beating fast, and I felt like someone was watching my every move. I searched for a while, but I still hadn't found the crystal. There was at least a container involved where the crystal was placed, but I still couldn't find anything like that. I was getting more and more nervous.

"Is this really the place?" I asked myself.

I looked around, my eyes adapting to the darkness. It looked like a normal toilet, but there was something strange about one of the walls. A small, almost invisible panel was embedded there.

I nudged an object, unluckily because of that there was quite a loud noise caused by the object. I clucked and calmed myself down, while approaching the panel I saw just now.

I approached the panel, my hands trembling as I tried to touch it. There was something behind this wall, I could feel it.

Before I could continue, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door. I immediately stopped, holding my breath, hoping the sound was just my imagination. But the steps were getting closer, making me panic.

'Damn, it must be the sound of that thing. What should I say if someone finds out I'm here?' I thought anxiously.

I quickly hid in one of the cubicles, trying to conceal myself. My heart was beating fast, and I found it hard to breathe.

The door opened, and someone walked in. I couldn't see who it was, but I knew that I had to keep quiet. I couldn't see the figure yet because my view was blocked by something, but I kept looking at the figure from where I was. It seemed to be an alien, of course, because I was the only human here. I was very worried that it was Zask although it was unlikely because why would he come here, unless I had been followed since before. Then it's a sign of the end of my life.
