Chapter 20 — Luna
Sophia's POV:
"Oh. My. God!" was Niti's first comment when she saw me. Did she know? How did she know what had happened? Maybe she was just saying this because she saw me get off Victor's bike.
She just nodded toward Victor before dragging me with her into the school, away from my stepbrothers and into a more isolated place. I could hear Daddy's chuckle in my head. This whole telepathy thing was still weird for me.
"You and Victor? Finally?" she asked.
"How did you know?" I asked the obvious question.
"You smell like him," she replied like it was nothing, and I looked at her in confusion. Wait, how could she smell Victor on me? "He didn't tell you? Really?" she asked, offended.
I looked at her but still didn't get it, so I decided to ask Daddy about it. I tried my best to think about him and send him a message, "Is Niti correct?" was all I had to say before he replied. "Yes, she's a wolf, baby girl," was his reply. Now, my mouth did fall open in shock. She didn't tell me! And he didn't tell me! Those two traitors!
"Tell me all about it! Did you do the…?" she asked with a wink.
"Niti!" I said in a squeaky voice. She just said, "What?" and laughed.
"How did you know?" I asked her again.
"You smell like the Alpha. Well, you smell of Alpha and just a little bit of you," she said.
"What Alpha?" I asked again.
"The Alpha, Victor, your mate," she explained.
"Daddy?" I asked through our bond.
"Yes, baby girl?" he replied.
"Are you the Alpha?" I asked, not really believing it.
"Yes, I am," he replied like it was nothing.
"Did you ask him?" Niti asked with a smirk. How did she know so much!
"No fair, Niti! How do you know so much?" I squeaked in a guilty voice.
"You're just adorable. I bet you're a Little too and hiding it from me," she accused.
"NITI! How!" I yelled. Okay, she won. How did she know this much about me?
"Alpha Victor is a Daddy. You showed some Little behaviors. I'm not stupid, you know," she said, and I nodded. She was not stupid at all.
"Come on, you can tell me all about it after school," she said, and I nodded yes. We needed to sit down and talk for sure.
All during class and school hours, every time I passed by, people's heads would turn toward me. Some would look at me with big, wide eyes. Others would just nod at me while I passed. Kyle and Niti were having too much fun behind my back when they asked teachers to forgive them for their missing homework, saying they were busy with me. Then, in PE, Niti said we couldn't play. The teacher took one look at me and nodded his head, letting us sit on the bench while the others had to run laps.
When lunchtime came, I ran toward Victor. All this extreme attention was getting the best of me. I couldn't take anymore from this. He pulled me into his arms and just growled. It was a low voice, but I could hear it and feel his chest rumbling. Everyone looked the other way now. No one was sparing us a look. Finally, I could breathe.
"You okay, baby?" Daddy asked, and I just nodded my head. I was feeling too overwhelmed right now but trying my best not to slip into my Little self.
The rest of the day passed a bit better. No one was looking at me the same way, and Victor told Kyle off about using me to get out of his schoolwork. When the day finally passed, I was exhausted. I wanted to leave but also wanted some answers from Niti. She was not one to hide things from me.
"I'm going over to Niti's," I told Daddy once the school was over. He looked at me and then at Niti before replying.
"Sure. Just stay out of the woods," he said.
We got into her car and took off toward her place. We passed the grocery store and got tons of snacks and ice cream before making it to her house. It was the first time I'd gone to her place. Her mother was home, and her head snapped up when she saw me walking in. She bowed to me and called me 'Luna.'
I blushed and mumbled a "Hello" before Niti dragged me to her room. We sat on the floor with all our snacks, and she began her explanation.
"What does Luna mean?" was my first question.
"Luna is you. The mate of the Alpha," she explained.
"How do I smell?" I asked her.
"Like your mate. You always smell like the more dominant one. Vic has been marking you since day one, but now, you smell totally like him."
"Mark me?" I asked.
"Yes. He'd leave his scent on you so other wolves wouldn't get close to you," she explained. Possessive much? "Also, I should warn you: all wolves are extremely possessive. That includes our Alpha, Luna." She said the last word with a bow.
"Why did you bow?" I asked, worried.
"Respect, girl. You deserve respect," she added with a wink. I didn't think that was very respectful.
