Chapter 23 The wedding dress
Chapter 23 The wedding dress
They were walking out of the eatery and had just stepped outside when Sophia looks up and saw Callum standing outside, leaning lazily on his car, the phone glued to his ear.
His eyes run down her length the moment the door opens and she steps out of the door, with a man and another lady next to her. “Let me call you back.” Callum says ending the call and tucking his phone into his pocket. His eyes run down her again, taking note of the smile on her lips and in her eyes, and right then, he knew he had made the right decision. Having this people come over to be with her, was the right decision. He sees the people beside her staring at him, and immediately, he remembers he is supposed to be a man in love. A man who was getting married that very day should be a very happy man especially if they were claiming to marry for love. So he immediately puts on a big smile. “Sophia.” He calls excitedly opening his arms as he begins to head towards her.
It was the way he called her name, it had her insides doing those flips she had experienced a lot yesterday while they moved around town together. He sounded overly into his character. Was it because of Martin and Mira? Fine, she too had to get into character. “Callum dear, it is a wonderful surprise to see you here.” She says just as he arrives and pulls her into a hug, wrapping his hands around her. “I thought I would not be seeing you till noon?”
He nods. “I know. But once he called me to tell me they had both arrived, I started to feel a little emotional you all will be having a lot of fun without me. So here I am.” Callum says pulling away. Martin and Mira step forward.
Stretching forward his hand to Callum. “Martin Muriel.” He introduces himself. “One and only manager of Sophia the First.”
His smile still on. “Callum Kennington, one and …” he glances at Sophia, “... one and only fiancé of Sophia the first.” Callum says looking back at Martin, and taking his hand in a handshake.
Smiling, “It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Callum.”
Callum nods. “And you must be Mira. I have heard a lot about you.” Callum lies.
Mira beams up excitedly. “Really?” She asks.
Nodding his head. “Really. I hope the trip was not too uncomfortable?” Callum asks both of them. The both shake their head in unison.
“Not at all, it was not.” Martin says. “Thank you for sending the private jet to pick us -” He stops when he sees Callum shake his head at him. But it was already too late, he had already blurted the words out. Looking from Sophia to Callum again. “Ah… was it supposed to be a secret?” He asks Callum who nods slowly at him. Martin looked at Sophia again who was now staring at Callum with widened eyes. “I guess I ruined it then. I am sorry.” He says to Callum.
“You sent a private jet all the way to the State to pick them up?” Sophia asks still in surprise. “That was -
“I would have sent a car to pick them up … no, I had a car ready to pick them up the moment they landed, but they insisted on taking a cab.” Callum says.
“You did not have -
Turning to Martin, “I thought you said you all had a busy schedule before it was time for the wedding? Why are we still here talking about something we will obviously have enough time to talk about later? Are you sure you have enough time for this?”
Shaking his head. “Not even near enough.” Martin says, then glances at his wristwatch. “Our ride should be arriving -
“Cancel it. We will use my car.” Callum says stretching his hand to Sophia. “Give Max all the directions, he will take us there.”
“That is what I am talking about.” Martin screams excitedly. “You, Mr. Callum, are my new favorite.” He says already heading over to the other side of the car with Mira.
Turning to him, “Martin attaches himself to people easily, do not let him grow on you.” Sophia says taking Callum's hand and climbing into the car. He steps in after her.
“Did you get the list you asked for from my secretary?” Callum asks Martin once the vehicle moved.
Nodding, “Yes I did. First stop, we are heading to the next town to shop for our dress of the day. I hear it has the biggest mall in Spain.”
After what seemed like ages, and Sophia was beginning to believe she would never find a dress that would satisfy the two men that sat outside the dressing room, Sophia stepped out in a custom-made Michael Cinco couture white gown that swept the entire floor around her and clung perfectly to her body. Martin stares at her with a grin the moment she steps out from the dressing room. Callum had been on the phone when she stepped out, but when he heard the gasp from Martin he turns to look at her, and he could not take his eyes off her after that. His eyes glued to her as she took slow strides towards them, with Mira holding onto the tail of her veil in demonstration of how it will be in hour time.
Slowly, he gulps, taking the phone off his ear, his eyes still fixed on her. She was not just beautiful, she was more than beautiful, and he was still searching for a word more perfect than that to use on her.
“Definitely this one. What do you say, Callum?” Martin asks turning to face Callum.
Snapping out of his lost state, Callum nods and clears his throat. “Yes, yes, this one gets the job done.” Callum says.
“Gets the job done?” Martin asks his brow raising at Callum.
He clears his throat again. “I mean, I mean it … we will go with this.” He says.
“He is speechless.” Mira says from where she listened behind Sophia. “You have him tongue tied.” She says, and Sophia stifles a laugh.
