Chapter 16
Alexis:
Seeing Aubrey this morning, made me feel terrible. She was clearly hurting and so was I. Maybe I was going about this all wrong.
Being at this party was actually making me feel a lot better. Being surrounded by my friends and people who knew me helped me cope with my thoughts about Aubrey. I had a red cup and even smoked a little bit of weed.
"So you done with her?" Jay asked, handing me another cup of beer. "Yup." I retorted, averting my eyes. "Man, please." Jay said, cracking up. "I'm serious. Out of sight, out of mind." I told him. "Well, you spoke to soon. She just walked in." Jay chuckled, pointing to the door. I quickly followed his gaze and sure enough, there she was. Standing in the doorway with Mike draped over her shoulder. I took a big gulp from my cup and made my way over to them.
"Hey, you guys made it." I greeted them. Truthfully, I only walked over to get a full glimpse of Aubrey. I couldn't help but stare at her appearance. She looked so gorgeous. From her head to her toes, I was in awe. My mouth was watering. Mike cleared his throat, causing me to snap out of Aubrey's trance. "Well, there are drinks in the fridge and snacks on the counter." I said over the music.
I still couldn't get Aubrey's image out of my head. She'd never dressed like this before and I liked it. Her curves were beautiful and I truly adored them. My eyes definitely weren't going to get off of her.
"Damn." Jay remarked, walking over to me but his head was in Aubrey's direction. "You fucked up." He smacked his lips. "I can get her back." I smirked, confidently. "I wouldn't be too sure about that, if I was you." Jay grinned. "And why do you say that?" I questioned, giving him a look. "You didn't see the ring on her finger? That ain't no costume jewelry either." Jay pointed out. Sure enough, there was something gleaming from her hand.
An hour or so later, after five or six red cups, I was definitely feeling myself and the party a little harder. Jessina arrived with a few of her homegirls. If I couldn't have Aubrey, I knew I could have Jessina.
As if on cue, Jessina spotted me across the room and strutted over. "What's up, baby?" She asked, immediately cheesing hard. "You wanna dance?" I asked her. She nodded and grabbed my hand, leading me to the middle of the living room floor. Automatically, she began grinding into me, dancing around me, and shaking her backside against me. Wow. This is living.
When the song was over, I found myself on the couch with Jessina sitting on my lap, kissing me sloppily. Jessina was sexy but she was so rough. This was kind of a turn off with me. She liked to be in control, which I was perfectly fine with but she really did the most. I ended up pushing her off of me and making an excuse to rid myself of her presence.
As I relieved myself from Jessina, I walked past Aubrey. She was sitting down as I passed her but she managed to lock her eyes onto mine. She said nothing, but she did shake her head. Sort of in disbelief. I looked down at her finger and frowned. I rolled my eyes and headed to the back of the apartment, where the party was located. I found the bathroom and slammed the door behind me.
This whole Aubrey drama was really getting to my head. I wanted so badly to just pull her onto my lap and attack her with kisses. I wanted to ask her about her day, and I wanted to be the one to put a ring on her finger. This Mike guy certainly didn't know the type of girl Aubrey was. He didn't know how and where she liked to be touched. Aubrey and I created a bond so quick that it was eating me alive inside to see her with someone else.
My only instinct was to find a way to talk to her. So, I texted her and told her to meet me in the bathroom.
Aubrey arrived exactly eight minutes later. "You wanted to talk?" She said, taking a seat on the side of the tub while I sat on the toilet lid. "Yeah. Aubrey, I'm sorry. You didn't deserve the way I acted." I finally let out. "Alexis, I feel like I don't even know you anymore. You wouldn't hear me out, you didn't talk to me, you break this off, and here you are kissing and dancing with another girl." Aubrey was broken.
"You kissed Mike twice, don't put this all on me." I exclaimed.
"No. Mike kissed me. If you would have paid attention, you would realize that. I pulled away every time. I'd never try to intentionally hurt you like you hurt me tonight." She cried out. "Oh, please. You've been talking to Mike throughout our time together. You're no angel." I barked. "I'll admit that I did but every time I spoke to him, I was trying to break it off. My mom brought him here, not me." Aubrey yelled. "Whatever. I can't believe I was falling for you. Such a waste of time." I spat.
Aubrey was taken aback. "What?" She questioned. "You heard me." I muttered, angrily.
There was a long silence.
"Fuck you, Alex." Aubrey stormed out of the bathroom.
