CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE
CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE
Amy POV
Yeah, I know what you’re thinking.
You slut.
But wait.
Hear me out.
I know I said it was just a coincidence in it happening, but I lied.
I knew exactly who he was way before he sat beside me at the bar.
I had done my homework before I quit working for Jericho.
I needed to make my transfer from Jericho’s to a new job as soon as possible.
And I had my eye on McCormick’s publishing’s for a while now.
I just needed to know which tree branch to shake to get my foot in the door.
And without the help of my interfering parents.
So, I did some homework.
And Lowe and behold I found my target.
His name was Simon.
Youngest investor of the McCormick Publishing House.
He was gorgeous.
And by the looks of his Instagram, he had no wife or girlfriend and definitely no kids that I can see around.
Which in my opinion is a win.
I could see my plan starting to form.
And it was a good one.
Ok, giving him head in the men’s bathroom was not part of that plan but hey when life gives you lemons…
Oh, you know the rest.
But it got me what I wanted didn’t it.
I got my foot in the door, and I made some guy really happy.
Even If it was for a few moments.
I call that a win.
Wouldn’t you.
Anyway….
Like I said.
I knew exactly who he was when he sat down next to me.
Nothing’s ever coincidental.
I made it my business to make sure that I was where he was.
The thing I didn’t plan for was that I might actually like him.
At the time I didn’t know it.
Even after I did what I did with him in the bathroom.
It was when I left the party and was sitting in my bedroom listening to my parents arguing for the 100th time tonight.
They weren’t as happy as they liked to perceive to everyone.
If anything, they were a disaster.
I just wished they’d both just call it quits with each other.
They’d be much better off.
And most definitely a lot happier.
But I couldn’t care about that right now.
I was too focused on the fact that I was starting to feel something for the guy I just gave head to in a bathroom.
But I wasn’t sure what the feeling was.
Or if it was just the rush of what had happened.
Believe me or not but I’d never done anything like that before.
But I must say…
Living on the edge was fun.
I sit here still listening to my parents going at it when I suddenly feel like I should get out of here.
I’m not a child so I am able to just leave whenever I want but who would want to go down there even if it was just to pass through.
So, I aim for the window.
Which I hadn’t done for a while.
It was starting to bring back some major teenage memories.
I climb out and down the trellis that was on the side of the house.
It wasn’t in bloom.
Normally it would have roses going all the way up.
It was beautiful when it was in season.
But luckily for me…
Now…
It wasn’t.
I didn’t particularly want thorns up my ass as I was shimmying down it.
When I did finally make it to the bottom I felt a rush of freedom.
It was like nothing I had felt before.
I guess my parents fighting affected me more than I thought it did.
I just didn’t want it to go on forever.
I started to walk.
I didn’t care where.
I just did.
After a while I found myself standing outside McCormick’s Publishing House.
And the lights were on.
‘Who on earth was working this late.’
I thought to myself.
Did I dare to go in.
Was that even the smart thing to do.
Right now, I wasn’t thinking straight.
I was still on my high.
The endorphins were still in mega drive.
So why not.
I went in.
And I wish I never now.
What I found…
More like who I found.
It wasn’t how or what I thought my night would end up looking like.
I guess you can’t always prepare yourself for this kind of stuff happening.
Who would have thought.
The person standing in front of me was Simon.
I couldn’t believe it.
I didn’t even know how I ended up here.
I was just walking.
But I guess fate pulled me this way.
If you believe in that kind of stuff.
Me personally…
I wasn’t a big believer of fate.
But you know…
Here I was.
Standing in front of him.
In this building.
And this was the beginning of my story.
And how I ended up working here.
And so, so much more.
I know what you might say…
That I was deluding myself that this man would want to be with someone like me.
But you’d be surprised on how many couples actually met.
I know what I did to him in the men’s bathroom wasn’t conventional.
And disgusting to most.
Definitely something I will not be telling my children.
If I had any.
But there was something about him I just couldn’t shake.
I didn’t understand it.
And when he saw me.
The look in his eyes said the same.
Was this fate stepping in for the both of us.
Was he here because he felt the same pull as I did.
I honestly didn’t expect to see him here.
I thought it might have just been a cleaning lady or something.
And to be honest I had no idea why I walked into the building.
But now I’m thinking I secretly did on some level know.
Or at least my mind and body did.
As I stare at him staring at me then turning away with a blush.
Did I dare ask the question that might make me sound crazy.
I think against it instantly.
I’ll just let this play out.
See where we end up more or less.
He opens his mouth to say something, but nothing comes out.
Which to me is weird.
But then what do you say to the woman who gave you head mere hours ago.
‘Hey how’s it going.’
So, both of us just stood there…
In silence.
Awkward.
