CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN
CHAPTER SEVENTY- SEVEN
Jericho POV
I wasn’t in the best of moods as it was.
Not after being woken up by Alex and suffering the world’s worst hangover of all time.
But that aside I couldn’t get the thought of what had happened last night between me and Cassandra out of my head.
I wanted her in a way I had never wanted anything before.
After Alex had left my office the thought of Sarah making an unexpected appearance had me on edge.
I needed to get to Cassandra before she could.
There was nothing more to think about I had to tell her the truth.
The whole truth.
And nothing but.
I left the office and headed for my car.
On the way I made the call to Cassandra in such a panic that I was scaring the shit out of myself.
She answered on the first ring.
“Hey I was just…”
“Where are you?”
I asked her franticly.
“Home.”
“Why?”
She replied.
“Stay there, I’m on my way to you now.”
“Jericho what’s going on, you’re scaring me.”
She was scared.
I was scaring myself.
“Just stay where you are, I’m on my way.”
And I hung up.
I started the engine and raced over to her place.
I arrived in no time at all.
Cassandra was waiting for me at the front door.
As she saw me pull up, she came running for the car.
“Jericho what’s going on.”
“You sounded so serious on the phone.”
I exited the car and embraced her tightly.
I broke the embrace, looked her dead in the face and said…
“There’s some things I have to tell you.”
She looked at me suspiciously.
“What things?”
I ushered her to lead me inside.
“We should talk inside.”
Again, she was looking at me very suspiciously.
“Ok.”
Was the only reply she gave whilst leading me inside.
As we entered Alexis was standing right there.
The look on her face could kill.
Arms crossed across her chest.
“What are you doing here Jericho?”
I looked to her.
“And a hello to you as well Miss Winters.”
She wasn’t impressed.
“Cut the crap Jericho Dean.”
“What the fuck are you doing here.”
I look to Cassandra.
“Is there somewhere we can talk in private.”
“No there isn’t.”
Alexis jumps in.
“Whatever you have to say you can say to both of us.”
I looked towards Cassandra.
I don’t know what I was looking for when I did.
Was it for back up.
But she just nodded.
“Alright.”
“But you two are going to want to sit for this.”
Alexis looks to me and chuckles.
“That serious huh.”
I keep a straight face.
“It’s that serious Alexis.”
And I lead the way through to the kitchen.
Cassandra and Alexis both follow.
I really didn’t plan on telling them at the same time.
Call me a coward but I was planning on just telling Cassie and then hoping that she would relay the message onto Alexis.
This ways better though I guess.
As they say two birds one stone.
As we all sit at the table.
I start with where Alex left off.
“So, you know the first half of the story.”
“And I know that Alex promised to fill in the gaps at a later time.”
Cassandra nodded.
Alexis rolled her eyes.
“Well, the second half isn’t as much fun as the first half was.”
“I wouldn’t call the first half fun Jericho.”
Alexis didn’t seem pleased with my choice of words.
I chuckle.
“Ok, fun was a poor choice of words.”
“I should have said amusing.”
That wasn’t pleasing to her either, but I didn’t care.
I wasn’t doing this for her anyway.
My priority was Cassandra and her alone.
“Anyway, what he didn’t get to tell you was that after Alex and Sarah finally got together, they were inseparable.”
“And I mean inseparable.”
“Really.”
Cassandra sounded shocked.
I guess, she didn’t think that after finding out that I was knocking around with her that they would ever get back together.
“Hmm, I’m surprised.”
Again, Alexis wasn’t having any of it.
“Why you so surprised.”
“He’s rather charming when he wants to be.”
She chuckles.
“It’s not him I’m surprised by.”
“It’s her.”
“Why would you ever want to be with a rapist.”
“Proper mind boggling.”
I don’t entertain her.
I clear my throat and carry on.
“Well, they were and after our whole ideal I learned to accept it also.”
“We were all friends.”
“My relationship with Alex wasn’t so strained and I didn’t seem too bothered about them two being together.”
“We actually hung out a few times.”
Alexis abruptly gets up.
“What’s the problem.”
I ask.
“Blah, blah, blah.”
“Just get to good bit Jericho, you’re boring me.”
I hated her attitude.
It was starting to really piss me off.
“If you don’t want to hear what I have to say then you can leave Alexis.”
Now she went into full blown hysterical laughter.
“Your hilarious, leave my own home.”
“Just get on with it will you.”
“You’re just prolonging the enevitable.”
I jump up.
“For the love of God, you are annoying.”
“She’s back.”
Alexis shuts her mouth.
Which is probably the first and only time that that has been accomplished.
No words were spoken.
The air around us thick with the realisation that this was a serious situation.
Then I hear Cassandra’s heavenly voice.
“Who?”
The question was so quiet that I barely heard her.
“Sarah.”
She was confused.
“Sarah’s back.”
“As in Alex’s Sarah.”
I nod.
“Why is that such a problem.”
Good question Alexis.
Probably the only smart thing she has said her whole life.
I look at her with a smirk.
“Well, if you let me continue with my story, you’ll have some understanding as to why this is a major problem.”
She deflates in defeat.
“Fine.”
And she sits back down on her chair.
Now where was I?
“I’ll skip over all the boring stuff as you quite fittingly put it, Alexis.”
“And get straight to the good bit.”
Cassandra moved herself forward.
Waiting in anticipation for me to carry on with my story.
I was happy to have her undivided attention.
Even if it was for the wrong reasons.
