Chapter 11 Chapter eleven
Allen rushed in. On seeing Wendy on the floor, she didn't even ask for an explanation and slapped Noah twice across his face. She quickly helped Wendy from the floor and sat her down gently on the bed comforting her.
She ordered him back to his room and moved his things away from Wendy's room. Seeing all this, Wendy was deeply satisfied because this was the exact effect she wanted. When Allen left, she put on a black overall and snuck out of the house.
Meanwhile, Noah was lying on his bed looking at a picture of Emma in his hand, tears falling quickly from his eyes. His hatred for her began to develop. How can she leave her family for a whole one year and some months without even a single call? She even forgot about his birthday. Still deep in thought, he slowly fell asleep.
Wendy quickly walked down the dark quiet street her eyes scanning the environment for anything suspicious. Finally, she got to a cafe and walked inside. It wasn't a cafe. It was a secret office disguised as a cafe..
“Good girl…..” a voice commended as soon as she entered but her face just remained stoic and cold. “The DNA test will be carried out at St Peter hospital tomorrow. And that bitch Emma is not around” she said solemnly.
“Well…she isn't my problem. Just a spoilt young rat. Don't forget your side of the deal.” The voice said. “I can't be coming here always” she fired back with disgust rising in her voice.
“Wow, really? Because I've helped you step into luxury now you want to Stab me at the back..!?” The man shouted angrily rising up and bringing his face very close to hers.
But Wendy didn't flitch “I'll do my part but don't interrupt. Just make sure the test results are positive tomorrow” she concluded and walked out before the man could speak again.
Sneaking back inside, she took off the clothes and began to admire the elegance of the room her heart overflowing with happiness and greed. As she ransacked through the room, she came across a beautiful jersey with Emma's name boldly written on the back. Obviously, this room has been Emma's.
Angry, she squeezed the jersey and threw it into the trash. “Don't worry by the time I'm done dealing with them, all their riches will be mine.” she thought angrily and jumped on the bed falling asleep.
The next morning, she was extra nice to Noah and slowly, he began to warm up to her. He even insisted on following them to the hospital for the test. Mr and Mrs Walker were very happy to see this and cursed Emma in their mind calling her ungrateful and taking their care for her for the past sixteen years for granted.
As expected, the results was positive. Wendy was their daughter! Mr Walker happily hugged her and slowly began to let this guard down around her. Allen ordered the chefs to prepare a banquet to celebrate their lost daughter return.
They drank and ate happily into the night. That night, Wendy felt how the rich and powerful really dined and she swore to one day be like that. As they ate, she stood up and went to the kitchen to fetch more drinks. As she headed back, she looked around carefully. Seeing the servants were busy going about with their duties, she brought out a pill from her hip pocket and dropped it into one of the drinks.
It dissolved immediately, leaving no trace. Smiling cheerfully, she served everyone the drinks but making sure Benjamin took the spiked drink. “But mother, since i came I haven't seen Emma anywhere. Hope all is well?” She asked with fake concern written all over her face.
As soon as the whole family heard this, their expressions changed from cheerful to angry. Seeing this, Wendy's heart swelled with joy. “Wendy daughter, don't ruin the joy of the family by bringing up that ungrateful bitch that ran away with a man simply because he's rich” Allen replied rolling her eyes in disgust.
She faked surprise, “really? Seems like she's really only a gold digger. She was able to live in riches for years only to run away leaving the kind family to follow a man. That can't be me. Did you know the man she ran away with mother?” She asked again.
“Mr vandxander of the shayan group. I know our Wendy will never do such” Allen replied proudly smiling at her. But on hearing this, Wendy's heart almost exploded in anger. She realized Emma just moved from better to best. The mysterious owner of the shayan group? The rich, powerful, demigod? It's better to elope with him than to stay with this foolish family that doesn't know what is coming for them.
With jealousy threatening to overwhelm her, she excused herself to the bathroom. On entering, she smashed everything in sight. “Bitch….! Bitch…!! Bitch…..!!! She thinks she can get away from me? She thinks Mr vandxander will keep her forever? No way! Sooner or later she'll be kicked out and till then and after, I'll be here waiting for her” with these words, her anger soon subsided and she returned back to the table, smiling.
Lying on her big, princess sized bed that night, she listened to all the footsteps around the house and patiently waiting for everyone to go to bed. Finally, after waiting for sometime and didn't hear any sounds, she crept to the door and pressed her ears to it. Nothing. That means everyone was asleep.
She gently opened the door and tiptoed outside. She need to find something she can use to slowly wreak the family from within. Peeping into Noah's bed room, he was fast asleep. So were the walkers. She gently pushed open the study door and switched on the light.
She started ransacking through the documents quickly. But almost all she found was company's reports and several data records she didn't understand. Finally, she saw a brown document envelope with the words “hospital report”. Happiness surged through her. She quickly began to flip through it. In one of the pages, she learnt Mr Benjamin has a minor heart disease and was on pills.
She quickly replaced it and arranged them exactly the same way she met them. But as she turned back to put of the light, the door of the study slowly opened.
