Then a heavy, turbulent wind blew, and everything returned to normal. The screams and cries of people still pierced through the thick cloud of dust from the rubble of the collapsed building.

But i was already bound hands and feet with Rexy's divine chain.

Rexy and liriah stood before me with a triumphant smirk on their stupid faces. “i told you Emma to give it up. You're still as miserable as ever.!" He mocked me.

But my sarcastic smirk didn't leave the corners of my mouth as i glared hard at them. “Simply because you've acquired a bit of laughable powers, you're feeling more smug” i sneered.

Liriah floated down and cupped my chin, turning my face to hers. “You know what i loathe the most.? Disrespectful kids and you know what I do to them.? Put them where they belong"

“Reverse is going to be the case from today onwards." I spat.

She crackled and let go of my chin. “Do you know how many years i spent cultivating just this single technique of freezing time.? How much it costs me just freezing time for just one second.?"

" I went into exile for twelve human years and twelve demon days to learn it” she narrated, floating back to Rexy's side.

" I didn't send you into exile, did i.?” I mockingly asked expressionlessly.

“You idiot.! We're wasting too much time talking to her Rexy. We need to complete the rituals now before something goes wrong again." She said in-between clenched teeth.

" Reno will come to save me” i yelled at them, still struggling against the chains as Rexy manipulated it.

They burst into laughter till they doubled over. “You mean this Reno.?” Rexy asked still laughing as he raised a cage where Reno was tied up like an animal.

“We decided to bring him along so you don't feel lonely. How thoughtful of us.!” Liriah added.

" You can't do this.! He's your niece.!” I screamed, becoming a little afraid now.

" Well of course I can. So just shut it and let's ger things done” she shot back with a note of finality.

We floated across the darkening sky for sometime before getting to another lavishly built palace in the kingdom of exiled demons, exactly the one i was once tied up to that altar. So i began to plot, when I'm released from the divine chain to be strapped to the altar, that'll be my chance.

They quickly set up the altar and lighted several candles around it before activating an ancient mechanism.

I thought they were going to release me from the divine chain but they didn't and just placed me on the altar still bound.

Frantic with no other way out, I decided to summon the spirit of light even though i knew it'll have a severe repercussion on me.

As i gently hummed the tune, i was elevated off the alter and the chains binding me shattered with a loud blast that sent out a surge of energy.

Cries and screams filled the air again as people scampered In different directions for safety. But the palace remained unscathed.

My heart sank slightly because my plan was to use the distraction created by the collapse of the palace to escape.

Rexy and liriah stood some distance away with shock written on their faces. I majestically walked towards them surrounded by dazzling golden lights.

“Let's just end this." I muttered under my breath and charged straight at liriah before she could process what was going on. My sword slashed across her abdomen but nothing happened to her. No reaction of pain, blood splattering or dropping dead.

Seeing my surprise, she laughed scornfully and took off her cloak. “You seriously think I'll come to battle unprepared.?"

The part of her body where the sword made contact with had turned into a scale. It rapidly began to spread across her entire body till she mutated into a giant snake.

She let out a terrifying roar like a dragon, spewing fire towards me. Luckily, i reacted quickly and created a protective halo to block the attack.

But i was still knocked to the floor by the immense impact. She lunged and me and used her tail to repeatedly slam against the halo around me.

Rexy wasn't idle either. With a roar, he mutated into a giant snake with two heads. My eyes widened in terror as i scrambled back.

With no other option, i tried my best to dodge their attacks. Thanks to my reflexes, it didn't take alot of efforts.

But this only annoyed them further and they became more brutal, trashing everything in sight with their tails.

The huge palace was in a chaotic mess. As i distracted them, i discreetly sent a spike of energy towards the cage where Reno was kept and it shattered to pieces.

With a roar, he too mutated into a long, red snake with flaming body. This caught the attention of the both of them and they decided to take him out first.

Liriah trashed her tail at him but he slithered away on air and burst through the palace roof. They gave chase and shifted the battle to the rooftop.

Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed across the sky as if locked in a cruel race.

They slithered through the air as they locked in a fierce fight. But liriah and Rexy were gaining the upper hand and i knew i can't stay idle.

So I rushed back into the palace, looking for clues on any of their weaknesses.

I rummaged through their library and didn't find anything useful. Then my eyes caught a safe in a hidden compartment of the wall which half of it has been destroyed.

A blow from my sword divided it into two halves. Thankfully, none of the books inside were destroyed.

They were all covered in strange, ancient symbols that i couldn't comprehend. “Finly help me" i begged desperately, flipping through the books.

“This one.!" She suddenly shouted as my hand touched a red book with a mystical symbol imprinted on the cover.

But opening it revealed nothing but more confusing signs. “What does it say.?" I asked again.

“Wait.! I'm trying to decode it. This looks like a curse of leviathan" she said and I froze.

" Isn't leviathan the keeper of hell treshold.?" I questioned in shock as memories of my childhood suddenly flooded into my mind.

“Good thing you know. There's a traitor in hell"
