In Love with the CEO
Chapter 22
Author:
ALEX
He violently presses his lips against mine. I bite him, but it doesn’t stop him. He pushes his kisses even further. I shove him, but he doesn’t budge an inch. He lifts my dress up to my waist and starts caressing my thighs up to my buttocks.
Me, trying to speak: “Let me go.”
Pushing him away only intensifies the violence of his actions. He grabs me and throws me onto the bed. Moments later, my dress joins the floor.
Alexander: “You’re going to drive me crazy.”
He kisses my neck, moving down to my chest, not stopping his caresses.
Me: “Alexander, let me go. Stop what you’re doing. I don’t consent. If you continue, it’ll be rape.”
My words make him stop abruptly. He gets up from the bed. I curl up on myself, watching him stand in front of me, running a hand through his hair.
Me: “Are you proud of yourself? What were you trying to show me? That you’re more savage than an animal? Do you think I’m an object you can use and discard at will?”
I grab my dress and put it on, pick up my shoes from the floor, and head for the door, but he rushes to stop me.
Alexander, grabbing my arms: “Wait, please.”
Me: “It’s late. I need to go home. Let me go, please.”
Alexander: “I’m really sorry. Seeing you with that man drove me insane. I couldn’t control myself.”
Me: “I don’t want to hear it. Let me go.”
Alexander: “Stay, please. I can’t let you go home at this hour. Stay, and tomorrow morning I’ll take you back.”
Me, pulling away from his grip: “Let go, you’re hurting me. I don’t want to spend the night next to you—you scare me.”
I don’t know why, but I suddenly burst into sobs, crying hot tears. I don’t know why I’m breaking down like this, but he comes and takes me in his arms until I calm down.
Me, sniffling: “Let me go. I’m not leaving, but I don’t want you near me.”
Alexander: “Understood, but please don’t cry anymore. I can sleep in the armchair.”
I give in and follow him to the bed. I sit down, and he goes to settle in the armchair. He stays there, watching me from a distance. I lie down, and I don’t know when sleep finally overtakes me…
When I wake up, I’m covered, and he’s still sitting in the armchair, still staring at me.
Me: “You didn’t sleep?”
Alexander: “No, I couldn’t close my eyes all night.”
Me: “Why? Aren’t you tired?”
Alexander: “I acted like a jerk last night. I really want to apologize. I know nothing excuses my behavior, but I don’t know how I felt when I saw you in that restaurant, holding hands with that guy. You looked like lovers.”
I burst out laughing despite myself. You don’t want me, but you’re the one bothered by seeing me with someone else. This man really doesn’t know what he wants in life.
Alexander: “What’s so funny about what I just said?”
Me: “Nothing at all. Just that you’re so wrong. And even if he and I wanted to be together, you couldn’t do anything to stop us.”
Alexander: “Stop provoking me. What don’t you understand about the fact that you’re my wife and no man has the right to lay eyes or his filthy paws on you?”
Me, laughing: “You’re so mistaken. The day I decided to leave you, I became a free woman, so I can go out with whoever I want.”
Alexander: “You’re forgetting we’re still legally married?”
Me: “That’s just a piece of paper.”
Alexander: “A piece of paper that binds you to me, so I demand that you respect me. I’d never let myself be charmed by another woman.”
Me: “That’s normal, since your late wife leaves no room for any other woman in your life.”
Alexander: “…”
Me: “I have to go. I need to leave before people wake up. I don’t want to have to explain my presence.”
Alexander: “This is your home. You don’t owe anyone explanations.”
Me, laughing: “You’re really funny. This isn’t my home anymore—it never was. And I don’t want to confuse Julia. She might think we’re back together, which we’re not.”
Alexander: “What’s stopping you from coming back home to your husband?”
Me, standing up: “A lot of things. Are you getting up, or do I call a taxi?”
He gets up and follows me, but I’m not so lucky—I run into Thea, who’s coming out of the kitchen at the bottom of the stairs.
Me: “Good morning, my darling.”
Thea, acting surprised: “Are you talking to me?”
Me, a bit taken aback: “Did I do something wrong?”
Thea: “No, it’s me. I was foolish to think you and I were friends. You left this house without telling me, and worst of all, despite all my attempts to reach out, you completely ignored me.”
Me: “I’m so sorry. I didn’t plan to leave, and I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I wanted to stay in my corner to heal on my own.”
Thea: “I was your friend before you started dating my brother. Whatever problems you face in your relationship shouldn’t affect our bond. Isn’t that what friendship is?”
Me, genuinely sorry: “You’re right. I didn’t separate things properly. I’m really sorry. I’ll call you so we can talk calmly. Right now, I have to go before the others wake up.”
Thea, in a mocking tone: “So you’re pretending to be separated but still spending your nights together?”
Alexander, in a harsh tone: “THEA…”
Thea: “Oh, come on, is it not true?”
Me, laughing: “Of course it’s not true. I’ll explain everything later.”
Alexander drops me off at home, and before letting me get out, he kisses me as if nothing had ever happened between us. He acted like we were a normal couple, like we’d never been apart, like he’d never treated me like garbage. What’s with this bipolar behavior? Does he think I’ll just brush everything off because he decided so? That I’ll forget everything that happened without even knowing what he truly thinks or feels about our future? No way. Of course, I like how he acted. Of course, I’m happy to see my husband jealous when he saw me with another man—it shows he cares about me despite everything. Of course, I dream of going back to my husband, but not like this. I need proof that he wants to change and is ready to invest in this relationship.
ALEXANDER
I’m the first one surprised by my reactions. I’ve never denied that this little one attracts me, but to get so jealous seeing her with another man and to be so violent—that’s absurd. It’s not like me. I don’t know what pushed me to kiss her just now when I dropped her off. I think it’s the lack of sleep messing with me.
When I get out of the shower, she’s there, sitting on the bed, asking me to sit next to her. I do so without objection.
Me, surprised: “What are you doing here?”
