Serena Mclane's P. O. V "I'm bored." I groan out loud as I enter into Damien's home office. Barging in without really knocking. Damien's head snaps up from his illuminated laptop screen and over to me. Waltzing into his office, I lounge on the small recliner and adjust my baggy t shirt that falls off my shoulder. My eyes appraise the sight before me of him no longer in his suit but in a fitted shirt and what I'm assuming will be a pair of loose sweatpants or shorts. I'm almost tempted to look under the table. "And this is my problem why?" He asks in a monotone voice.vI roll my eyes at his lack of an answer and shrug. "You're the host, entertain me." At my words Damien raises an eyebrow, "You are hardly a guest here. You are also considered the host as my fiancée." I plaster on a fake smile as I try to look alert and not sleep deprived. "We're all just one big happy family aren't we?" I mutter dryly. My statement goes unanswered and I'm left to pick at my red nail polish as I glance at Damien from time to time. "Hey," I call out to get his attention, when he lifts his head up, I continue, "What were you doing at that little make shift gym thing you have a week back? You know when I woke up in the middle of the night and saw you." I clarify as he tilts his head at me. However I have a feeling he understands but just doesn't really want to answer. After a few seconds go by, he sighs. "I was there to let out some pent up tension is all. Sometimes when I cant sleep it helps me then as well." He mutters. At that last part, my ears perk up and I immediately sit up. "Helps you sleep?" I ask. Damien arches an eyebrow before shaking his head. "I didn't say that." "But you implied it." I add in wisely, now getting up. Striding over to Damien, I pull my hand out while he looks at it as if it's some foreign object. I roll my eyes at his behaviour. "I don't have an STD that you're going to magically catch you know." I growl out. Damien sighs and closes the lid on his laptop before he stands up, ignoring my outstretched hand, "I am more concerned as to what your intention is rather than to what I may or may not catch." I ignore his daft words and still grab onto his hand, ignoring how he tenses up at my touch and lead him out of the room and a few steps to the right. "Open it." I say, pointing with my chin towards the locked door as I cross my arms over my chest. Damien turns his head to look at me as he sighs. "I don't carry the keys around with me." He says before stalking off into the office. I almost shout to him to not leave me here so that he gets back to his work but instead Damien comes back a minute later brandishing a pair of keys. He glances at me with one last final look before unlocking the door to the gym and flipping the light on. Bright light immediately floods the room and I try my best not to wince. Now fully awake at the prospect of doing something exciting. Bounding into the room, I smile at the familiar equipment before going over to one in particular. "This one." I claim in affirmation. Damien raises an eyebrow at me, clear disbelief on his face. As he walks over to me, his eyes continuously dart from me to the machine. I glance back at the black metallic sturdy object. Hopefully it's sturdy, I think with a shudder. Damien comes up closer to me and places his hand on my waist, turning me in another direction till I'm facing a treadmill. "That will be more suited for you." He bends down to speak into my ear, "No," I say with conviction, swiveling around to gaze at my objective once more. "The bench press. Are you sure?" Damien presses. The distaste on his face is as clear as day. "What? Don't you like a girl with some muscle?" I ask as I raise one arm in the air and flex it only to see pudgy cellulite. My nose scrunches up in disdain but I lower my arm at Damien's amused look. "To each her own. But how about some dumb bells to start off with ?" He asks, slightly hopeful. I shake my head. "Nope. I want to lift weights." Damien shakes his head and further tries to convince me of how dangerous equipment like this is. If it's so damn dangerous, than why does he use it? Finally giving up at various attempts to dissuade me, he makes me lie down on the bench. I do so and shift up and down a bit so as to get comfortable before I get fully in line with the weights. Just the daunting thought of those heavy weights falling on me make me feel slightly nauseous and I can almost feel my chest tightening at the thought. Damien looks above me as he tampers around with the weights, taking them on and then off. Sighing he steps back while I eye him in suspicion. Knowing Damien, he probably put something that even a two year old could lift. Slight exaggeration but still. Using all my strength, I push against the metal handle and easily lift it up but before I can even get halfway Damien quickly grasps it with a scowl on his face. "You will hurt yourself if you hold onto it like that." Damien motions me to shift further and I do so. He leans over me, the heavy weight lifting rod in between us. "You need to properly align yourself or you'll pull a muscle." He says sternly. I let out a huff and childishly taunt him. "If you're so good at it, why don't you show me?" If I'm being honest with myself, I really do hope he shows me how. And not so that I learn. Damien narrows blue eyes at me before nodding. "Fine, get up." With a slight spring in my step, I leap up and step to the side for him to lie down. Without looking at me, Damien reaches for the hem of his shirt. My mouth runs dry as I watch him tug at his shirt before completely taking it off, eyes taking in his form eagerly, scanning up and down. Realizing what I'm doing, I scold myself for acting so...vixen like. Damien puts his shirt down on the black couch which pushed up against the wall and then readjusts the weights, my eyes widening as he adds on two massive circular ones into the slot. "You have to lie down like this." Damien says snapping me out of my thoughts as he adjusts himself. "Then you align yourself. Make sure your elbows are positioned properly." I nod my head, staring at the way his biceps clench as he grips the pole, his veins across his arms sticking out with the force. I barely notice I've tilted my head, much like Damien does. But it's for a completely different reason. He probably thinks I'm concentrating and actually listening. Damien's lips move but I'm barely listening as he pushes up, his face barely contorting with strain. He repeats the action a few more times before putting the weight back in its place. "Got it?" He asks. I nod my head in confirmation, an adamant look on my face. "It looks easy enough." At this Damien rolls his eyes. "This is a serious matter, you can get hurt." I wave him off and lie down on the bench. I position myself just like Damien showed me and then watch him nod in approval. He still hasn't put his shirt back on and stands there with his arms crossed against his chest. Muscles all nice and tight and compact. Focus damn it. "Okay." I mumble but he stops me as he comes to some sort of realization. He motions for me to wait and undoes the weights. I let out a mental groan. There is a lot of back and forth going on. Finally ready, he motions for me to take a go. My hands sweat as he watches me. Ah damn it. I feel uncomfortable when people stare at me while I do something. I try to ignore his hypnotic eyes. Grasping onto the cool bar firmly, I press up with all my might and luckily enough I manage to lift it up, barely straining myself. And here I thought I had no upper body strength. "More please." I motion to Damien, feeling proud of myself. Begrudgingly, he nods and fiddles around with it. Apparently my cockiness gets too much for me and I don't even grasp onto the bar properly. I lift it up, excreting my force but as it comes down towards my chest at a fast speed, I freak out. "Fuck." I close my eyes, my grip on the bar loosening. I wait for the impact, eyes closed, ears strained until I hear a loud metallic clang. Peeking my eyes open slowly only to see a worried looking Damien peering over me. His face adjacent to mine, but upside down. I gulp. Both at the near death experience and our close proximity.Damien's heaving chest matches my own. My eyes flit to the side to see where the weights went but I can't see. Damien perfect face obscuring my vision. "Oops." I mumble breathlessly as his face hardens. "What the hell was that Serena?" He scolds angrily, eyes ablaze. His breath fanning against my face as he leans in closer. I try to push my head back but only manage to tilt my head a bit further, a double chin forming. "You could have gotten hurt." He says angrily. I don't say anything as I continuously to look into his eyes. Damien's heaving chest slows down while mine starts to raise further. The both of us stay silent, our close proximity unnerving. How do I get myself into these situations?
