Chapter 133 Happy Family
Chapter 133 Happy Family
Epilogue
Daxton
“Verena and I got married last weekend. She looked so breathtaking in that dress that I cried the moment I saw her. Even now, it feels surreal, like she stepped straight out of a movie. You should have seen her—she looked like a goddess. I still can’t believe how lucky I am to call someone like her my wife,”
Excitement bloomed in my chest as I smiled at the memory before tossing the apple into my mouth. “Something funny also happened on that day—” I chewed slowly, reliving that moment. “When the priest asked if anyone had objected, someone raised their hand and for a second, I almost thought my psycho nephew had broken out of the facility he was kept in,”
“It turned out it was an acquaintance who raised his hand to excuse himself. Such odd timing. If he were beside me, I would have strangled him but overall, it was the best time of my life, Neil,”
The sound of beeping machines filled the room, an oxygen tube resting over his nose as his breath came out slow and ragged. “Why…are…you…tell…telling…me…this?”
I cast a glance at him, a slow smile creeping onto my face. “So you have a good story to tell my father-in-law and your old friend if there truly is a place we go to after we die. Let him know his daughter is in good hands,”
His laughter was weak. “He… would… never… approve… you… getting… married… to… his… daughter. I’m… sure… he… must… be… rolling… in… his… grave… right now.”
“How can you be confident in something you’re not even sure of? Worry about yourself instead, Neil. About all the reasons you are going to give him for treating my wife that way,”
A faint smile crossed his face as those hollow eyes locked on mine. “You… ruined my life,” he breathed. “Destroyed my marriage… Where is Kian?”
I leaned forward, blowing off the speck on his face. “Kian? He is fine. I had plans of killing him first but I remembered your request—to lead and guide Kian. And how would I do that if he is dead? So I decided to give him something worse than death. The good news is I sent him to a place where he would never be able to bother my wife and me anymore,”
My wife. I loved the sound of that.
“You…are…one sick…twisted man.You are evil,”
I agreed and that was why I lived to my full potential. During Verena and my wedding, I had done a live broadcast meant only for Kian’s eyes.
“Tell me. How long have…you…been planning this,”
“Since you watched my mum die. That was when I vowed to take revenge on you and look—Jana is heartbroken and miserable because she can’t find Kian. The empire Dad built is gone. Mikael hates you and wants nothing to do with you…you have nothing, Neil,” I leaned back in the chair, that twisted smile curling my lips. “I won, brother,”
“Go fuck yourself. You think I don’t know you were the one who planted someone around and tasked them to slowly poison me?”
Was I taken aback? No. I didn’t care if he knew or not. It didn’t matter plus it was already late.
I chuckled, rising to my feet. “I certainly enjoyed our conversation and it hurts me deeply that this would be the last time,” my voice was coated with sarcasm.
Even though his vision was now blurred, I removed my phone, showing him Verena’s text. “My wife told me to be back home in the next hour so let’s not waste each other’s time and get this over with,”
The monitor started beeping fast as I rounded the bed, his eyes going wild with panic as I stepped closer.
“Say hi to dad in hell for me,” I yanked the oxygen tube from his nose.
Neil passed.
I arrived home and I had barely set foot inside when Verena’s scream rang through the space. Panic flared within me as I rushed upstairs, pushing the bathroom door open as my gaze fell on Verena.
“Are you okay baby? I heard you scream,”
Verena turned to me eyes wide in shock, wearing my oversized sweater as tears slowly filled her eyes. Fear clawed at my throat, confusion setting in slowly. “Talk to me, baby,”
“Daxton—” she choked out, tears spilling down her cheeks as she sniffled hard.
My heart was beating fast, drumming in my ears. “What is wrong, Verena. Please talk to me,”
She held out her hand as I took the white stick from her, staring at the two red lines on it before darting my eyes back to my wife. “What is this?”
“You are going to be a father,”
I stared at her for a long minute, the fog of confusion disappearing as her words slowly settled in. “What?”
More tears filled her eyes as she smiled. “I am pregnant Daxton…I’m going to be a mother,”
I gasped. “You are pregnant?”
She nodded and before I knew it, I had pulled her into a tight hug. “Oh My God…Oh My God,” Emotions crashed through me as I spun her around, making her laugh.
I laid her on the bed, tugging the sweater up. My eyes froze on her flat stomach and for a long minute, I couldn’t breathe. A part of me. A part of her. A part of us was growing inside of her. I was in disbelief.
Moisture gathered in my eyes, because I understood just how much this meant to Verena. Leaning over her, I let my lips trail softly across her stomach before pressing a gentle kiss to hers. “There’s a baby inside me… it feels almost unreal,” she whispered.
She pressed her cheeks into my palm as I stared into those tear-glossed eyes. “You did it, Verena,”
She ran her fingers along my chest. “We did it. I love you so much, husband,”
“I love you too, wifey,”
We had twins. A boy and a girl. Each name was a piece of ours. We called them Dana and Daven.
From the moment I first saw Verena, I knew she would wreck a storm in my life and own it.
I knew she would be my wife even when she belonged to my nephew.
And right now, I have what I wanted and more than I could have dared to dream. Our twins. A happy family and most importantly my wife.
My beautiful, lovely wife.
My Verena.
The End.
