Chapter 39
Persephone’s POV
I didn’t even know that it could feel like this. That his lips would touch mine and my entire body could ignite. In a moment I could feel all the passion and all the fire that he had been hiding for so long. He had been waiting for me. I could feel the yearning of his desire in all that he poured. I could sense the brightness that was his soul and there was only one thing he craved all this time.
To be mine.
To be with his mate.
To love and worship her.
I could feel the tear slide down my eyes as his lips slowly parted from mine and he came close and licked the tear from my cheek and said,” Your tears taste sweet.”
I rolled my eyes at him and he smiled and said,” I will let you know about our trust building exercise soon. Your next class is with that fool, the sorcerer…make sure that you learn all you can from him. He might be a pompous asshole but he does know a lot about arcane magic.”
I nodded.
“Come I will walk with you to your class,” he said as we started moving and suddenly there he was. Standing behind us as I shrieked again in shock and jumped. I really wish I had brought my knives when I was coming to class but Alizeh was crying seeing my weapons so I didn’t mean to scare her any further.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, you fucking pervert?” I shouted at the sorcerer and he just laughed in mirth.
“I just came to see what is keeping you for so long after your first class but then I found far interesting things to look at,” he said with a grin and the next moment a slap rang out and I found that I had slapped the smirk right out of his face and before he could react I punched him in his throat and then kicked him in the nuts with full force as Zmiyrenan snorted behind me in mirth.
The sorcerer was coughing in pain and his eyes bulged out and he was clutching his jewels as he was on the floor.
“The next time I see you, I find you spying on me with this invisibility shit that you do I will make sure that you are going to lose more than just your dignity.”
I kicked him once again as he groaned and walked out of the class. I could hear Zmiyrenan still laughing as he muttered something in another language and then a grunt.
“You really can’t be angry with me for trying to know and understand more about you when the demoness you hang out with is giving me homework I can’t even understand,” I could hear the sorcerer whining and I wished that he would crawl up and die somewhere and let me be in peace. But we seldom got what we wished for in life so I had to deal with his incessant whining.
“I wish that I would not need to study or learn something from you,” I said as I entered the gym and kicked open the door with a thud,” but here we are.”
“Awww my candy blossom, you really shouldn’t be so hard on me and on yourself. You have no idea all that I can teach you,” he said and the next moment I was standing in the middle of the desert with only sand and sand and nothing else in sight.
I took a deep breath. I hoped that it would calm my ire enough so that I did not strangle the bastard to death.
“I have transported us to a place where you can practise your magic without being disturbed,” Bernard said as he came into view.
“A heads up would have been nice,” I muttered and he laughed again.
“Magic is an integral part of your being, just like it is mine. The only difference between the both of us is I know how to control what is inside me and you don’t. And you must know what those cuffs are for?” he prompted and I nodded.
“Good. But that is only going to push yours powers down. And you have to now decide whether you went through the Awakening ceremony just for the sake of just dampening your power because everyone else is scared that you might go nuclear or you actually wish to control the power that you have awakening in you. Your choice!”
“Bastard!” I muttered and he smiled again.
“Cursing me isn’t going to help you in any way but again that is your choice.”
“What do I need to do?” I asked him as I stood there in the middle of the desert with the wind and the sand blowing in my face. Bernard walked close to me and said,” You need to close your eyes and first tell me what is the form in which you can envision wielding your magic.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Every single person who is here to learn in the Academy has a proclivity for magic. High or low. We usually consider shifters’ magic as the form when they shift and that is where their capabilities lie, with dragons and witches and sorcerors the way we wield magic is absolutely different. However in your case, you are the one who has to tell me what feels most comfortable to you because you have every single bit of magic in you of every element.”
I nodded. I closed my eyes and tried but nothing happened and I opened my eyes again.
“I don’t think I can do that with the cuffs dampening…I can’t even see anything, it is all so blurred.”
“When you were in Hell and you were fighting demons what was different to now?” he asked.
“Umm the environment?” I asked and even I knew that it was a dumb response. Bernard sighed. And it clicked,” I didn’t have any cuffs. But the healer said that I am going to die if my body is not ready for the magical excess that is being produced.”
“True, but that is what is most challenging in your case, isn’t it, Persephone?” he prompted and the cuffs clicked open and fell on the sand without any sound and then it floated away to his hand.
“Try now.”
What he said made sense but I still could not see it when suddenly I could feel that there was someone at my back and the next moment I could feel the hilt of Nightshade in my hand. I turned in full force and found that there were atleast seven or eight huge scorpion like creatures standing there static as if someone was holding them.
“Beautiful sword!” commented Bernard as he moved beside me and said,” You brought that out from air, do you know that?”
I nodded not taking my eyes from the creatures who had pinschers in the front and there was a strange clicking noise that was coming from them. It put the hairs on my skin standing and a cold shudder went through my spine. They had six legs with huge eyes like spiders, it was like they were a mutation of spider and scorpions and their huge black bodies with hair on them bristling looked absolutely disgusting.
“They are lichens,” he said in a whisper and then he said,” And they have venom in their tail tips. They are a mutated version of manticores. And all you need to do is to fight them.”
“All of them?” I asked as my horror grew. I knew for certain now that he was trying to take his revenge on me for kicking him and then threatening him. Now I am thinking that probably I should not have done that.
“All of them,” he confirmed and then said,” I couldn’t watch you kill demons but I am guessing that it won’t be hard since you already have wielded the sword of calamity.”
“Those were demons and these are animals,” I shrieked.
“And that is why this is just practise,” he said and then he whispered an incantation and those huge bastards started moving towards me soundlessly on the sand and all I could wish was, if I got out of tis alive then I would kill Bernard without second thought.
