Untie her.” Lac commanded.
Nyx obeyed, dropping the rope to the floor while the sniper stretched her hands.
“What’s your name?” Lac questioned, his tone low and menacing.
“I'm glad you asked. I'm Nyx.” She retorted sweetly, crossing her legs.
Nyx rolled her eyes, visibly upset. “Liar!”
The sniper smirked. “That's actually my name, I know you're answering the same name so I'll let you off the hook,” she said as they listened calmly. “You can call me Rowan. I don't want to annoy my pretty bird here.”
Nyx stepped closer to her and then aimed the gun at her chest. “Mind your speech. The boss taught us well so I won't mind using a little of my skills on you.”
Rowan's expression remained the same, her eyes glinting with amusement and admiration as she locked gaze with Nyx. “I am pleased to be working with you.”
“You are not working with us. You're our hostage.” Nico affirmed.
Rowan nodded, her eyes still on Nyx. “Noted.”
“I have a plan and we are going to set it into motion today.” Lac declared firmly, making them turn their gazes to him.

Elora settled into the bathroom tub, scrubbing her body gently. The shooting incident of yesterday made its way back to her mind and she heaved a sigh.
It was really dangerous to be with Lac. First, Jaxon kidnapped her, then they were attacked by an unknown sniper. She wondered if the shooting had something to do with her being Lac’s mistress. She furrowed her eyes, pausing the scrubbing as she recollected Lac’s words— ‘Just as I predicted.’
If Lac had predicted that there was going to be a shooting, then he knew everything about the incident and the people behind it. She continued scrubbing her body, aware that the mafia world was not as simple as she thought.
She had checked the news earlier and the unexpected incident that occurred yesterday made headlines. All of the media platforms covered it and she and Lac were made the ‘hottest gist’.
This made Elora concerned and overwhelmed. She had never gotten such publicity and it made her confused and anxious. Her mother even called yesterday night, worried about her.
She had also seen clips of the incident and she warned Elora to stay careful. The only thing that made Elora assured was Lac. He was there to make sure she was unharmed.
Elora threw her head back unsure of what to do. Her head was reeling with different thoughts making her confused. She knew she was not safe with Lac but he wouldn't let her go. Even if she leaves, there are people out there like Jaxon who would pounce on her if they get the chance.
She concluded, she would wait for things to die down and when things were peaceful, she would plan her escape perfectly. But for now, she has to lie low under Lac’s wing.
After bathing, Elora changed into one of the dresses in her wardrobe. The maids had brought breakfast for her and she ate it, after eating, Elora took her drugs and walked to the front of the mirror. She stared at her reflection and was satisfied with her face
The swelling on her cheek had gone down to normal and most of the bruises had cleared. She felt blush creeping up to her cheeks as she recalled the way Lac had kissed her yesterday.
He had his way of making her bend to his will and it makes her astonished that she'd always fall. She took a deep breath, calming her nerves. She was still ovulating which means she had to be careful with her thoughts and actions.
With a swift movement, Elora collapsed on her bed, closing her eyes instantly. She stayed in that position for a few seconds then opened her eyes, realizing she did not see Lac last night.
After he left that afternoon, she had seen him and she was not even sure he had come back from wherever he went.
Lyra came to check up on her but she did not make mention of him.
What if something had happened to him?
She had not even seen Nico either.
Worried, Elora stood up from the bed and walked to the door. She adjusted her dress and then put on her footwear. She walked out of the room turn headed to Lac’s room.
The Villa was well organized and quite unusual, there was nothing wrong. The maids passed by Elora and they curtseyed politely. Elora nodded her head in response and as she got to Lac’door, she took a deep breath.
She knocked on the door twice and as she expected, he replied.
“Come in. The door is not locked.”
Elora entered instantly, her eyes widening as she stared at the scene before her. He just got out of and around his waist was a white thick towel. Water was dripping from his head down to his half-clad body making Elora freeze. His broad back revealed the stunning tattoos and scars.
“Umm… I..I think I'll come back later.” She let out, her voice trembling.
“You have seen my body before. Don't act like it's a new thing.” He answered back as he turned to look at her. “How have you been?”
Elora composed herself, he was right, this was not the first time she'd seen his exposed chest and back but her heart was racing.
She swallowed hard, trying to steady her racing heart. “I have been okay.” She managed to reply, the burning blush in her cheeks returned, betraying her.
Lac stepped closer, the towel slipping slightly as he moved but he quickly adjusted it. “Just okay? You are not shaken about what happened yesterday?” He answered back, regarding her with a serious yet teasing expression.
Elora knew he could see through her facade. The sight before her was mesmerizing and this made her swallow hard.
“I was but I’m better now.” She replied calmly.
“Hope you are not bothered? You look worried for a moment.” His voice softened. Melting her heart. A hint of genuine concern laced his words.
