Chapters. 17 Surprise on a Surprise

Logan’s POV

I can’t stop thinking about the sweetness of Carol’s lips that I just tasted. In fact, it was already night, and I was already in bed. However, I still couldn’t close my eyes. The image of what happened just now kept swirling in my mind.

“You seem to be in love. You’ve been smiling like that all day,” Luke said suddenly. I immediately lifted myself up into a sitting position.

“Luke. How could I be in love with that girl? You know how much I hate her scent,” I quickly retorted with a shudder of disgust.

“Never mind, Logan. Don’t lie. I’m your wolf. I know what’s really going on with you. Even better than yourself.”

“No, Luke. I’ve told you repeatedly, haven’t I? I’m sure it’s just because it’s my first kiss. I’m sure of it. I’d feel the same way, too. If I kissed Grace or any other girl.”

“Are you sure?”

“Of course. If you don’t believe me. I’ll prove it to you tomorrow,” I said confidently. “Falling in love with Carol? That’s a very unlikely thing to happen,” I added. She shook her head a few times and smiled amusedly.

“I hope you don’t do anything stupid that you’ll regret later,” Luke advised.

“You don’t have to worry about anything. Because I’ll never feel that way.” I replied firmly. Still defending my opinion. I smiled confidently as I envisioned a plan to prove it to Luke tomorrow.

Time passed. The next day, I immediately ordered a guard to summon Grace to the palace. I wanted to prove it to Luke. If I can get this happy feeling from anyone, not just Carol. However, after waiting for a while. The Guard returned without the girl. He only delivered a message from Grace, who couldn’t come now. Because she had work that couldn’t be left behind.

I started to get annoyed hearing that. What business was he doing? To my knowledge she doesn’t have any work other than bothering me every day. Why is it so hard for her to come when I need her?

“Damn it! It looks like my authority in front of the pack members is starting to be ignored. Starting from Carol to Grace. They’re starting to ignore this Alpha of mine,” I muttered in annoyance. In fact, I almost squeezed the golden glass in my hand.

Grace really didn’t come all day. I was getting annoyed and repeatedly asked the Guard to call the girl to come over now. Not because I really want to kiss her. But, because Luke kept urging me to stop this baffling plan.

“Logan! Never mind. Don’t continue with your baffling challenge. You’ll break your own heart and Grace’s. If she finds out that the only reason you kissed her was to prove your ridiculousness to me,” Luke’s words kept coming back to him.

“I’ve said it repeatedly. I’m not going to back out of this. I just want to make you realize. If everything I feel for Carol. It’s because I’ve never felt a kiss before. And I will definitely feel it again when kissing another woman. Admit it. If you really want this plan canceled,” I replied to Luke in a challenging tone.

“I can’t, Logan. I can’t lie to your own heart. Like what you’re doing right now,” Luke retorted firmly.

“Stop cornering me, Luke! I’ll prove you wrong!” I yelled a little as I was getting angry with my own wolfish words.

“Alright. Looks like you need some time to yourself.”

“Go away! Give me fifteen more minutes to prove everything!” I said with a brief shout. After Luke left, I slammed the glass in my hand. Damn it! Why is it that when I need Grace? That girl is so hard to come.

I finally decided to go back and order Guard to pick up Grace here. Since Guard left a while ago. I couldn’t calm down. I kept walking back and forth in this room. Because I can’t wait for Grace’s arrival. She could silence Luke’s statement about my feelings for Carol. How could I love that ugly girl? Just smelling her scent makes me....

I can’t continue my words. My tongue was suddenly too stiff to say them. In the past, I could easily mock or insult that girl. Never mind. I’m sure if I could kiss another girl. This happy feeling of mine will increase or at least stay the same.

I decided to find another girl. If Grace can’t come here. However, when I opened the door to the room. I saw the girl standing behind the door.

“Hi, Logan!” She greeted me with a face that had been polished with thick make-up. She was also wearing a dress that immediately made me frown.

“Grace. Aren’t you dressed wrong today?” I asked confused. The girl stared at her own appearance.

“How was it? Do you like my dress? Do you think I look pretty tonight?” she asked me. She started to move her body closer to mine. So I had to push her a little to put some space between us.

“Yeah. Not bad,” I reply briefly. Grace immediately chuckled with increasingly flushed cheeks. I don’t know if it’s because of her make-up or because she’s actually blushing from what I just said.

“You’re such a romantic, Logan. Oh, yes. All day long you’ve been telling the Guard to ask me to come here. Just because I couldn’t come. Did you miss me so much today?” Grace asked, starting to digress.

“Don’t talk so much! You better come with me right away!” I took Grace’s hand and led her into the room. However, she suddenly stopped her steps. So I twisted around. “What’s wrong?”

“No, Logan. Not here. I want us to go to another, nicer place in the palace,” Grace refused.

“All right. Let’s decide on that place now. I hope it means a quiet place that is rarely used by people in this castle.”

“Agreed! Come with me now!” Grace immediately grabbed my hand. Then pulled her away from that place. I really didn’t want to think about heavy things. So I just obeyed. As long as the place was quiet. Kissing her would only require a minute of my time. And Luke would apologize for his stupid words. I smiled at the thought.

“Logan! I suggest one more time. Stop this baffling plan. You’ll only have regrets. If you continue!” Luke said, which I could only hear myself.

“I will not stop this plan. Unless you retract your words about me falling in love with Carol.” I silently told Luke to take back his stupid statement.

“That’s not going to happen, Logan. I’m your wolf. I couldn’t have lied to you the way you did.”

“Stop it, Luke! Just watch what happens next! I bet you’ll be dumbfounded. Especially seeing Grace’s much more attractive makeup with a fresh scent typical of this pack woman. Compared to Carol, Grace is much better looking.”

“Logan! I hope you won’t regret it later.”

“You don’t have to worry, Luke. I know what I’m supposed to do!” I shouted to myself. Grace’s steps had stopped. I immediately did the same. Good. This is the front of the palace ballroom, which is rarely used. Unless there are important events in this kingdom. And today there is no important event. So this place is like being in another civilization that is very quiet. Grace is indeed a smart girl. I complimented her for a moment.

“You picked a suitable spot, Grace!” I said as she turned around so we were facing each other.

“Of course,” she replies with a smile. I didn’t want to waste any more time. I immediately grabbed her jaw and kissed her lips, which were already polished bright red.

Grace seemed surprised by what I did. But I was more surprised when someone opened the ballroom door wide.

“Surprise!!!” said several people behind the large door carved with a wolf’s head. I quickly released Grace’s lips. I looked at the people behind the ballroom door who seemed surprised by what I was doing. OMG! I just realized that today is my birthday. I circulated my gaze to all the werewolves in the ballroom. Until my eyes found Carol who was also looking at me. She kept her naturally reddened lips tightly closed with a facial expression that was hard to decipher.

No, she wasn’t. There’s no way she’s here. Please don’t let Carol see this! I ran as fast as I could and ignored everyone’s calls.

“Logan! Logan wait! Where are you going?!” Grace was yelling loudly, but I really didn’t want to see her now.
