Chapter 235

Chapter 235

In the small courtyard, Felicity and Isaiah remained silent for a long time.

Just as Olivia thought they wouldn't speak again, Christopher in her arms said, "Wait a bit longer."

Olivia paused her movement to turn around and looked down at the snowy dog in her arms, "Are you curious about what they'll say too?"

"How about we guess who'll speak first? If I win, you have to agree to one condition. Deal?"

Olivia blinked, "Okay, let's wait a bit longer then."

She was in no hurry to leave now, and asked curiously, "What condition do you want me to agree to?"

"It's a secret for now."

Christopher nuzzled her palm, deliberately keeping it mysterious, "I won't tell you yet."

"I guess it'll be Felicity," Olivia said after thinking.

Human love and sincerity were hard to figure out, but she'd already seen it in Christopher.

Christopher loved her.

His whole heart was with her.

She didn't believe Felicity couldn't see Isaiah's sincerity and feelings. If she didn't try to fix things now, there might not be a next time.

Honestly, if she were Isaiah, she wouldn't stay and wait.

But then Olivia got curious—if Christopher were Isaiah and she were Felicity, what would Christopher's answer be?

Christopher seemed to read her thoughts. He smiled and said, "Then I choose Isaiah."

Olivia paused, couldn't help asking, "If you were Isaiah, even if things didn't work out, would you still stay for Felicity?"

"Of course."

Christopher nodded firmly, looking deeply at her face, saying each word clearly, "Love won't be erased by time."

"But love changes."

Love changes constantly.

That's what she'd seen from cunning humans—not everyone has a pure heart or knows how to love someone.

Christopher disagreed with her view, "Love changes—it gets deeper or shallower. What doesn't change is the person."

Hearing this, Olivia froze for a moment.

She seemed to understand what Christopher meant. She'd never looked at love from this angle before.

Her eyes brightened, "So you think Isaiah won't change?"

In response, Isaiah's voice rang out from the courtyard.

After what seemed like careful thought, Isaiah spoke, "Felicity, no matter what you think, I'll support and respect your decision. Sacred Flame Village will always be your home, and like I said, I'll always be there for you."

"Isaiah..."

Felicity hesitated, speaking slowly, "Why are you so good to me?"

"There's no 'why' between us."

Having cleared his feelings, Isaiah's heavy mood lifted considerably, and the remaining answers became crystal clear in his mind.

He stared at Felicity before him, thinking of all their moments together—those memories like beautiful paintings, among the few colors in his life.

He couldn't help but show a genuine smile, "I want to be good to you, just want to be good to you. It's my choice."

"Even if I don't stay with you?"

Felicity seemed shocked by Isaiah's sincerity. For a long moment she had no words. Her already wavering heart tilted even more toward one side. She unconsciously stepped forward, genuinely wanting to be closer to him.

"Even if you're not with me, you're still the person I love most."

Isaiah's smile turned somewhat bitter. After thinking, he said seriously, "I hope you'll be happy, and even I shouldn't be a stumbling block in your way."

"So Felicity, don't let anyone or anything hold you back. Just do what you want to do. If someday you want to stop and wait for me, I'll work hard to catch up with you."

Thinking of what he had to say next, Isaiah clenched his fists and took a deep breath, "If you don't want to, I'll watch over you from behind until you find new happiness."

"Isaiah..."

Felicity's nose stung.

She didn't want to cry, but tears fell uncontrollably. She threw herself into his arms with all her strength, holding him and crying nonstop.

Her reaction confused Isaiah.

He held her awkwardly, but then remembered he had no right to hold her now. He moved his hands from her back, explaining clumsily and dryly, "Felicity, don't feel pressured. I'm not saying this to make you think better of me or to make you stay. These are my true feelings. Even if we can't be husband and wife, I'm still your family."

He lowered his head, carefully wiping her tears, "Don't cry anymore. If you don't want to hear this, I won't say it again. When this is over, I'll see you off. If you don't want me to know where you are after that, I won't ask. But remember, when you're in trouble, think of me. I'll help you."

Every word from Isaiah came from his heart.

Felicity cried her heart out, unable to respond to his words, only holding him tighter and tighter.

She thought she'd figured it out—she didn't want to leave Isaiah or give him up.

She'd never meet someone who loved her this much again.

"Isaiah, let's not separate anymore, okay? Forgive me, forgive the impulsive decision I made before. I just wanted to go out then. I felt everything in Sacred Flame Village was holding me back, including you."

Felicity choked up as she opened her heart to him, "But in the month after I broke off our engagement and left, I thought about you all the time. Coming back this time, I can't lie to myself anymore—I love you. I don't think you're holding me back. I was the one holding myself back."

She looked up at Isaiah, whose eyes were already wet with tears, and pleaded, "Isaiah, please forgive me this once. I really love you. I want to be with you from now on."

How could Isaiah refuse such a plea? What he wanted most was to stay by her side.

He finally found the courage to pull her into his arms, his voice full of joy at getting her back, "Okay, I don't blame you. I never blamed you."

"Felicity, let's be together from now on. Wherever you want to go, I'll go with you. We can take our parents with us too."

This was the decision he'd thought about countless times after Felicity left, words he'd wanted to say to her countless times. But back then he was too timid. He wished he could have been as brave as Felicity.

Felicity gripped his hand tightly, promising firmly, "Okay, together. No matter what happens in the future, I'll be by your side and never give up on you again."

Outside, Olivia heard their heartfelt words and felt somewhat moved herself. She whispered, "You won this round."

"I won."

Christopher nodded with a smile, "You have to agree to one request."

As if anticipating something, Olivia looked down and said, "Okay, but you can't ask me to kill you."
